BlackStone Cherry Cigarillo (POD)
submitted over 5 years ago by mixman0gProud Sidebar Reader!

Introduction

I find it easier to persuade older people to switch to vaping if I can find/make a juice close in taste to what they smoke. My Father-in-law smoked Swisher Sweet cigarillo (classic/cherry) for 20+ years. Before I quit smoking I also smoked these so very familiar with the taste and aroma.

On and off again for some months I worked on that profile using Inawera tobacco flavors. I learned a great deal which is good because he switched on me! :( He started smoking BlackStone Cherry Cigarillo. Still made by Swisher, but different flavor and aroma. A lot less cherry and more Cuban with mild vanilla pipe notes.

BlackStone Cherry Cigarillo (POD)

Ingredient|% :---|---: INW Tobacco Absolute Cuban Cigar|5.00 INW Cherry Cigar|2.00 INW Vanilla for Pipe|1.00 INW Dirty Neutral Base|0.50 FA Anise|0.25

Flavor total: 8.75%

  • Minimum steep time: 20 days
  • Recommended blend: 50/50
  • Recommended device: Smok Novo, 1.2Ω Pod, MTL

Description

Cloning the analog experience is interesting to me. Using a low powered POD device, with no button, not heavy, with only two parts, small as a lighter, makes it so much easier to persuade older people to switch. High percentages were used because it works best in one of these devices.

Notes

INW Tobacco Absolute Cuban Cigar - The aroma and taste of this flavor is a 100% match to the main body of the BlackStone Cherry Cigarillo.

INW Cherry Cigar - Needed to fill the cherry gap. Fits wonderfully.

INW Vanilla for Pipe - Self-explanatory, vanilla pipe notes. Older packaging actually describes the BlackStone Cigarillo as "Pipe Tobacco Cigars." If you put an unlit one under your nose it's there.

INW Tobacco, DNB - Adds that analog ashy flavor.

FA Anise - Yes, I know. Not the best for several reasons but what I had on hand. This may change in the future. I added it because I dislike the dryness that comes with DNB post exhale and pipe tobaccos remind me of licorice for some reason. Flavor is noticeable on the shake but not at all after a steep. Does the job I intended it for and at such small quantities on MTL devices this is still harm reduction compared to smoking a real BlackStone Cherry Cigarillo.

My hopes in sharing is that someone besides myself and FIL enjoy this recipe.

Edit: And still suck at formatting. :P

Lovage Root is the normal choice to add moisture to a tobacco, so did you not have that or was there some other reason for the anise?

No Lovage Root unfortunately. Will add FLV to the shopping list. Thanks for the tip!

Anise reminds me of licorice, and vaguely resembles some notes in pipe tobaccos for me too. A safer anise will probably do but will certainly experiment with Lovage Root when I get it.

Just a follow up, my FIL loves it. Says he will stay quit if I can keep the juice flowing. :)
