As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is.... BLESSED TRINITIES!
Doing a little something different this week heading into the Christmas holiday. These divine threesomes were all intelligently designed to work as layers in different recipes. They all use three ingredients to try to make improved versions of each of the flavor profiles. There are plenty of other stones and bases out there like these, but the powers that be have given each of these their blessings and now they appear as bot commands on the DIY_eJuice Discord server. For example, typing "!Blueberry" in that server brings up:

Not sure how well would this sit in a FOTW show, but anyway... Brands make us happy with new flavorings here and there and it might make sense to make FOTQ (Quarter) at those rare occasions – when only new flavors on the market in the previous quarter are reviewed (in your least to most exciting flavor format).
Have no doubts this would be highly interesting episode for all (everyone's excited about new flavors on the market, right) + brands would surely appreciate it + it would surely be exciting week for everyone in your team, right? (also, sometimes many of those great new flavorings get forgotten until it's their turn again in FOTW every two years). One show quarterly exclusive for the new flavors i had in mind.
That would be fun! It certainly seems like something people would have a lot of interest in.
Are you... are you volunteering to the responsibility for monitoring everything that’s been released each quarter by all the many flavor makers and providing a list at the end of the quarter so I can make sure to obtain and sample them? Cuz it kind of sounds like that’s what you’re doing.
Sure. I'll send you a list of new flavors 30 days before the show so you'd have enough time to obtain and sample them (and final updates in the following 2 weeks; if any).
I know a few of these work really, really well. The ice cream trinity is very modular, and that makes it really easy to enjoy and use for plug and play recipe development. To wit dripwich++
Unrelated though, I notice the list of upcoming FOTW posts is starting to dwindle down. Mind if I make a few requests? I know it's a rough topic given the minefield of sub-mediocre flavors available but we haven't talked about cherries in quite a while, and I'd love to see discussion(s) on some various boozy flavors again.
Added Cherries!
It's been long enough since we last did boozy flavors but I learned from last time that booze is a broad enough category that we could do separate weeks for each of them. Any particular boozes of interest to you? Seems like we could have separate weeks of gin, bourbon/whiskey, rum...?
A few more suggestions . . .
It's been a while since Soda was done - Root Beer had it's own week, shouldn't COLA get a week of it's own?
Both Caramel and Butterscotch are in the books, but what about their cousin TOFFEE?
And if you really wanna go out on a limb - how about FA-WTF for all the weirdly named things from FlavourArt - like Zen Garden, Summer Clouds, Cocoon, Hypnotic Myst, and Joy. (grin)
> Any particular boozes of interest to you?
Gin for me please :)
Well, that's simple. FlavorMonks.
Then VT botanical gin. And FA Gin. Add to cranbery sprite FTW.
Let's see a "boozes only redeeming quality is their ability to get you riggity riggity wrecked". So Ouzo, Sambuccca, Absinthe (notice a trend in nasty booze flavoors?)
Are there any brandy flavorings out there? Because I know for sure I don't want to be anywhere near that after trying E&J this weekend lol.
I'd like to request perhaps a winter seasonal fotw. Seems interesting, but not sure if it's been done before.
It's really broad an open to interpretation as to what to include. If there's any particular wintery type of flavor that interests you, I'll add it. Trying really hard to get more narrow and focused than we've been in the past here, not less
Blueberry Trilogy by u/juthinc
- 2% FW Blueberry
- 3% TFA Blueberry Extra
- 0.5% FA Bilberry
- .1% INW Lemon Mix
It is a well-known fact that a little bit of just about any lemon makes just about any blueberry or combination of blueberries better.
Thanks, but it's not like I created anything. Tweaked, more like.
I would be interested in nuts and candy/gummy additives. Also wine and champagne would be great. Thank you and all that you do for this wonderful community.
Gummies haven't been featured as FOTW since Jan 2018. Added!
Any particular nuts you're interested in? (so hard not to make a deez nuts joke here)
It wasn't that long ago that pistachio and nut mix/mixed nuts was FOTW, and although you'd have to go back a little further to find pecan, and further still to find peanuts... has there been some great-leap forward in nut vaping technology since then? (new flavors come out that you're aware of?)
Seems coffee is a tough one in general.. ran out of Hazelnut Coffee (HS), but I liked Krucial's Hazy Coffee for a lighter / creamier cuppa in the morning. It's very far from 'Blessed' but as far as non-harsh and smooth coffee guess as a trinity it'd be.
- Hazelnut Coffee (HS) 3%
- UP (FA) 1.25%
- Horchata (Cap) 1%
Ignoring the vbic/creamy hazelnut (FW) as they're there to lift the cream and accentuate the hazy.
Have a few other coffees from FA/VT I need to try. Would love a good trinity, maybe one that works to tame FA Dark Bean Espresso? Any legit coffee / latte trinity or a lost cause?
Have you tried PUR Caramel Coffee with Sweet Milk? No trinity needed really - it's a perfectly fine shake and vape. 4-5% for rdas and 8-10% for MTL seems to work well. I added 1% FLV Cream and lots of WS-23 to mine, for a frappuccino.
Cool, I'll add it to my nicriver cart. I've got INW and TFA Caramel Capa., based on some recs, but even using them at a drop per 10ml got harsh / burnt offnotes. Think at least TFA had a pretty potent and unpleasant smell that was offputting, that I pick up on even in small amounts and after steep. Still like with FA Dark Bean I haven't really got around to trying to see if i can tame it with creams. Hopefully Pur's is more to my liking.
I'd love to see a pineapple trinity.
I heard a rumor Graham (Developed) has one.
You know what they say, be the change you want to see.
If I wanted to make one I'd probably start with my very old one and adjust from there
- 5.5% INW Pineapple
- 0.8% CAP Golden Pineapple
- 0.5% TFA Pineapple
Looking at my notes on various pineapple things I've tried, I don't think I would change out any of those ingredients if I wanted a pineapple juice flavor. However, if I wanted a distinctly candy pineapple, I'd probably toss all three and mess around with some combination of WF Pineapple Candy and VT Sugarloaf Pineapple, maybe a tiny bit of INW Dragon fruit.
VT Sugarloaf Pineapple is wonderful, just got some in. Gonna try it with some INW Dragon fruit, thanks for the idea.
Would be great if you could add /u/kindground 's solid Lemonade trinity without using any Lemonade flavors.
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/144595#bill_d_lemonade_by_kindground
Done!
I guess it could be the Lemon trinity since lemonade was taken and I'm sure this would have gotten a big more attention if it was posted here along with ATF too. I don't think any shows picked it up either because he just finished noted and dropped a huge lemon thread here so it got lost in the shuffle.
This with 1% less FE Lemon & BB trinity = babies. FE/VT Sour has staying power but then step children not related to you come to live with you once the Sicily fades.
That's when you have another kid to make up for it with FLV Sour Apple.
- How old are some of these mixes? I'm an occasional dropper byer, so not familiar with all of them. I'm gonna have to get down on that cheesecake though.
I have INW Peach and Pear, and they are both phenomenally realistic IMHO. Do new flavors "replace" old mixes or are they both worth exploring? (NB Idk when any of these flavors came out.)
- I see you have Christmas on the list, but not the greatest holiday of all - Halloween. Lots of time to prepare 😉
Edit - if this says 1 twice idk what's going on, when I edit it it says 2 lmao.
Thank you. I've been waiting on this. I figured there were some I missed. Hadn't seen Pear or lemonade.
Blueberry, strawberry, ice cream and cheesecake are ones I've tried, I'm a fan of all of them. Mix and matched types and they work well together. Haven't tried multiple fruit trinities in a single mix yet.
Brand new to mixing and I've been waiting for this FOTW to come up (well, this and grape, which I'm still struggling with, mostly because I don't know where to start. Sigh) Super excited to start playing around with some of these... Hopefully it won't be too long until I can contribute something mix-worthy to these parts.
Oh, & can we also add Apple to the upcoming FOTW list?? Pleeeease? :D
Too many different types of apple for one week. Is there a particular type that especially interests you?
Red apples... Like, snapple apple/apple juice apples.
Hi everyone, can someone explain me how does the term trinities works?
I always tought you need 3 kinds of the same flavour (3 strawberries or 3 mangos...).
But as a brazilian surrounded of fruits and checking this list I'm starting to wonder I was wrong.
Because nectarine, peach and apricot are 3 different fruits. And fuji isn't a kind of apple? At least here is the most famous.
Thx
It needs three similar flavors that complement each other to make one well rounded version of something.
Fuji Apple and Pear are both pomaceous fruits and a little bit of an apple flavoring might be the best route to a juicier, brighter pear, versus adding another pear flavoring.
Nectarine, Peach, and Apricot are indeed three different fruits... but they're all stone fruits, and Nectarine and Apricot might be the best additions to a peach flavor.
That sort of thing. Yes it has an Apple in there, but it's just made to taste like a really good pear. Too much apple and it would become a pear-apple mix, but just a little just adds a quality that the pears are missing, for example. That's why you see Cornbread in the cake trinity (that grainy texture that the cake flavorings lack) and Boysenberry in the blackberry trinity (jammy sweet thick base that reinforces the blackberries without getting too floral).
Nectarine is a peachalike, much like mango (only nectarine lacks the redeeming aspect of Pinesol that mango has). Possibly apricot is similarly tainted with that hideous peachiness?
Hmm, in flavours maybe, but talking about fruits, mango and peach doesnt remember nothing each other.
Here in brazil we have a few kinds of apricot, even beachs apricot ( which I ate most often during my life). But doesn't sound nothing like peach also. Its a kinda earthy.
Using the translator (English -> Portugueses), Apricot gets the name of Damasco, wich i think should be Damascus in english, right?
And thx for your answer.
I think apricots did tend to be grown in Damascus, so that could be related. But yeah, I was referring to the taste of the fruits, since that's the relevant aspect for our purpose. If you tried making actual (beverage) fruit juices, you'd have a gard time with a blind taste test (even if you were able to kepp from vomiting from the peach flavors) telling which is which.
Question... Given that RF is not all that available anymore, does anyone have a suggestion of what to use as a sub for RF Blackberry in the Blackberry Trinity?
I thought I read somewhere that RF would still be available under another name. I have a 30 ml of Blackberry and I’m hesitant to mix with it until I know I can get more.
Are the trinities posted on ATF? I was able to find Ice Cream by pizza and Lemonade by Puck - but no luck finding the others. Could/should they be posted under the DIYeJuice Discord account?
That’s a good idea assuming credit is given and permission granted.
Credit given is easy enough - but are you taking on the task of getting the permission granted? If not, maybe prod the creators into posting it themselves. Then a list of links to all of them can be posted.
Who holds the reins on that discord account?
Trinity recipe ideas look: here.
i am going to suggest we consider for induction
Soda Base by /u/staybert
1.25% FLV Citrus Soda
1% CAP Lemon Lime
0.5% WS-23 (30%)
Is it too late to ask for a Chocolate Trinity? So far I am loving MB Cookie Bite, MB Lava Cake and FLV Milk Chocolate 3,2,1 ? Possibly also a Butterscotch Trinity? So far I am loving FW Butterscotch Ripple, FW Butterscotch boosted by FW Salted Caramel also on a 3,2,1. Just thoughts......I am new to Reddit so forgive if I somehow am missing a deadline or not posting correctly. Thank you!
On The Banana it's a double not a trinity so I know y'all will find it; so far I have found a dynamic duo: 3 WF Banana Puree OR SA Banana Flambe; 2 MB Soft Banana; I trust y'all will find that Trinity with TPA Banana Nut Bread. Would that not be funny to have another 3,2,1 :)
This is an old post, but i hope you can answer. Does these trinity recipes mean that i don't need to add anything else and they'd already taste good? Or do i need oher flavorings still?
Yeah, you could mix them with other things if you want to, but the idea is that they have a full enough flavor to stand alone
Thank you! I love mango flavors and i've been looking for recipes that's completely only mango. I would be fine with adding other flavors as long as they add to the mango rather than having two tastes on my liquid. If they taste good on their own then i'd prefer that.
I can’t wait to try the strawberry. I picked up so many strawberry’s, it’s my favorite flavor to vape, I know cliche, but I do love it. I picked them all up in anticipation of making every trinity I can, don’t know what I’m looking for, ultimate deliciousness? Delicious variety? Candy? Jam? Strawberry fields? Apricot will be next, I’m in heaven... 😊😊
