what are the "must have" custards?
submitted over 5 years ago by changg_

when I started vaping back in 2015 I was all about custards but for the last two years I've been all about super sweet fruit blends. I want to get some nostalgia flavors mixed up but I'm not sure which custards are good and which ones I should stay away from.

I'm about to make a reup order for my usual flavors, so what are some great custards I can add to my order?

From the top of my head:

  • INW Custard
  • CAP Vanilla Custard
  • FLV Vanilla Pudding (technically a custard)
  • FA Custard Premium (very hard to find in US)

I assume FA Custard is not the same as FA Custard Premium

Yep, they are 2 different flavors.

FA custard has a bit of lemony taste to it, which makes it great for lemon custard pies or sth.

Regular FA custard can be sold as Creama pasticcera.

It's refreshing to see Vanilla Pudding get love and attention, it's amazing.

It's amazinger mixed 1:8 with LB Vanilla Ice Cream (say 0.5% VP and 4% VIC) - that's a genuine S&V heavy custard (as opposed to a very realistic Jell-O pudding).

That's a good idea

I'm going to go and mix that up right now. Thanks for the idea!

TFA Vanilla Custard II is amazing.

DIYVS, aka DIY Vapor Supply has TFA Vanilla Custard II as well as a huge selection of other flavor companies. Unfortunately other common vendors don‘t have it yet, it‘s very new. Or you can order direct from TFA.

I've heard it's very good.

Don’t know about a “must have” but I took a punt on Solub Arome Custard as I found it for £1 somewhere. It has a kind of “cooked” flavour to it that other custards I’ve tried don’t have. It’s different for sure, have used it in a few recipes and it works really well. Also used it in recipes where that cooked flavour has ruined it. Solub Arome Vanilla Custard has that same cooked flavour, but overall was smoother than Custard.

itd be hard to find that in the US unfortunately. I'm just trying to add a handful of custards to me restock order. if I find a need for that one I'll definitely buy it

I went a little custard heavy in the beginning. Bavarian cream is an English custard FYI and ive only tried Capellas. Capella custard v1 imo is the classic custard. Cap NY cheesecake is a must have custard pairing low enough that its secondary.

I do have CAP NY Cheesecake and I have been playing with it recently. I'll add CAP Custard to my order. thank you!

You've inspired me to go back to my roots and make a classic custard only blend. Its what got me into DIY juice in the first place.

this will be my first order of any custard, so I'm excited. thinking back to a juice brand called "Oh Herro" with their Custardo!

I tried about 5 Bavarian creams (side by side) and came to the conclusion that Capella's was the worst of the bunch. It was downright stale in comparison to the others. Vaping Bavarian Cream flavors solo is a weird experience.

There‘s also a new TFA custard, which according to „Noted“ is the new #1, haven‘t tried it myself though. It is TFA Vanilla Custard ii.

It wasn't really the whole Noted crew, it was just me, the others hadn't tried it yet. And I said if I could only choose one custard, it would be TFA Vanilla Custard II.

BUT, if I could choose two custards, they would be FA Custard Premium and INW Custard. Why? TFA Vanilla Custard II is a more complete custard than FA Custard Premium, which is more butter than anything else, and it doesn't have the same issues as INW Custard (dry, lack of butter). But combine FA Custard Prem and INW, and you got yourself a terrific custard that beats TFA Vanilla Custard II easily. For the most part, anyway. There will always be situations where something that isn't usually as good is a better fit.

Honorable mentions to FLV Vanilla Pudding/Vanilla Custard, WF Vanilla Ruyan Custard, and the old CAP Vanilla Custard V1. And TFA Vanilla Custard I if you aren't a pepper taster.

VT Creamy and Warm Custards can fuck right off, and take PUR Vanilla Custard, WF Flan, OoO Custard, FW Vanilla Custard, MB Custard, and MB Legendary Custard with them.

ill have to check out Noted. do you know of any US vendors with the new v2?

Bullcity has it as well. The only one they don't have is fa custard premium, which you have to get from chefs uk

Cap Custard v1 MB Legendary Custard FA Custard Premium

In that order, in my opinion.

TPA vanilla custard 2. The replacement for cap vanilla custard. 5% is pretty good for most use cases

MB- Legendary Custard

VT- Warm Custard

Both are delicious.

by changg_over 5 years ago

unfortunately my regular US vendors dont have those brands. I'll have to make a special order at some point

Bull City Flavors carries both MB and VT. You'll find they have a good selection and prices.

1 points

by changg_over 5 years ago

thanks for that! I'll have to see how much of my regular order they have. dont wanna get just 2 flavors from one supplier.

How are Vanilla Custard WF and TFA II compared to others (inw, fa premium, cap vc1)? Would either of these two fit in your top2 custards? Must have?

2 points

by Denske203over 5 years ago

Tfa custard 2 is comparable to inawera custard in that is very neutral and will fit in many many different settings. I don't know how but they managed to liken the sweetness to real custard though. That's my only issue with cap vcv1 is that it is not sweet enough. Personally as far as immediate must haves tfa vanilla custard and cap vanilla custard v1. If your a custard lover then eventually I would try to obtain the FA custard pi and inw custard combo.

Has anyone tried flavormonks G's custard and divine custard? Or any other flavor monks flavors, I ordered a lemon, raspberry, divine and g's custard a week ago and haven't gotten to try them yet. The g's custard smells better than divine but both smell good

It's excellent. Probably the best creamy banana flavor available.

Unfortunately in order to make the nostalgic 2015 custard flavor you will have to use diacetyl which everyone stopped using because of the popcorn lung scare.

2 points

by Dum_Hedover 5 years ago

You can still buy all of those flavors..........

Easily.
