what do you folks do with failed/not tasty batches?
submitted almost 6 years ago by changg_

at first I didn't want to waste 10ml of juice I made so I suffered through them, but lately I've been tossing them. curious as to what everyone else does

I'll put them in the back of my juice cabinet and forget about them for a while. If they're still horrible after a good long steep, I give them to my daughter's boyfriend.

I audibly laughed at this. good one

I bite the bullet and use failed mixes as the last top-up for an RTA that's due for a new coil or cotton. Shame-vape your way through it like a fully-grown adult!

by changg_almost 6 years ago

it's really hard to vape thru 10ml of unsatisfying juice in a dripper ):

1 points

by Nostrapapasalmost 6 years ago

Imagine trying to shame vape 10ml in an MTL dripper. I throw them out if they're still junk after 3-4 weeks

I chant satanic incantations and send that bullshit straight to hell.

I ask my buddies if they wanna try it. If they say no, down the drain it goes.

by changg_almost 6 years ago

alrighty now I won't feel bad dumping it. thanks!

by DeadcthulhuXalmost 6 years ago

I wouldn't sweat a 20ml bottle. I once had a failed batch of 120ml that I fucked my measurements up on. That went down the drain... It was painful.

4 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

oof...that is precisely why I stick to 10ml batches unless its really good, I'll mix a 30ml. we learn from mistakes

Never been put in that situation yet but I've come close. Easiest thing for me is make it sweet and creamy. Sugar Cookie, Biscuit, Cream Fresh for example. There's tons of ways you can muddle up an already muddled mix to make it pleasant enough so you don't have to throw it out. It all depends on how you fucked it up in the first place

what prompted this post; I put 1% INW Cactus in a mix and that is literally all i taste and it is not good. i don't think it can be saved, but I've dumped 10ml mixes before so I just wanted to gauge other folks responses. any suggestions to get rid of or mask 1% Cactus would be awesome lol

4 points

by fishaddict420almost 6 years agoDelightfully Mediocre

Mix another batch on top of it but with no cactus in it

1 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

it was a recipe I've made in the past and have enjoyed, so I added (too much) cactus because I've heard it helps enhance fruity recipes. I'll just try less next time!

Ask u/leachim6 for cactus now recipe

by ShillTheAlmightyalmost 6 years ago

I put 1% Cactus in everything. Sometimes more. Just send it to me because I love that shit. It also calms down after a steep.

Nicotine passes right through wastewater treatment plants, and is harmful to aquatic live. Unwanted nicotine solution should always go in the trash, never down the drain!

Fair thought, however the millions of gallons of water would dilute it enough to be almost a null and void point for aquatic life haha.

by PandoraPoealmost 6 years ago

Sure, maybe for one single bottle being dumped out.

But if people keep doing it, along with the cig butts that end up in the ocean, its suddenly a huge problem.

We need to prevent problems before they get too bad, and the whole "a little bit won't matter" attitude is the reason our planet is going to shit.

Google scholar finds 7570 scientific papers concerning the subject of nicotine in wastewater:

this is a result of paying so much for juice that every drop is precious. :)

Ditch it :) Life's too short to suffer bad juice :)

Some batches just need some extra time, let it steep and try it in a couple of weeks, just make sure to write what it was, since you won't remember by then.

true. I have a few sitting in a cigar box but there's some I just have to dump unfortunately

https://wagwalking.com/condition/nicotine-poisoning

Cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco (snuff) are all dangerous to your dog as well as to humans. In fact, even cigarette butts can be deadly to your dog if he eats enough of them. Since it is the filter that holds all of the nicotine, cigarette butts hold just as much nicotine as the whole cigarette, so it is important to pick up cigarette butts and dispose of them in the trash. With the discovery of nicotine gum, electronic cigarettes, and other aids to help people quit smoking, the amount of nicotine poisoning episodes has risen quite a bit. Reports of accidental nicotine poisonings have gone from 269 in 2011 to 1,212 in 2013 according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers. The good flavors and the high content of the drug in e-cigarette liquid are suspected to be the culprits of this resurgence in reported poisonings. It may not help that those who use the e-cigarettes and liquid refills consider them to be relatively safe, leaving them unattended within reach of their dog. Unfortunately, the nicotine is readily absorbed through the skin as well as the lungs and gastrointestinal system, making it a highly toxic danger to your dog. Although it may be slowed by the acids in your dog’s stomach, the absorption will eventually be absorbed by the intestines and liver, making the removal more difficult once it reaches the bloodstream. The kidneys are only able to excrete approximately 2% to 35% depending on the amount of urination. It only takes about four milligrams of nicotine per pound of body weight to be fatal. This means less than a teaspoon of liquid nicotine or one cigarette can be fatal in a small dog, so it is important to go to the veterinarian or animal hospital if you believe your dog has ingested any nicotine at all.

So what should I do if my dog has been eating 30ml since birth

3 points

by HettDizzle4206almost 6 years ago

Use it as base and add more nic and flavoring and whatnot. It's still usable material, just tastes bad, so water it down to where it's like it's not even there

I've been making juice for 8 months. I've never thrown away any failed mixes. One tempted me to, it was Ocean Water. Not a big fan of coconut I've come to find out. I mix in 60ml bottles, and I just can't bring myself to waste a whole bottle.

1 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

can I ask what the recipe was for ocean water? I've been thinking about making one cuz I have 3 different coconut flavors after trying to clone lava flow for a coworker

1 points

by ChromaLifealmost 6 years ago

Here's the link.

1 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

did you dislike it just because of the coconut? seems like a real low percentage

2 points

by southernrailalmost 6 years ago

when that happens to me, I add about 1% Ws-23 or another cooling agent. always surprised. but I also am no stranger to dumping down the drain, too. life is too short and when you DIY, it's too cheap to suffer much.

3 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

I'm skeptical with cooling agents..idunno why. I love mint/menthol/ice with my pod systems but not for rda. does 1% make it really noticeable on the cooling factor?

1 points

by southernrailalmost 6 years ago

I don't have a RDA but have heard that 1% would be a lot with that application. it would be very very noticeable. I have a sub ohm tank and 1% is right perfect for me.

2 points

by WayToTheGravealmost 6 years ago

This doesn't involve DIY but still applies. I just closed my b&m vape shop after 4 years and I have a bunch of juice leftover. I am masking all of my least favorite flavors with menthol.

2 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

sorry to hear you guys closed. I work at a b&m and do online sales so I definitely feel for you. thank you for helping the smokers trying to quit while you were in business!

I would do the same with Cinnamon Red Hot (or both if you hate your throat). That can overpower anything.

2 points

by Morgan_Druryalmost 6 years agoCoil Sauce Sommelier

I let it steep for a few months. Depending on what it is, if it still sucks to vape, I try adding it to food.

2 points

by ApeCloudzalmost 6 years ago

I have a fail jar, about a liter bottle, where I dump all my less than perfect mixes in and at the end...everchanging ejuice. With so many different mixes in the bottle you vape a different flavor every couple of hits. It's actually quite entertaining and the mix isn't half bad.

2 points

by Dawg-Riversalmost 6 years ago

I always make small 10 - 15 ml test batches. Try after about 1 week steep. If no good, bk in cabinet for another 3 weeks. If still bad, down the drain it goes.

Sometimes I'll stare at the recipe, and ponder at where things went wrong. How things could've been better. How much money I could've saved. How little time I could've wasted. How maybe the world just is better without it...my life that is. The e-liquid I usually just toss in a bin

1 points

by changg_almost 6 years ago

can't toss my life in a bin. unless...?

yeah I try just giving away 10ml bottles but I'm the only one in my circle that drips so it's hard. people dont wanna waste their precious coil heads

1 points

by dundermifflinit3almost 6 years ago

I messed up terribly on a 60ml bottle, I tried forcing myself to vape it for about a week but every single time I inhaled I would gag lol. It's still currently in my room just sitting there.

1 points

by upboatugboatalmost 6 years ago

I'll toss any quantity if I can't vape a tank of it, I particularly hate tfa strawberry ripe over 6 months. Candied fruits steep better but fresh is pretty damn good shake and vape IMO.

Bin half of it then RY4 / Ethyl Matol the rest up.

Add super sweet 3% 😂

by Denske203almost 6 years ago

Honestly I do 5ml batches for anything that I am testing. It isn't too hard unless your working with rich cinnamon or something super strong. 5ml batches for testing brand new ideas and 10ml when it's good enough to vape for a while to get an idea of what it needs.

1 points

by St1llFrankalmost 6 years agoThis flavor... This is not my kind of flavor

I try to power through them. Sometimes it helps to throw something at it like sweetener, WS23 or some other enhancer or flavors. But I have a brown grocery bag that gets tons of little 10ml bottles of failed or just unliked mixes/testers. The amount left in each bottle varies but it all goes down the drain. I also dump bigger bottles that sit around getting old being unused. I get sick of things pretty quickly.

by Kaldausalmost 6 years ago

It can be really hard sometimes, I accidentally ruined an entire liter of pre-mix the other day by using a dirty beaker, If it is just a taste I dont enjoy I will offer it to others to try and if I find someone who enjoys it I will let them keep it. If it is a matter of seeing something wrong with it or if it tastes "off" not just unpleasant I will toss it.

This might sound weird, but if you don't mind the smell try using it as an Car air freshener

Plastic bagie, juice and a little plastic holder thats open at the top so it doesn't mess up your car or fall over.

Or were we are from the sell refillable glass bottles you hang up, we just refill those, hang them up and the sun does the rest

Ps. We don't have nicotine in our juice

Trash. Not worth wasting coils playing with it.

Turbs out I hate all tropical. Wish I knew that sooner.

by kvn4almost 6 years agoSir-Mix-A-Lot

Might seem weird but I mix them and try after a month just to taste the profile. sometimes they are vape able. I try to taste what it tastes like which drive me nuts. others that I don't like are in the drain
