Any recommendations for a sour flavor to use in fruit mixes?

Hey guys, I have a couple ideas I wanna try for myself that I think I'd like to add some sour/tang notes to.

I've been running through Lemonade recipes like shit through a goose and I've got just about every lemon/lemonade/lemon candy concentrate I could find. Right now Puckenade with about .3% CAP Super Sweet added is really close to the taste I'm looking for. I'm just curious if a tart citrus sour note might perfect it for my own tastes.

I'd also like to do some sour apple/cranberry/watermelon/blue razz stuff. I've looked at a bunch of recipes and I'm working through them but I feel like I'm at the point where I just wanna start throwing together some samples of recipes I really like with a little sour added in and take my time with nailing down what I like.

Do you guys have any suggestions for what I might try? I dont plan to use any sour notes with bakery/custard/creamy flavors right now. I just want that puckered, sour, tangy bite that kinda hits you in the back of the jaw.

Should I be careful with percentages? Do sour notes often overwhelm recipes? Would a citrus likely be more of what I'm looking for? Any advice would be appreciated.

If you're doing lemonades, a nice addition to add that tangy, sour note could be a bit of VT Fizzy Sherbet to enhance the lemons/citrus, and then some FLV Sour Apple to impart the sour. FLV Sour Apple DOES have some apple notes to it, so if you don't want that, but just some tartness, stick around 1%. But if you're cool with some apple in your mix, boost that shit to like, 3% or more. It can get bitter when you bring it up too high, but that'll kinda depend on you to figure out where that ceiling is.

Ok I've got VT Fizzy Sherbet already, I'll look into FLV Sour Apple some. Thanks man.

Getting sour into a vape juice is almost impossible at the moment. You can use TPA Sour but the more you add, the more it mutes flavours so it’s pointless because in small quantities it’s not noticeable. I don’t know much about malic acid but Wayne Walker from YouTube says that’s pointless too.

I've been using LB Sour Additive and I have mixed feelings about it. I feel like the first few days after mixing it's a nice tart element, but after that I couldn't tell you if it was there or not. The consensus on this subreddit seems to be that sour flavorings are impossible, but I've definitely had sour commercial juices in the past before so who knows the hell knows.

I use actual Lemon Juice I never go over 2% with it. It usually needs just a hit 0.5 - 1% to kick it in the right direction.
*edit I've done lime as well for the bite, but I prefer lemon.

I’ve seen tartaric acid mentioned on this sb by a formulator. He said it doesn’t fade like other sour additives. Haven’t tried it myself yet, though.

INW Lemon Mix is my goto lemon zest flagor. 5% LA Lemonade, .5% INW Lemon mix, cooling (so it's lemonade instead of NeoCitran) and maybe a touch of cactus Then add any decent fruit to make a variant.
