my ejuice turned purple, can i still use it ?
submitted over 5 years ago by lavag00rl

aight so this is what my E-juice looks like , its somehow turned purple lmao

i mixed 25ml double apple e juice( super vape store which is a local aus brand i believe ) with 4ml freebase nicotine.

i then used that to fill up my partners pod for his vype, capped it up and chucked it back into my side table.

come 4 days later i whip it out to fill up my own vape pen and its PURPLE!!!! i dunno what i did wrong but now im not sure if i can or cant use it anymore.

we also smoked through my partners pod on the same day and it did not turn blue!!

TLDR : mixed a juice and then 4 days later it’s purple, can i still use the juice ? any idea what caused the colour change?

Some flavors like certain grapes will appear purple in UV light after a steep, but not in artificial light with no UV present. Completely normal, and oddly in a few recipes it's apparently an indication the steeping is done.

UV light = sunlight, you're good to vape! Jealous of the colour, that's my fave one

If anything I'd figure an Australian would know about UV light, considering the hole in the ozone.

Oh. That's interesting. I remember looking up ways to color my ejuice when is started diy-ing. Most threads agreed that it's potentially unsafe and I dropped the idea.

Do you have a few recipes on hand which tend to change color after steeping?

So far as I've seen the only color coming up is purple, and then only when it fluoresces under ultra violet light. It's not something I've gone out of my way to look for, but it is interesting to see it when it was unexpected.

I've had a couple juices where they added food coloring to get some blue or green and I found the taste difference not noticeable with the same juice with no color, but the colored version definitely gunked the coils much faster. I wouldn't consider it a good trade where color brings nothing to the table but what I'd consider a quality reduction and adds more possibly harmful components to the mix.

The color purple will not hurt you and, despite rumors to the contrary, will not turn you into a lesbian.

Yes but you become a vape deity with superhuman powers. Kind of like how the hulk became the hulk with gamma radiation.

VAPEMAN

He became the ultimate fireman because no amount of smoke clouds can harm him

His backpack is a truck battery wired to his rebreather and his utility belt contains all the necessities to save any citizens of Vape Nation, cotton, coils, and a Juice Printer that can make juice of any flavour by mere thought

If it’s grape or has some grave it shows purple on dark things which is normal but if you trust then sure

If they used food stuffs he’ll no

But it’s probably got a touch of grape in it (I mixed berries with a grape like 2% and that grape taste isn’t ther but the purple is) if anyone asks why it’s to help the texture on the flavor
