I love cherry flavors, sadly I've only managed to put together one recipe using them.
Specifically Chase the dragon
Unrelated, but I do absolutely love FW cherry berry. It's like the flavor of a cherry slushy, and it's awesome
> I love cherry flavors
You're a strange cat, Fo. Most of the ones I've tried so far taste anywhere from a very little to a huge lot like horrible plastic off-gassing bottom shelf rum cough medicine nightmares come to life.
But then, I didn't think INW Cherry could work at 1% after trying it that high as a single flavor. Yet Chase the Dragon makes it work wonderfully. I don't know what kind of magic you did there in that recipe but I hope you do some more of it.
Love me some cherry berry, as well as cherry crush and for a twist, fw shirley temple - though that's obviously not just a cherry flavor
Does the tiny bit of cherry come across in the Shirley Temple? I would assume grenadine and lemon-lime would overwhelm it.
Glad to hear cherry crush is good!

The "clafoutis aux cerises" from Solub Arome in France is an awesome cherry cake with a real, non-medicinal cherry. The best cherry I ever vaped. Unfortunately I don't have their "cherise" (cherry) or "cerise griotte" (morello cherry) or "cerise bigarreau" (Royal Ann cherry, a bit like Rainier cherry) so far.
At least judging from this cherry cake, the others could be promising...
Do you have any info on those flavors? Ballpark for SFTs? I could whip up some new testers, rather than hunt for where my notes went...
I'll admit - I'm a fool and fell down the Cherry Rabbit Hole. My experience says do NOT try to find a stand-alone cherry recipe - I don't think it exists - at least not a good one. I've had more success with adding cherry to a mix with other flavors - and use something else to coverup the cough syrup. Add 4-5% TFA Cherry Extract + 0.5-1% INW Cherries to your favorite Lemonade Mix and you'll get something that's not sickening.
Yeah that’s the thing with Cherry Extract, it needs a little help to not be so bland and many of the options for assistance seem to have some very bad baggage. Maybe one of my new cherry flavors will be better, though. Any in particular you want to warn me about before I dive in?
None of them are unvapable - just not really that pleasant. I do use your trick of adding pomegranate (usually FA) to "fill in the middle" of many cherries. If you remember the 3CPO idea that we bounced around used that idea. The "O" gets completely buried - so I've been trying to add the rest of the combo as a "Red Base" to add to other things. I've found some that are "good", but nothing "great" - but still playing around in that rabbit hole.
C-3PO (the original)
C3P??? (my "Red Base")
|Flavor|%| |---|---| |INW Cherries|1%| |FLV Cranberry|1%| |FA Pomegranate|1%| |FLV Red Cinnamon|0.25%| |CAP Super Sweet|0.50%|
let this steep for at least a week to mellow out the "sharp edges"
I've been tweaking a Cherry Sprite recipe for a couple weeks now and I think I've got it to about where I want it.
1.5% INW Cherries
1.5% TPA Cherry Extract
2% VT Fizzy Sherbet
3% CAP Lemon Lime
.25% Polar Blast
.25% WS-23
Good SnV, but after a couple days steeping it really shines. Doesn't have that medicinal cherry taste. The cherries are definitely at the forefront, but the Sprite is there just enough in the background to pull give it a subtle fizzy lemon lime taste in the exhale
That looks excellent!
I can't take all the credit. All I basically did was switch out the cranberry with the two cherries from your cranberry Sprite recipe.
I'd love to hear what you think about it if you mix it up though. See if you have any suggestions for improvement
Always heard horror stories of cherries and cough syrup so stayed away from them for a long time. Heard some good things about INW cherries so gave it a try. Only mixed one recipe with it and it was surprisingly good. My wife’s favorite and adv and room smell is amazing.
INW Cherries 1.5%
WF pixie stick candy 3%
TFA sweet and tart 4%
CAP super sweet .25%
I found only three cherry (-like) flovors in my stash and I never even tried one of them.
They are INW Cherries (Czeresnie), WF Black Cherry Jelly Bean and FLV Cherry Filling.
I will mix a tester of these for the weekend.

Going just by how they smell, INW Cherries smells pretty promising because it smells almost on point like those double Cherry Gummy Candies which I really like.

WF Black Cherry Jelly Bean smells really strong, probably will belong to the medicinal department that everybody is trying to avoid.

FLV Cherry Filling smells surprisingly bland for an FLV flavor but also has a medicinal (but different to the WF flavor) touch to it.

What SFT percentages would you guys recommend for those? If nobody has another advice, I would start out with two times their average percentage on ATF.
INW Cherries I would stick to around 1.5%. You're probably going to find it rather thin and light and want more, but you should probably resist the urge to do that because it will start to get harsh and medicinal on you pretty quick. You'll be able so see how it needs to be filled out or fleshed out with some other flavor or used to add a bright red accent to another flavor.
FLV Cherry Filling I don't even recommend at all. I thought it tasted like gross, horrible bright red plastic cherry that coats the palate and just lingers there very unpleasantly. However, this guy Sejouced makes some really good stuff and he's used it at 0.5% in this Apple & Cherry Roll so maybe try 0.5% and see if you can figure out how to get it to work.
WF Black Cherry Jelly Bean is potent. At 0.5% I got a wonderful sweet black cherry flavor with some candy body to it, but it was weak and I wanted more. At 1% I got some plastic off notes and harshness ruining it for me. So maybe 0.75% is a good standalone? I've seen some recipes using it that high. Personally I like what it did at 0.25% to give TFA Cherry Extract some body and bolder, sweeter, darker cherry flavor that it was missing. If you double the average on ATF with this one you're going to have a real bad time and probably turn yourself off of a pretty good cherry flavor.
> You'll be able so see how it needs to be filled out
INW Cherries is EXTREMLY frustrating. When I vape it I get this . . .
Nose: I love cherries, this smells wonderful.
Taste Buds: Whatcha talking about Willis?
It's ALL armoa - zero taste. It's definately NOT a stand-alone flavor.
This is my exact experience with all the cherries I have (I have 15 different types) but I have used commercial juice in the past that has nailed the type of cherry profile I want so it’s extremely frustrating when every time I add a new cherry to my stash it falls on its face just like all the rest , the latest hopefuls are MB red cherry and FW cherry crush. I’m in serious need of a deep sweet syrupy cherry for bakeries (I adore cherry bakewells) and a good cherry accent for drink style recipes but I feel like chocolate vapes cherry suffers from not be able to transfer from aroma to taste. I also have 14 different strawberries that I can’t taste aswell so maybe my palate is just destroyed from 20 years of smoking
Thanks for saving me from ruining my first Cherry impression. I will sft at your suggested percentages and then see what else I can mix in to get a nice vape.
Right now I think something like vanilla ice cream Trinity as a base and some other berries together with cherry might be decent at least.
Also, as mentioned by others and proven by fruit juice drinks, apples and cherries should pair up well. Same might be true for bananas and cherries.
I have tried the 3 cherries that I got at your recommended percentages. FLV Cherry Filling is pretty bad, as already predicted. But the other two are quite nice but each needs support. Luckily they support each other pretty nice.
I've thrown them together into your 123 Cranberry Sprite recipe instead of the cranberry and it is a pretty nice and balanced vape IMHO.
Here is the recipe of anyone wants to try it: Cherry Sprite All credit to u/ID10-T for recommending the percentages and delivering a base to top them onto.
A cherry tobacco recipe I really like
Casablanca by Fear
INW Classic For Pipe Black Cherry @ 1.3%
INW Vanilla For Pipe @ 1.2%
No explanation needed, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Three ingredient magic:
Forbidden Fruit by Ckemist
INW Cherries @ 3.25%
INW Rasperry @ 1.5%
INW Two Apples @ 1.0%
Usually I much prefer FA Fuji over the INW Two Apples, but here it just fits with the sweeter more candy like vibe.
I invite you to try out those two recipes, they are really good imho and so damn simple.
Fear + Tobacco = Yes
Yep, that’s very true.
INW Cherry Cigar isn’t bad as such, but I feel it needs help in both the cigar and the cherry department.
INW Red for Pipe and INW Black for Pipe at equal parts, let’s start @ 1.5% each, make a bright, sweet, slightly artificial candy cherry tobacco vape. I can’t say that I love it as long as there’s a world with Black Cherry for Pipe in it, but maybe somebody is just chasing that flavour profile? The bright candy cherry works with the fruit notes burried in Black for Pipe though.
Cherries are my favorite fruit hands down. Especially in chocolate cake form, schwarzwälder kirsch being my favorite. Would love to recreate one some day, but thats down the line from now. Some cherry recipes i did find but didn’t try yet:
Chocolate cherry cake
- 2.5% FW cake (yellow) (sub for non cancercake)
- 2% FW cherry crush
- 0.5% LA cream cheese icing
- 0.25% FLV milk chocolate
- 2% CAP sugar cookie
- 1% FLV sweet coconut
- 1% FLV vanilla custard
Cherry juice
- 5% CAP wild cherry
- 1% FA cherry
- 0.5% FA fuji apple
- 0.25% FA smooth
- 0.5% sweetener
Cherry juice 2
- 0.5% INW cherries (clean)
- 3% CAP wild cherry
- 0.5% FA fuji apple
- 0.25% FA smooth
- 0.5% sweetener
Hm, this got me thinking about combining INW Classic For Pipe Black Cherry and FLV Chocolate Deutsch. Or even messing with PUR Chocolate Cherry again.
I have Marzipan on my buy list in hopes to add support to vapes with nuts. But I keep hearing it tastes like cherries. I've never had a real Marzipan so I looked it up and cherries isn't in it. I don't have any cherry concentrates yet thus I haven't pulled the trigger to get Marzipan. How much Cherry is there in Marzipan? I thought it was like Almonds?
Can we all agree that cherries are kinda like single malt?
IRL, better than so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so , so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so many things, but nonexistent as a single flavor concentrate?
Most cherry flavorings have worse baggage than a super hot chick who's not in a relationship. The best cherry flavorings don't have baggage, but they also don't have everything they need to be perfect. They're kinda like Ringo... They need a lotta help from their friends. But because of how good cherries are, even a poor cherry is a better taste than many other flavors that are boring, plain, uninspured, that type of thing. So what's bthe best of them?
Well, here's the ones I use with any regularity:
TFA Cherry Blossom
TFA Cherry Extract
GL Cherry
INW Cherries (NOT 'Cherry')
LB Cherry Blossom Tea
Also, FA Marzipan (not INW, it's too nutty) works well when you want a sweet cherry, it boosts the cherry flavor you use and sweetens it well.
Also, I have had success with WFSC black cherry jellybean and with RF cherry taffy.
Do you have a suggested concentration (%) for LB Cherry Blossom Tea for a sub-ohm set up?
3-5% in a mix, usually is where I use it. Like in the recipes I linked elsewhere in the thread.
I’m hoping MolinBerry Red Cherry is in the pile as I’m interested in hearing what the Noted crew’s take is on that flavor.
I don't know about the other two but I have it and I think our guest does too. I haven't cracked it open yet but a sample at 2.5% is ready.
I guess I'll have to pick up HS Gold & Silver and INW Tobacco Cavendish Type if I want to do something with this TFA Black Cherry, huh?
Can you guys do a noted dedicated to bizarre flavors? I was on one on ones site and I saw some really bizarre ones. For some reason pork chop as well as mashed potato sticks out to me. I have also seen some bizarro Real Flavors, Sriracha really sticks out.
I love real cherries, but always had a hard time with cherry candies, and other cherry flavored things.
So naturally I knew it was going to be a challenge, finding a cherry I would enjoy vaping.
I've tried INW Cherries and FLV Black Cherry so far, and they both have that (unsurprisingly) artificial taste that I don't enjoy.
I doubt I'll be buying anymore cherry concentrates in the future, but you never know - Maybe there'll be something, that absolutely nails a natural cherry.
I about quadrupled my cherry flavor stash recently and haven’t had a chance to try all the new ones yet. So next week I might have an even better recommendation for you. But for now, if you’re feeling like you might want to venture down that scary cherry path again, I think you might want to check out TFA Cherry Extract. It’s a bit dull and meh testing but free of that horrible cherry medicine thing.
Unless you can say without a doubt that it'll vape like biting into a fresh cherry - I'm not sure I want to venture down any cherry path.
They've scared me off! and possibly scarred me as well ..
Damn.
I kept meaning to get the SFTs on a couple cherry flavors I'd found that I'd forgotten to test (in fairness, their names only included 'cerise' rather than cherry) but, alas, not this time.
When I have time, I'll come back and edit in four recipes using cherry. Two are variants of one idea (a cherry elderflower mix) that I like both branches of development I did, one is a Pink Guava recipe, and the last is one of those orphaned projects. Tried it, didn't like it enough to try perfecting it. A floral booze with light cherry notes. Maybe someone else would love it, if they ever got all the flavors for it..
So.. First off, a couple recipes. Just atf links for these ones tho..
#Variant 1
#Variant 2
#Something different
And, as promised... The as yet untestested Alpha version of.... #Maraschino Peary
I have to find where I put the recipe for Blossomjack. After a month steep, it's actually got potential, but I most likely won't be developing it further.
Sad, but SA Lotus is tough to work with. I suspect I may eventually do something with it and TFA Blackberry as the stars...call it M:tG
Is the flavor I’m missing most likely GL Cherry?
I assumed you'd have that, but maybe not the SA Lotus. And I may have used GL Wild Blueberry, or maybe RF Blueberry. It was a recipe I scribbled on a napkin to try, and made when my computer wasn't working...so I'm drawing on memory from a still somewhat ill and definitely sleep depraved brain.
I haven't mixed with cherry, but I love these FOTW posts! Looking forward to learning a few things here.
Be careful clicking links in the comments in here - it’s easy to get lost for hours in Odie’s Flavor Facts.
I don't have a whole ton of experience with cherry but I have to say TPA cherry blossom is wonderful if you're looking for a light cherry flavor. It's good as a standalone @ 4% (MTL) but works well with other flavors like TPA key lime or SC soda base.
I really like 1.5% TPA Cherry Blossom with some 2.5% FA Fuji and 1% FA Pear. The Cherry Blossom just adds a little something to the Apple that I can’t put my finger on.
If you’ve got a really sweet tooth I’d recommend trying Sakura Sweets by Kopel.
Hmm. Apple and cherry blossom. Where have I seen those before...? If only I could remember.
But yeah. Great stuff. I'll probably have it in the cherry trilogy. Along with TFA cherry extract, and probably a blueberry for depth, and maybe INW Lemon Mix.
Real Flavors SC Soda Base?
I haven't made any cherry flavors because I haven't started mixing yet but I'm like some on here. I love actual cherries. I even eat frozen cherries out of a bowl from time to time. If I was gonna make cherry flavor mix, it would be Cherry Berry with a natural Cherry tone with hints of huckleberry/Blackberry and of course there would be almost no sweetener being a natural Cherry mix.
Are there any good Rainier or Bing cherry flavors out there. I hate candy/medicinal cherry flavors.
This guy right here asking the important questions. Keeping an eye on this comment to see what anyone recommends.
u/ID10-T Does OOO Cherry Pie make the list if so I have some input.
> OOO Cherry Pie
I dont have that one, but I'm pretty sure I have OOO Cherry Candy. I got it in one of my first orders I think. I didn't know what I was doing and probably used way too much. It tasted like Luden's cough drops. I got turned off and never revisited it.
Dontcha wish that ALL FOTW thread had as much activity as this one? (grin) They sure would be a lot more informative and helpful if they did! (hint-hint)
But not all FotW are about flavors with so much (usually not fully reached) potential. Just sayin'...
I mean, ok.... Rootbeer as a example. Requires post #1: "So tasty puff still the best one? And then answer "Probably. FLV is close tho." /thread
Or you get a FotW about a bland, boring, blech kinda flavor. Would it be interesting to see a bunch of posts ."the vile bean is an abomination" and then everyone pile on swearing to eliminate their use of it for at least a year? That'd be awesome, but instead, sometimes there's just crickets. Or beat bugs.
Agreed , the call to arms seems to have done the trick or is it that cherry vapes promise so much as a profile and almost always fail to deliver??? Really looking forward to noted on Monday as cherry is by far my favourite fruit flavour so hopefully dave and the gang can point us all in some sort of satisfactory direction. As a loooooonnngggg time lurker in this sub I realise it’s on us all to contribute and not rely so heavily on the noted crew and the other main faces (apexified an juthinc Im looking at you) to flesh out the descriptions of these single flavours. I plan to be way more active in future even if my viewpoint doesn’t mesh with others
INW Cherries is a light, rainier cherry top note focused cherry essence. The flavor can be ran at a relatively high percentage, 2-3%, without adding much body, but filling the room note with cherry. Flavorah Rainier Cherries accomplishes something similar with more complexity and depth. Some say an improvement on Bing Cherry, Flavorah Rainier Cherries is formulated to provide a full-flavored sweet rainier cherry with skin and flesh. Both work great in recipes adding very slightly floral cherry notes with sweetness. Try them both soon!
Uh... I thought Rainer was the cherry they brought out to (unsuccessfully) try and redeem themselves from the horror that was FLV Bing.
So do you work for them or are you toadying trying to get some decent lemon flavors_ or do you totally disagree with the existing reviews? Or have they pulled a INW and secretly reformulated only their result is vapabld?
Seems like most people are trying to find a realistic cherry flavour. Any recommendations for fans of delicious cherry cough syrup?
Nothing like the refreshing taste of Dimetapp.
Actually Dimetapp is grape. Robitussin has the more cherry flavor. Bleh. Ever try Creomulsion? It's like drinking soot.
Uh... I just noticed the punishment (other than the thread title) from FLV. Is the 'winner' required to do anything with any bottles of Bing or Rainer cherry other than bury them upside down in a deep grace surrounded by garlic bulbs in a ceremony conducted by a skilled Houngan?
Bing Cherry as been discontinued. I think the ceremony you described is the most highly recommended use for Rainier, but that pack has some really nice flavors in there: Blood Orange, Lemonade, Peppermint, Yakima Hops.
Wish we could get Bing cherry back :(
First off, let me just say I truly appreciate sarcasm as one of the greatest forms of expression.
That said.... Too far.
Something I have been playing with is TFA Cherry Extract + TFA Nectarine + FA Black Cherry (low). I think im closing in on something but it has a very dry finish that I cant seem to get rid of... juiciness is missing and I dont want to mess with the flavour too much. I really love cherry anything and I've been chasing this profile forever. excited for this episode.
Stone fruits seem to be a great way to try to fill out that thinner Cherry Extract and you can use FA Black Cherry (low) to fix how flat it is. Have not tried it with TFA Nectarine. Have you tried FA Apricot or any apricot flavor with it?
I actually did try throwing in fa apricot; I liked what it did for a cherry cola flavour. I’ll have to revisit it in this nectarine mix though because the first try didn’t really add much. Nectarine is coming through very dry so Im looking through options to thicken things up... I thought apricot would help a bit but it didn’t. Tried pear too...
You should definitely try nectarine, black cherry, and white peach with cherry extract. It comes through almost like one of those very cherry dole fruit cups. The dryness has forced me to back burner it for a bit, but it’s got really great potential.
I'm looking forward to see the top cherries. What are the best pairing for cherry?
SA Cerise Griotte @3% seems meh. Not getting any Bacardi's from it, which is good. Some hints of tartness like pure unsweetened cherry juice, just not as much. Wish I'd had time to prepare multiple percentages, there may be somewhere this one shines. I've got a similarly mixed other cherry from SA sitting on a shelf somewhere. (I'm gonna be quite irate if these turn out to be the great cherry flavors, given SA won't ship to canada any more.)
I never made the connection between cheap white rum and that common cherry off note until the first time you mentioned it, but as soon as you did, I could totally see it. I think it's even worse than just Bacardi, though. Like Bacardi 151 after it had been stored in some the wrong kind of plastic long enough to start dissolving that plastic.
Thanks for the note. 48 cherries here and none from SA. There are so many cherry flavors out there!
I've got the three from SA that were mentioned elsewhere. And dozens more. Even FW Swiss Cherry and the fake blood LA Cherry. And five or six INW cherry flavors, and I think MB and one or two VT, RF, WF, TFA, CAP, GL... And I believe PF. There's more I'm forgetting. The cherry blossoms. The marzipans. Cherry tobaccos. Cherry booze. Spumoni.
I absolutely love cherries and wanted a cherry candy mix as an ADV. I bought 3 cherries hoping that I could pull it off as a new mixer. All 3 ended up in the trash. No matter how low I went or what I tried to mix them with I ended up with cough syrup. I gave up until now. I am waiting for the show to see how I might be able to finally get this going.
Which ones were they?
Everyone's (well, maybe mostly /u/ID10T's) stories about cherry makes me suddenly very appreciative of the fact that I've never liked cherries in real life, let alone in vape form. But, Thank you for enduring cherry hell & allowing us all to learn from your experience. ;)
Haven't mixed yet but I look forward to getting some cherry flavors when I do start DIY! I'd also love to win that flavor pack:)
But anyway, any recommendations for specific cherry brands/types? I'm thinking i wanna make some kinda cherry cream flavors so I don't quite know where to start. Also, anyone's option on the marachino cherry flavor? Does it suck?
The best (straight) cherries are:
GL Cherry
TFA Cherry Extract
INW Cherries (note spelling. they have multiple cherry flavors)
and SA Cerise Griotte is kinda growing on me. I think 2.5% may be where I should've tried it.
Part 1
Noted Ep. 136: CHERRY (ft. Forment Life)
Rated worst to first Most of the cherry flavours have two distinct off notes- brand new vinyl shower curtain plastic. Or cough syrup, medicinal, chemical off note.
Discord advice- With cherries, when using a new flavour that you have no idea of what % to use start low -0.25% and work your way up until it tastes good to avoid unpleasant surprises!
German Flavors Cherry Yoghurt: Moderate butiric. Cherry not bad. Small amount of darkish cherry. Something like Amaretto in there. With sour barf-y chalkiness in the finish. (11.21)
German Flavors Black Cherry: Tastes like drinking cough syrup in a nail salon. Medicine cherry with a plastic off note. Touch of waxy vanilla which adds to the grossness. (12.06)
OOO Red Cherry Sour Balls: Vinyl shower curtain plastic and hairspray off notes. (13.09)
FW Cherry Balsam Tobacco: Not a good SF. But very reminiscent of the cherry on a Cheyenne mini cigar. Has a turpentine note that falls in line with the numbing sensation from a clove cigarette, which is also present in the Cheyenne cigars. If you added a dirty tobacco to it it would be a cheap, has station cigar. Has turpentine note, which is similar to balsam- both derived from wood. (14.30)
TFA Maraschino Cherry: Pretty terrible. Potent- 1 drop in 10ml is a lot. It's new vinyl shower curtain. Harsh. Makes juice cloudy. Forment Life tried it at 1.5%- had a strong lemon pledge lemon off note. Like a cherry cough drop soaked in lemon pledge and is incredibly astringent. Maybe it could be good if you made a dilution of used 1 drop in 30ml? Maybe not? (16.46)
TFA Black Cherry: Emily kind of like this flavour at 3%, did get a slight plastic wrapper note, but nowhere near to the extent everyone else got. ID10-T gets cough medicine with shower curtain plastic at 1.5%. The cherry isn't bad but it's far more plastic than cherry. Maybe it needs to be pushed up higher to work? (18.55)
LA Cherry: Medicinal with a little new vinyl shower curtain. Tested at 1%. (20.44)
OOO Happy Taffy Cherry: Cough medicine diluted with creamy, chalky, pink tasting base. Slight plastic off note. (21.39)
FLV Rainier Cherry: Sweet, tart, natural cherry with a heavy plastic off note. Frustrating as the cherry is good but the amount of plastic is insurmountable, no getting round it or covering it. Tested at 0.75%. Maybe at 0.25-0.5% it might work? (22.29)
FA Cherry: ID10-T gets a heavy plastic off note at 1.5%. Maybe too high? Emily kind of likes this flavour at 0.5%. (24.27)
VT Cherry Liqueur: Forment got strong plastic with a stronger throat hit than you'd expect from a liqueur flavour. ID10-T got cherry with fermented, bad tomatoes, almost savoury, not very sweet, not really boozy- just a little harsh. (26.10)
OOO Happy Rancher Cherry: Plastic off note. Sweet, syrupy, cough drop cherry. At 2% it's a really soft flavour. May be more saturated at around 4%? (27.54)
FLV Cherry Filling: Frustrating flavour. Great texture. Like a cherry gummy candy. Slight medicinal note, but not too offensive. Has a light spice note, which makes sense for a cherry filling but a bit odd as this is so candy like. Unfortunately, has strong plastic off note that can't be worked around. (29.20)
OOO Cherry Pie: Very weak at 5%. Diluted FLV Cherry Filling. Cherry gummy candy, sweet, with a bit of plastic, no bakery. (31.07)
FLV Black Cherry: Maybe should be lower? 'FLV Shower Curtain'. Very strong plastic note. Hint of vanilla. (32.14)
FW Wild Cherry and OOO Wild Cherry: Both taste pretty similar and both soapy. Although ID10-T maybe has a sensitivity? OOO is a little less soapy than FW. FW has a distracting vanilla note, it of place for a wild cherry. Also a little tarter than OOO. Cherry is dark, but not quite as dark as a black cherry, also a little tart and tangy. (33.15)
Jen Jarvis discussed OOO Blackberry and OOO Cherry on Mixin Vixens- Very potent flavours. Don't use above 0.25%. Blackberry gets soapy above that and Cherry gets plastic-y. Maybe OOO Wild Cherry is similar?
OOO Cherry Blossom Tea:
Has a little shower curtain cherry on the finish. Light, greenish, non-perfumey floral on top. Similar to jasmine, but muted and greener. Thick, marshmallow like body, without the vanilla. Horrible plastic finish. No tea or earthy notes.
(35.32)
Part 2
Noted Ep. 136: CHERRY (ft. Forment Life)
FW Maraschino Cherry and FW Swiss Cherry: Both taste like eating maraschino cherry flavoured chap stick. Unfortunately both waxy to the point they're almost unusable. FW Maraschino Cherry has a nice cherry and sweetness. A little almond, authentic to maraschino cherries. But, incredibly, deeply waxy. FW Swiss Cherry isn't quite so waxy, has a little more tartness on top. A little fruity vanilla (like Tahitian vanilla) in the base which doesn't distract. (37.08)
FE Cherry Cola: Won't in every possible way! Nothing that was strongly identifiable as cherry or as cola. Strong cinnamon mixed with plastic-y, cheap cherry candy. (39.31)
FE Cherry Cigar: Not like the taste of tobacco, more like the smell of somebody else smoking a cheap cigar. Ashy. With medicinal cherry. (40.25)
NR (Nic River) Cherry: Straight medicine cherry. (40.53)
NR (Nic River) Sour Red Cherry: Similar to their Cherry, but with more stuff going on. Which didn't improve it. (41.22)
FW Shirley Temple: A Shirley Temple is mostly grenadine, which is pomegranate, Sprite and a maraschino cherry as decoration. But this is more cherry than it should be. Cherry is a little medicinal which clashes with the lemon/ lime. Better to build a Shirley Temple from scratch. (42.00)
CAP Wild Cherry with Stevia: Not too terrible. Does have medicinal and plastic notes, but they're really light for the amount of black cherry flavour it has. The cherry is pretty good, Although more black cherry than wild cherry. Darker than the brighter, tarter wild cherry. Dark, purple grape note. Very sweet, sugar lips finish. A touch of the earthy note from the Stevia. Could be used low as a sweetener for other dark cherry flavours. (43.20)
FA Black Cherry and FW Black Cherry: Pretty similar. Would be hard to tell the difference in a mix. FA Black Cherry has some plastic, but not as much as a lot of other flavours. Not dark or sweet enough for black cherry. Not very authentic. FW Black Cherry is a little brighter and sweeter than FA and had slightly less of a plastic off note. But otherwise very similar. (45.01)
DEL Cherry: Doesn't have any of the usual cherry of notes. But lacking in cherry flavour overall. Almost nutty, slight woody note. May work in a tobacco. A little harsh. Tested at 5%. (46.53)
German Flavours Cherry: Light plastic off note. They have a wild cherry, but this tastes more like a wild cherry. Deep, sweet. Like a wild cherry Life Saver, candy. Juicy, saturated. Has slight ketchup note, similar to TFA Raspberry Sweet. If the off notes can be covered could be a good while cherry candy flavour in a mix? (48.20)
SC Cherry Cigar (same as FE Cherry Cigar): Discussed previously under FE Cherry Cigar. ID10-T got artificial chocolate, Tootsie Roll. No medicine or plastic cherry notes though. (49.18)
SC Old Cherry: More like rainier cherry- is a little brighter. A bit of a peach note. Quite smooth. Discussed now, but would rank higher. A light rainier cherry with some peach notes. Tested at 2%. Use a little lower in a mix as it's pretty flavourful at 2%. (50.16)
German Flavours Sweet Cherry: Bright red cherry candy, sweet. But with bright red cinnamon candy in it too. Like eating a cherry Jolly Rancher and Red Hots at the same time. Deep, saturated flavour. No plastic or medicinal notes. What would you do with it?! (51.49)
LB Cherry Blossom Tea: Not bad. Slight plastic cherry, but light enough to be covered in a mix. Pleasant floral with a little bit of white tea and a soft cherry. But a little bit of plastic on the end. Use around 4-5% (53.28)
CAP Tart Cherry: Pretty dull, may be harsh to some. Could use another cherry flavour to combat dullness or Marzipan to boost the cherry flavour without adding any potential cherry off notes. Not tart, but it's a bit brighter. Candied. Green, vegetale note at 3%. Not present at 2%. (54.38)
German Flavours Cherry Poppins: Cherry sucker candy with a touch of hairspray. Sweet, sticky, bright red cherry candy. No plastic off medicinal off notes. But like it's been made with a little too much FW Hard Candy- it's that specific type of hairspray flavour. (56.48)
TFA Cherry Blossom: Maybe should be higher? Syrupy, sweet, a little deepness. Pleasant, light floral that's easy to work with, not too aggressive. That floral can be subdued with creams. Can be used to make floral, cherry blossom candy- which Kopel did. ID10-T got very light plastic note, but others didn't. (58.08)
FLV Cherry Blossom: No cherry, like some other cherry blossom flavours. A floral that's very authentic to cherry blossom in cherry blossom tea. Although it's not a tea. Mellow floral. A little green, slightly sweet, a little dry, has a deepness. Really good floral. Only at this point in the rankings as didn't know where to put it- as it's not a cherry flavour, which it shouldn't be. (59.11)
Part 3
Noted Ep. 136: CHERRY (ft. Forment Life)
MB Red Cherry: Hyped flavour. Pretty good, a little flat. Waxy undertone. A touch of plastic that apparently steeps out after a month. Not a realistic cherry, cherry syrup. Tested at 3% (1.00.19)
FW Cherry Crush: Should be ranked lower? Astringent and harsh at 2-3%. Needs to be used lower. At 1.5% has some off notes, but not nearly as prevalent. At 1% no off notes but it's a little light. May not work as the single cherry in a mix. Cherry flavour is pretty good, like flat cherry soda. Use around 1% (1.02.02)
WF Black Cherry Jelly Bean: Should be higher? Can be hard to work with. Lovely, sweet, black cherry candy with some candy body. Maybe not authentic to a jelly bean, but definitely a candy. Thick, chewy, syrupy, gummy texture. But 0.5% flavour was a little weak. At 1% has plastic off note and may be slightly harsh to some. Can be covered in a mix? At 0.75% flavour isn't weak, plastic off note is light, body fills or more. Not very forgiving, a little too much or too little makes a big difference. Potent. Use around 0.75%. (1.04.34)
German Flavours Amarena Cherry: Cherry Amaretto Sour cocktail. Ameretto with sweet and sour mix, maraschino cherries and maraschino cherry syrup. A lot of Ameretto flavour with tart, citrus on top. Not boozy and cherry tastes write a bit darker than maraschino cherry - more like a black cherry Ameretto sour. Finish is a little powdery. No plastic or medicinal notes. (1.06.38)
Euro Flavours Amarena Cherry: Good but has a bit of an identity crisis. Either it's a natural cherry that's a bit too artificial or a candy cherry that's not sweet enough. No off notes - no plastic or medicine cherry. Similar to TFA Cherry Extract but rounded out with some EM, but without the sweetness of EM. Mellow, rounded body cherry. Slight tartness, a little juicy Could use as a background cherry, a cherry note in a fruit mix or with another cherry as part of a cherry layer. Tested at 1%, which is probably too low and why it was so mellow. At 3% medium intensity saturation. (1.08.37)
FW Cherry Blast: Probably didn't belong this high, unless you want to vape a cherry cough drop. A really good syrupy cherry cough drop, no plastic off note. Medium strength menthol. Almost exactly like a Hall's cherry cough drop. Could add a little Eucalyptus with Mint to really make it authentic. Could use as a SF at around 5%. 2.5% a little light. 5% saturated, cherry cough drop. (1.11.13)
VT Cherry: Belongs lower? Pretty weak for VT. Some may find it a bit harsh. Emily and Forment got some plastic. Most forgettable- not offensive but doesn't stand out. At 4% pretty soft. Used at 10% in a recipe. Bitter skin note on the finish. Tested up to 5%. Can use at 10%. (1.13.42)
FW Cherry Berry: Should be higher? One of Forment's favourites. Cherry Slush Puppy syrup. Works great in a candy or drink recipe. No medicinal or plastic off note when below 2%. But medicinal, cough syrup note at 3%. Too much cherry to be used just as a berry and too much berry to be used just as a cherry, but a good flavour of you need both. A slightly watered down strawberry syrup blended with a cherry Life Saver. Use around 2%. Medicinal at 3%. (1.15.37)
OOO Black Cherry: Flat black cherry soda after the ice has melted. Very top heavy, thin, not much body. Similar to some RF concentrates it has a weak finish with some raw VG coming through. No off notes. Useable in a mix for a black cherry top note. The base needs filling in. But there's a better, very similar option on this list. (1.17.16)
INW Cherry Concentrate: No major off notes, fairly sweet, nice candy wild cherry. Off notes at 1% as a SF that are not present at 0.75%. But has been used successfully at 1% in a mix though. Darker, thicker, sweeter, more saturated than INW Cherries. Use below 1% Recipe: Chasing the Dragon by Forment Life- used it at 1% in combination with TFA Cherry Extract. TFA is pulling a lot of the weight (1.18.56)
INW Cherries: Very thin, light, top heavy, no body, light and airy, sweet but dry. Some people get a spice note. Nice red cherry top note. Too harsh and dry at 3%. Too medicinal at 4%. Although Alfred Pudding's Counter Punch uses it at 4%. Use around 2-2.5%. (1.20.37)
TFA Cherry Extract: It's the TFA Blueberry Extra of cherries in that it's rarely seen as the only cherry in a mix. It's usually paired with another cherry in recipes as it's too dull and flat to be used as a single cherry in a mix. But has no off notes, although slightly harsh and astringent but this can be covered in a mix. It's good for filling in the gaps in other cherries. Not very sweet of bold or vibrant. Can be used from 2-8% (1.22.44)
INW Cherry Cigar: Very, very sweet, similar to a cherry cigarillo that has sweetener on the wrapper. May be too sweet for a lot of people who like tobaccos. Mostly cherry with the tobacco taking a back seat. A middle of the road cherry, darker, but not a black cherry. None of the usual plastic/ medicinal off notes though. The tobacco is drier, cheap, generic, cigar like with a grassy/ hay note. Not enough tobacco for it to be a good tobacco SF. Too much to be able to use it just for the cherry. (1.26.40)
INW Black Cherry Tobacco: No tobacco at all. Not even anything like that dirty note that TFA RY4 Double or FA Soho has that isn't really tobacco. It's like they took the black cherry out of a black cherry tobacco. Really good, bold, sweet, dark cherry without any off notes. Artificial without tasting like candy, has a lot of body. Not very sweet and really dry, which it's why it would fit into a tobacco so well. It wouldn't make the tobacco soggy. It would give in a fruit mix, but would need something else to make it juicy. (1.29.40)
HC Sour Cherry: Sweet, red, candy cherry. Not sour but has a good amount of tartness on top, as well as having some real depth and saturation. Sticky, sweet, accurate, candy cherry lollipop on the finish that lingers. The top note is a bit thin and the tartness leans a little into being almost floral. But the finish is really good. Could use INW Cherries to fill in the top note? On the dry side on top but finishes syrupy. (1.32.00)
INW Red for Pipe: Tastes like a mix of INW Cherries, INW Gold for Pipe and INW Dark for Pipe. Bright, red, almost candy, cherry right in top. Then leafier, gold pipe tobacco. Then much darker, spicier, fruity, smokey tobacco in the base. A bit of a weird combination, especially the bright candy cherry. But has no off notes, nothing notably wrong with it. 1.5% is a little short of being full flavoured. Could easily go higher with no off notes Use around 1.5%+ (1.34.14)
INW Black Cherry for Pipe: Prefect balance between the weighty, moist, pipe tobacco and the not particularly sweet, fairly dark, reasonably authentic cherry. Same cherry as INW Black Cherry Tobacco seemingly mixed with INW Dark for Pipe. Great as a SF. Tobacco is pretty complex and nuanced. Use around 1.5-2% as a SF. (1.36.40)
Flavor Monks Sweet Betsy Cherry: (Not part of the rankings). A solid cherry. Sits between realistic, natural, red cherry and a candy cherry. May come off as candy as it contains a fair bit of sweetener. No weird off notes besides a tiny touch of something medicinal. Definitely useable but take in account the amount of sweetness this flavour has. (1.39.51)
I cannot tell a lie... I wish there was a great tasting Cherry flavor that didn’t remind me of taking medicine.
Buy GL Cherry
Every cherry flavor either doesn't taste like cherry or taste like medicine to me.
Bacardi's white rum, actually. If you can come up with a cherry cocktail involving bad rum, even LA cherry becomes useful. Speaking of which..
.75% INW Lemon Mix
1% LA Cherry (or any cherry with the cough syrup/white rum flavor)
2% VT Fizzy Sherbet
3% VT Light Rum
4% LA Lemonade
Enough cooling to be cold but not a slurpee .
I used to mix bacardi's 151 with lemonade. With cherry lemonade it would've been better. And I would've gone through the bottle in time to get more before the stores closed. This should be a lot like that, only you'll (like me) not end up with the hangover my friends who tried the same thing ended up with.
