How do you research/expand your flavour stash?
submitted over 5 years ago by wvwvwvww

What process/es do you follow to get leads on new flavours that might work for you? For me it's mostly trawling through the What Can I Make on ATF, selecting +1 and +2 flavours in the filters section, and then I usually end up on this sub once I've decided 'giving some kind of pear/cream/part-of-a-bakery a go' is a good idea, to check a few posts or a flavour of the week. Sometimes I know I'm impressed with certain mixers and I'll go through all of their published recipes. I usually make sure I can find at least one recipe I want to make before I put it in my cart. I'm about to put in an order and I'd love to follow some other people in how they explore what's out there.

For recipes I check discord, and what are you vaping thread. For flavors I use Noted, FOTW, and the occasional discussion about flavors on the discord server.

Usually I check to see if there are any reviews. However, I'll take a chance on some flavors to see if they're any good.

Trying flavors that don't have any reviews or anything is kinda' fun - But be prepared for sadness if it sucks ass ..

However .. When you do find that hidden gem, there's nothing like it.

Every 6 months or so I do a 'new juice' research (mostly at this sub), pick a couple of new recipes and note the flavours that I don't have. Then research those new flavours which usually yields more recipes that I can make, then do a final review & order. Repeat after next 6 months.

The one thing I do most often is use "What can I make" and then sort based on rating. I'll go through the first page of results (24 recipes?) and read all the mixing notes and comment/reviews.

The Recipe of the Year threads are great sources for new recipes to try.

What a great left-of-field source of inspiration. I happen to have a massive herbal tea collection/habit too.

Really?

I love mixing and E-liquids & Teas have a lot of similarities!

Much more than Cocktails or Lemonades.

No one else has suggested any inspo outside of ejuice stuff so far. I like tea alchemy too, it's iced tea weather in Australia and I've been on a cinnamon or liquorice bender because I've been wanting sweet teas but I don't want sweetener or sugar in them.

I make lots of new recipes I carefully select based on everyone else’s comments in this thread. I then rate them on a scale of 0 to 5. Anything 4.5 or above is considered golden and I would remake. I’m over 300 now with a cut List of about 50. The problem is everyone’s tastes are different so you just need to try lots of recipes.

I keep a shopping list based on interesting recipes I've found. Usually after adding everything on my shopping list to my cart, I'll realize that I'm something like 13 dollars and 71 cents short of the free shipping threshold, so I'll impulse-buy a bunch of semi-random flavors until the threshold is met.

Trying obscure flavors with no published reviews can be exciting, and if you discover something meritorious, you can help the community by posting a review.
