Hi guys,
I have been mixing off and on for 2-3 years but it's always been more of a means to an end rather than an enjoyable hobby. I've mixed a lot of my own stuff but it has merely just gotten the job done usually. I'm a student and I don't have a lot of disposable income. However, due to some circumstances I've been putting a bit more effort into learning.
I quite enjoy tobacco's. I've tried quite a few recipe's now and over time I've decided I still prefer more dessert type flavors and sweet tobacco's so I got to combining the key features of a few recipe's I enjoy.
Now I will have to give credit where credit is due in regards to the inspiration of this recipe. I read that /u/isuamadog had been enjoying FLV Milk & Honey and this is what originally got me started.
Whilst the Honey makes for a lot of the flavor I taste in the juice, I find that there is a slightly chocolate note that could easily be added to. Though this is not an area I am versed in.
Here is the recipe, I'm currently vaping it at about 15 watts on a Kayfun Lite 2019 clone. It tastes good after about a week of steeping; though 2 weeks seems to be the magic number.

|INW Dark for Pipe |2.5%| |:-|:-| |FA Almond|1%| |INW Black for Pipe |0.5%| |FLV Milk & Honey|2%| |INW Shisha Vanilla|0.5%|
When it all comes together we are left with a sweet, dry tobacco that reminds me of the aspects I used to enjoy about rolling tobacco, plus the dessert feature's of juices I enjoy without being overly cloying up the juice or causing it to be too 'wet'.
As for some notes,
now bare in mind this is something I'm not used to writing about so I apologize if it's not great but I will do my best.
I started with the base of Dark for Pipe, I find this flavor very similar to the infamous Black for Pipe with more of a sweet note. I don't get much of it but I understand some people note a 'plum' flavor in there. I tend to notice more of an earthy chocolate note.
I added the INW Black for Pipe to this to boost the pipe or smokey note that people love about this flavor. There isn't much else to say in regards to that. I just find that it works well together.
FLV Milk & Honey is an interesting one. I don't really get much of a dairy note from it. I find it vaguely similar to TPA RY4. Minus the dirt flavoring of RY4. I get mostly a 'dark' and sweet flavor from it and I believe there is some chocolate in there, my thinking was that this would boost the same note from the Dark for Pipe. Though it does add a bit of a cream to the mix.
The FA Almond was used to add a little bit of gritty texture and dry up the mix a bit whilst adding a nutty note. I've been adding this to a lot of my juices lately and I quite enjoy it. I'm looking forward to trying out some INW Marzipan or FA Marzipan in it's place but it does the job.
Finally the INW Shisha Vanilla was just to balance some of the cream out and add a slight sweeter note to the mix as well.
Whilst I believe the mix is 'complete' as is. Its a difficult one to describe. I tend to lean to the fact that there 'might' be something missing. I ran this by my step dad who is extremely picky with his tobacco flavors and It's probably the only one he's given me a thumbs up for. Recommending that I make no changes to it.
It's a little scary to be posting my own recipe here honestly. There are so many talented mixers in the community and I do feel as if my recipe looks a little simple or unimpressive compared to some of the craziness people come up with here. But even if one person may get something out of this or find some sort of inspiration I'll be happy to have contributed something myself. After all I think being active is a good way to keep learning.
Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read this and hopefully one of you will be able to find the time to mix it up!
I don't have either of the pipe flavors either, but this looks worthy of mixing to me. And flavor notes are always appreciated in DIY, so kudos to you for including those! I look forward to trying this recipe.
I just realized I can't remember if I have dark for pipe. Black, red, and vanilla for pipe are all fantastic though. I may have to try this with either extra black, or subbing the dark for one of the others and hope it works out. Anyone know how similar they are?
I see nothing wrong with that recipe, well done!
FLV Milk and Honey is a tobacco Umami flavour to me, I don’t really get any dairy nor honey notes from it. I’d maybe lower it a tad, but that’s just me.
Almond or Marzipan play well with Black for Pipe - well spotted.
Personally I’d like to play off the fruity and boozy notes from Dark for Pipe, so if you feel like building on your recipe, that’s a combo you might want to explore further.
Have you tried switching the percentages of Black and Dark? Should be interesting.
Not only does it not taste like milk or honey, I don't think it's even supposed to actually taste like dairy or honey. I think the name is metaphorical - a Biblical reference to a "land flowing with milk and honey" - a metaphor for richness.
Thanks mate.
That's pretty much what I had been getting at Haha. It's got a nice sweetness to it but not quite as you would expect.
Would you recommend a specific Marzipan? It's been on my list for a while.
Sounds good to me. I'll try and play with a few things. I got some stuff that may work.
I haven't in this exact recipe but I have vaped a lot of it lately so I've been moving away from it a little bit haha! Will keep it in mind :)
Totally want to make this (mostly do slightly sweet tobaccos myself) but don't have any of the tobacco flavors!
If you want a nutty dessert tobacco, with more common flavors, try Monkey Nuts. While I appreciate INW tobacco flavors, they can be difficult to source. (I buy them direct from Inawera. Due to their currency being roughly equivalent to the peso, the flavors and shipping are pretty cheap for international orders.) FLV tobaccos are almost as good plus they don't need to steep.
It’s the steeping where I personally feel that FLV has still some work to do.
Anyway, if one is serious about getting into tobaccos just bite the bullet and source both INW and FLV. They just compliment each other so well.
Yes, FLV loses potency during a steep. But if you give them the tobacco standard steep (a month) they e gain some potency (not all) but gain complexity. Like, with Monkey Nuts I suggested a minimum steep of 4 days (because other flavors needed the time, but the recipe was designed for a month steep. (But since I love FLV Connecticut Shade, I enjoy that recipe early. But it's best after the steep.) Would it be nice if they didn't fade? Yeah. But they come back some, if you wait and don't do anything crazy. And they're potent enough that even mixing for them to steep, it's rare to go as high as 3% for any one flavoring. So what other problem do you see?
This is my new favourite! I generally bulk mix about 3-4 100ml bottles at a time and I always include this recipe for at least 1 bottle. Brilliant!
