Hi again DIY community it's the lonely millenial back at ya with a tasty Christmas treat. Last recipe I put out didnt do so well, so I want to make it up to ya'll. Trust me when I say this is by far and away the best thing I have come out with ever. Before I get into the notes I just wanted to say I am a recovering heroin addict sober since 12-23-2014. Today is a very important day to me because it's my 5th year of sobriety and my life has changed so much for the better in this last year. Anyone out there struggling with life should know if I can make my life better, you can too. I have had a pretty rough ride since exiting the womb and even that didnt go well cus they had to cut me out after 72 hours of labor. We all have things we need to work on but really what helped my mood the most is learning to appreciate the stupid things. If you have a bed to sleep in, food to eat, and a roof over your head, by golly there are millions of people in the world that would kill for those things. So this Christmas let's talk about what we are thankful for and I personally am thankful for you the DIY community. Most notably the noted and developed crew Dave, Emily, Cheebasteeba, Folkart, Max, Nacheef, and Graham as well as Apexefied, Foment Life, Dragon Lady, Modivin, and Isaumadog you all do so much for the mixing community and it doesnt go unnoticed. Anyways heres my notes I hope you guys enjoy and have a happy holiday. Tell me what your thankful for this Christmas in the comments!
Notes - going to do a quick notes here and the full notes can be read on ATF. I really struggled making an authentic pie filling because when you mix apple filling and country apple it tastes like a entenmans pie filling. I wanted grandmas apple pie and I got that finally by adding FA apple stark. The caramel combo was the hard part and I tested a lot of combos but finally settled on a trinity of epic caramel proportions. The pie crust I added but all it does is distract from the amazing apple caramel combo and I could drink this stuff. This stuff tastes so good I took out the crust cus it was distracting. If you want it though add 1% Apple pie - FA & .6% biscuit JF/FA. No sweetener trust me!
Flv - Apple Filling 3% no subs
PUR - Country Apple 3% no subs
FA - Stark Apple 1% any pure red apple will likely do
Flv - Rich Cinnamon .2% no subs
FW - Butterscotch Ripple 3% no subs
FW - Salted Caramel 2% whatever you have

Ayy fellow heroin addict in recovery here good shit on the 5 years missing some flavors for this recipes will add them to the “to get “ list ... vaping as a hobby saved my life ... good luck always here if you ever need to holler
I completely understand and similarly I had a really shitty life event happen in my 3rd year in sobriety. It took me from happy and engaged in life to, still sober, but miserable and isolated. It wasn't until a when I started mixing that I started to get happy and invigorated again. That's why I like posting these recipes, it gives me a way to connect with other people and it also pushes me to mix better cus I want people to enjoy it. Thanks for speaking up and same goes for you if you ever need to talk!
Massive congratulations on 5 years! Mixing has 100% helped me a lot with my recovery too. Why do you think there is such a lot of people the mixing community who are also in recovery?! I knew of a couple of other mixers but I didn’t realise till fairly recently (probably when i joined Reddit actually) how many there really are. Anyone got any insight or theories as to why that is?!
I was about to say maybe it just goes with the subject of "becoming healthier", and how dropping cigs for vaping is in line with that, but then again I'm definitely not proof of that lol. I've been off dope for a number of years (off suboxone a year) and the reason I originally started vaping 7 years ago? Basically to save cig money so I could afford more drugs lol. I stayed because I liked it and I've always loved having tinkering hobbies, but that's another story.
I honestly don't think there's much correlation between the two though; I think it's simply that vaping & mixing is more mainstream now so it attracts all types, and that unfortunately opiod/heroin addiction is a crisis right now and has been for years, especially with the younger generations that are eager to try new technologies. So there's lots of overlap.
Great job on the 5 years! Can't wait to mix this up over the next few days and try it out. It sounds incredible. I don't have FW salted caramel, so I'm gonna sub VT salted caramel in. Have any experience with it at all as far as if I should keep it at the same percentage?
Gratulation for the past 5 years, stay very careful for the next 5 years!
When Relapse (it is possible!) please don’t use Street Heroin (because of unknown percentage)
Thanks for the concern buddy but I am in a pretty healthy mindset as of late. If I can get through losing a child without relapsing, I feel I can get through anything. I have a good support system in my family and I vigorously retrained my mind as to get rid of a lot of the self defeating/sabotaging behaviors that were enabling my addiction to begin with. I do know I must be ever vigilant and aware that I will always be an addict.
Congrats on the five years man. I'm about 7 months sober myself and vaping has been a nice little low-harm vice to pick up the slack when I feel that old restlessness creeping in. Thanks for the recipe, I just ordered those caramels so I'll definitely be mixing it up in the next week!
Congrats on 7 months man! Addiction is unfortunately a lot more common in the last few generations, so we aren't alone, that's for sure. Really though all it takes to stay sober is wanting it bad enough and taking enough time to figure out what made you that way in the first place. If you ever are struggling dont hesitate to reach out!
I vape this profile a lot, need to pick up a few flavors... but saved! Thanks and congrats :)
I hate seeing a really nice looking recipe with multiple flavors I dont have. But if your into mixing and really enjoy making your own recipes, you never have enough flavors and the stash is always growing. Just like the ever growing, always present, shopping cart at bull city flavors. Pretty sure its omniscient at this point.
Congrats on your sobriety, that's damn awesome. I don't have JF/FA Biscuit. Are they so much different than INW Biscuit?
Congrats on getting your marbles back! Now it's time to learn how to use them ;)
HP willing will have 5 years in June
Lol subtle Hook reference there I barely caught. It made me miss Robin William's, wish he was still around. Its amazing how connected you can feel to someone without ever having met them. He had his own addiction and depression issues that he battled with throughout his life. Noone is above mental illness. Will give you a high five in just, sorry as they say in AA, no fronts.
Congrats on the 5 years, that is such an awesome accomplishment. Just keep staying strong and you can have many more. I only have a few months myself but I just recently discovered diy and it has been a blessing. It gives me something to do with all this free time that I have now that I'm not out chasing money and dope all day. It's a fabulous hobby that I think is like an art where you can really create something beautiful. And it also gives me a constructive way to spend this extra money that I have now that I'm not shooting it all up my arm. I'm sure you already know this but if you're ever having a hard time just reach out and someone here will do whatever they can to help you. Once again, congrats and keep it up.
