Have you tried drinking more water. I notice I immediately get it when I start to get slightly dehydrated. I dont drink what I should in the winter so something as simple as too much coffee or a monster and it's gone. I cant taste anything sweet. I k ow the o ly think for me is keeping a juice that I know how it tastes as a reference. So that I know if it is me or bad ingredients.

This is what is hard for me to learn in DIY because of the time you need to wait to steep you dont know if it is correct for a while.

Have a shake and vape as reference so you can use that to tell if it is you or not, stay hydrated and for me switching to strong menthol on reduced watts will help me get over it quickly

How do you compare what you mix with commercial mix? Do you find it more or less flavorful?

I have a few muted recipes and a few good ones. Mostly is about nailing the right % for me.

Most of the time when I follow someone else recipe it’s a clear mistake. Not good. And certain flavors praised by others are just plain cardboard.

So don’t despair. You will find your flavors and your own recipes.

Compared to commercial they are a lot less flavorful. And from reading in here I thought it wasn’t good to raise percentages... so try lowering them or no?

Do you add sweetener to the things you mix? I think the main difference between commercial and DIY is the sweetness. I believe the standard level in commercial juices is 2% TFA sweetener? I thought using a lot of sweetener can mute flavours though so maybe would need to increase the % a little bit?

These aren’t things I’ve tried yet but I was planning to play around with using more sweetener to see what happens. (But probably gonna use CAP Super Sweet rather than TFA) Maybe see if I can get the flavour to pop a bit more? Although that could be at the cost of some of the nuance? I think a lot of the commercial juices are simpler, sweeter and bolder as they have to be able to work in all different types of RDAs, tank etc, including those that don’t have great flavour.

I’m not saying you have to use as much sweetener as commercial juices, just that some really makes a difference and maybe playing around with the level of sweetness could help- if you haven’t tried that already? Or maybe mix some more simple recipes as they may taste bolder?

Raising flavour percentages isn't always bad in general. E.g., if you vape MTL instead of DTL, slightly (not astronimically) raising the flavour percentages while keeping the balance the same can work very well.

Using a bit more PG (flavour carrier) than VG (clouds, but also slightly muting flavour) often gives better results. If you are using 70VG/30PG, maybe try 60/40 or even 50/50.

Adding sucralose like CAP super sweet can help, it often makes a juice "jucier" and sucralose is pretty much the one and only ingredient you don't smell only, but actually taste on your tongue, which adds a lot to the overall experience. We often mix up tasting and smelling when it comes to vaping, since the overall "taste" includes what the smell buds pick up.

I always find eating something spicy and then drinking coke resets my tastebuds for vaping... it sounds weird but it always works!

Spicy food always "wakes" up my taste buds and amplifies flavors for me as well.

What VG/PG ratio are you using? If you're using more than 70% VG, try 70/30.

Yeah I prefer max VG but I’ve even tried 60/40.

I'm in the same situation and it's driving me crazy.
