Bourbon flavoring
submitted almost 6 years ago by og240

I have had a weird experience with Coop’s kiwi bourbon. I was curious about this for obvious reasons and after messing with grack (og recipe) I figured why not? So I’ve noticed a weird thing with my palate. I drink whiskey/ bourbon/ scotch almost exclusively. Well rambling aside. I get a very bread like taste from this wonderful mixture of kiwi, bourbon, and the marshmallow. This is enjoyable but, is my palate just weird or is this what I should expect from this combination?

Pallet, palette... it's palate!

It could be your palate. Have you experienced that when using the flavors in other mixes?

Also name your favorite peated Scotch and I'll forgive your multiple misspellings. ;)

My favorite scotch right now is the new johnnie walker got stuff because the girlfriend loves that show and wants the bottles. If you got some good recommendations let me know. (Im fairly new to scotch so if these aren’t the type you’re looking for please teach me!)

For heavy peated, look for Ardbeg and Laphroaig. They should be readily available at most whisky shops.

Lagavulin 16yo is a hard islay malt to beat

Edit: damn spellcheck!

Or a Jura. They're peat moderately flavoured with whisky.

Prefer something a bit oakier like glenn oban

It's just Oban :P

Really? Then those wankers at the distillery tour kept saying glenn oban this and glenn oban that. Admittedly, my bottle does just say OBAN.

Thank you! I’m sorry for being lazy.

I think you're confused, though. Kiwi Bourbon doesn't have Cheesecake and Coop's Kiwi Cheesecake doesn't have bourbon.

I miss wrote the original post going to edit it now. I had both of those recipes in my head but the bourbon one is the one I was referring to. In the cheesecakes trinity style of recipes I get a similar bread like texture from that as well.

Hmm interesting. Could be a fun tool to adding depth to a bread/yeasty profile. I’m into weird shit so why not add smoke to cornbread to create a charred note to it.

Same experience when I vaped a Nonna Cake inspired recipe when I drank beer. The vape profile took it to another direction that I wasn't keen on.

I mix juices that all pair with every alcoholic beverage I'm drinking these days. From red wines, liquor, to the microbrew varieties... I love it.
