A dumb question about bases
submitted over 5 years ago by Gunkster

Hey guys I know there are bases such as the best damn pink lemonade base and things like the trinities. My question is how you use them. If I want to make some random fruit lemonade I assume I would take the base and just throw a few % of whatever fruit I also wanted. But do you guys ever change the base to accommodate a flavor you want in it or should bases never change? What about using two different bases such as the blueberry trinity mixed with the vanilla ice cream trinity to make a blueberry ice cream? Once again I’m assuming you would just make both bases in one bottle. I know flavors can be crazy tricky and there’s so many different flavors that can influence other flavors that I started wondering about this. Thanks guys!

You can do whatever you want with them.

If you add Flavor A at some% - and feel that something in the trinity or whatever is conflicting with it, just change it.

It's all about preference, nothing is wrong per se.

True true. I don’t know why I felt like it shouldn’t be changed haha

Change what you want. But try them in the original form if you can. Trinity's, stones etc are building blocks that work, and you as a mixer can do whatever you want with that

Bases, stones and trinities are just a recipe: someone's idea of something working together for something better. Work with it like you would any recipe.

I recently started mixing my own juice and what I did was bought about ten flavors and some sour and sweetness and I just mixed up about 60 30ml combinations. In took a bunch of notes and will tweet something’s that taste off next time.

That’s a really interesting approach. I have only really messed around with making an original mix once....

Trinities are a circle jerk ala r/Politics. Nobody stands behind them. Nobody believes in them. If you can snag a few notes from a couple combos you got going on, the world's a better place for you.
