Disheartened with DIY juice
submitted over 5 years ago by soilstackOne of "The Damned"

So disheartened recently , I mix my own juice due to cost more than anything else I’ve got a good mod (ageis legend & recurve sqonk) and good tanks ( kylin v2 kylin m and recurve dual) am happy with wire and builds. But over the 3 years of vaping and diy mixing, granted on the cheap I can’t find my all day vape. I try and mix shake and vape due to cost and time constraints. I have a sweet tooth and prefer Sweet flavours and high vg as pg seems to give me a harsh hit. Not a lover of tobacco or cake and cereal flavour. I have been trying to find a blue slush shake and vape recently (similar to IVG blue slushie ) but to no avail using OSDiy as well as all the others. So I’ve decided to put a pin in that one as they all pretty much suck. Please can the community help me out. I’m looking for a basic short steep Shake and Vape concentrate. Something that is fruity/sweet flavour I tried searching for a cheap jungle juice or something but to no avail. I’m based in the UK. I know it’s subjective etc but looking for some help and guidance cos to be honest for the past god knows how long I hate the taste of vaping but love that I don’t smoke cigarettes. Sorry I guess more of a rant at my self than anything but thought I’d ask you guys for some help. Thanks in advance

4 years later, I don't have an ADV and probably never will.

That's not a reason to get disheartened. It's a reason to try new delicious mixes all the time.

and what if they taste like shit every time across those 4 years?

Is this a hypothetical question or one steeped in life experience?

Assuming this is not a facetious inquiry, I'd say that the things to do would be to look at the recipes you're trying, then the gear you're using, then your sources for supplies.

2% CAP Marshmallow and PG/VG to your liking.

Otherwise, I don't want to rain on your parade, but suspect you will never find what you want. "Shake and vape" is a myth: I find anything other than two fruit concentrates still need to steep (including the three fruit and marshmallow recipes I have). It's how juice homogenizes. My simple recipes need 24-48 hours. They just don't taste right until they do.

Anyone that ever told you that you could have premium juice flavor in a shake and vape lied to you. It's taken me a year to develop an ADV that tastes great. There is no substitute for time and development. I won't accept that you have time or space constraints to do it: I live in an apartment and have little space to myself, but I manage.

+1 for steeping. There are some flavors that have a full spectrum of delicious over the course of the week or even day

by mysticalbuffaloover 5 years ago

Indeed. I'm brand new to this and have already seen differences in taste as little as an overnight, 12 hour, and single day steep.

I will steep juice for weeks. I mix things for now and mix things for later. I sometimes forget I put something away to steep haha

Do you mean your ADV is just the 2%cap marshmallow?

2 points

by TimInElmiraover 5 years ago

No. My ADV is a complex vanilla custard.

I can't vape pure unflavored juice, so I add 2% Marshmallow to buffer it. I use this recipe daily to vape CBD isolate. It is a simple satisfying vape.

Oh ok thank you. My ADV is vapetasia killer kustard and I'm on my adventure to clone it. And I gotta say tfa toasted marshmallow defintely adds that extra sweetness to the custards.

These are a few of my favorite fruit flavored recipes. Grack juice is kinda subjective, but I love it, there is also a version of it someone made with some cherry flavor in it that is good but I can't find it at the moment.

Apple Buttah, Grack Juice, Fantastic, Rhaegal's Thorn

I'm about 99 percent sure the cherry grack mentioned above is this one (and it's freaking great)

Ya that was the one, I think I subbed something for boysenberry and it still turned out great

1 points

by juthincover 5 years agoI improved Grack and all I got was this lousy flair

I'm pretty sure it was. OP should also try searching while he's there for Don,, Purple Lemonade, and Apple Blossom. The last really is best after a week steep tho.

I don't have one either, and I think it may be that there are so many options to experiment with. I have a few mixes I go back to from time to time, but generally I sit down to mix with a flavor profile in mind, look at my notes from previous mixes, and come up with something tweaked.

Four of my favorites, all from ENYAWREKLAW, all can be vaped right away, though some do develop some after a few days. No 4 week steeps or anything like that though.

chocolate milks a little too rich for a ADV for me, but I keep going back to it

lemon crumble cake I get mostly the lemon meringue pie from it

Orangsicle my newest ADV

Root Beer Float my first and forever ADV

This POG juice recipe from DIYorDIE is one of the many great ones I've gotten from there. It's a great ADV for me:

This one is a candidate to become my ADV. It is SNV so not a lot of planning required, light on the concentrates so cheap, not sweet so it is easy on the coils and I think I won't get sick of it. Simple and vapable - sort of like a boxed vin ordinaire that is inoffensive. Refreshingly tangy with an effervescent mouth feel.

I really like making this but instead of the 1% ripe strawberry I do 2%, sometimes 2.5%, liquid barn blue raspberry.

u/TheGreatCyrusKing mixed and dripped all that I ordered the blue candy is far my favourite absolutely love it thanks for the help. But wow I mixed it at 10% and it’s nice and sweet . From what you said you mix it at 25% that would probably make my teeth fall out it’s that sweet lol. Thanks again dude

Missed your comment! But that's awesome! I'm glad it worked for you! Also good to know I could scale down and use bottle for 2 batches, I'm going to try that next time! I did find it to be extra sweet at that concentration, there's about 40mls left that I haven't been able to get back to for that reason 😹. If I ever do blue candy again I'll try it lighter, the sweet peach tea is right on the money though, just sweet enough but not over the top like the blue candy

Just to rub it in . And again to thank you. Blue candy is still on sale so I bought another 20 bottles so that now is 900ml of concentrates for £30 👍 should keep me going till Christmas

Damn when I look it's still $13 a bottle and I'm dieing for more sweet peach tea 😹 that's awesome man I'm glad I could help out!

Just an update on my end, tried mixing a bottle of pineapple, mango, strawberry but cut the flavor in half, using 1 30ml flavoring to mix 2 120ml bottles. Not a huge fan of that flavor mix in general so I still feel "meh" about it but my wife says it's just as good as the ones that I mixed at the full 25% 👍 I might just like overly super sweet juice 😹

I have been lazy man diy-ing with OOO one shot mixes and I have been very happy, many here would likely find them too sweet but I'm on my second 120ml from them and loving both flavors. First was a blue raz candy and second is sweet peach tea, like I said I am very happy with them.

Personally I didn't have too much of a problem with how much sweetener they included (it'd be better to let the mixer decide) but their price and recommended percentage means you end up with a lot less finished juice than with most other oneshots I've seen/used.

1 points

by TheGreatKingCyrusover 5 years ago

They are the only ones I've tried so far, do you have a go to for one shot mixes? I'm planning on getting a full diy set up but for the time being one shot mixes and a gallon of premixed 80/20 .3 from Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers has kept me from having to worry about any flavor bans and kept any cig cravings away.

Thanks just ordered some blue candy and some other juices from the same brand there on sale at £1 for 30ml so it would have been rude not to. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it . I know it’s subjective but what % would you recommend. Are the strong concentrates? Thanks again

The blue candy was what I had! I enjoyed it, by the end the "candy sweet" flavor didn't totally turn me off of it but this sweet peach tea, new ADV for me I'm in love with it. As far as concentration goes I've just gone with their recommend, one 30ml of flavoring makes for 120ml of juice, you can scale that down if you'd like to just try it but when I say "lazy man's diy" I mean LAZY haha I bought a gallon of 80/20 .3mg unflavored premix from Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers with the paranoia of the flavor bans. (In retrospect I should have bought a few 1 liters instead of a gallon, the jug is so large it's hard to deal with.) Anyways I then cleaned and dried out an old 120ml bottle, dumped the entire 30ml bottle of flavoring and then topped off the remaining 90ml with the unflavored base. But even that I feel like could be cut down to your personal preference to make the oneshot last longer.

Try DIY or DIE concentrates. I think they are really good quality. I tried a lot of shake and vape stuff and concentrates and DoD is just better than anything else I had. Rhodonite and Blackout are great, but the Obsidian is my daily liquid. I am sure you can get that in the UK.

I’ve vaped for 10+ years and after thousands of commercial juices I’ve only found one that has been my ADV. with that being said I’ve been DIY’ing 4 months and have a ADV salt juice. Still trying to find my ADV freebase. It’s the journey that I feel makes all of this fun.

I second Hawaiian POG from DYIorDIE. It’s so damn good. All day vape for me.

Vape flavorless for a bit, vaping sweet juice all the time likely gave you vapers tongue.

Check out r/DIY_eJuice for mixing help.

Try some freehand mixing and you should test your flavors on the back of your hand by licking them and also as single flavors.

I justmix random things I think would taste good, I was doing recipes, but it's so time consuming to use on a phone. this last batch i did about 10grams of assorted flavoring 9ml pg 3ml nic (60% pg) and topped with vg in a 60 ml. first one was pineapple, coconut, papaya and mango. came out good. don't know about the other 6 i did, (all different but one was a one-shot) I like sweet fruity things. If i'm doing something more complex I'll use a recipe but I just wanted fruit variants and figured ehhh a little too much mango vs pineapple or vice versa won't kill me) hahahah this is terrible advice, but it's the advice I'm giving.

> I justmix random things I think would taste good

I do this all the time in 10ml bottles. When I find a fruity combo that tastes good or even just okay, next time I tweak it. I adjust percentages, or just add another flavor or sweetener/enhancer. It varies from mix to mix.

I've got probably hundreds of fruit flavors. It only makes sense to see if some of them like (or can help) eachother. I don't think I'm very creative with this stuff. I've tried tons of other peoples recipes that weren't right for me. I learn more from my own mistakes than I do with failed recipes.

Yeah. With recipes I’ve made, I have made some that sounded good on paper, but it’s been five months and I still haven’t used it again (a cherry one) it’s just not good.

I just randomly mixed (2/3 ish blueberry mixed oneshot 1/3 ish bubblegum oneshot and a dash of koolada) and it’s sooo good.
