is a 40pg/60vg blend that much smoother than a 50/50 blend?
I made my go to daily vape, and it's great. 50/50 mix... but it is a little harsh, so I made up a batch of my number 2 sauce, but I made this one 40pg/60vg as the harshness of my daily vape was a little off putting. I figured it would be a tiny bit less harsh. Now I am wondering if I forgot to put nic in this number 2 juice due to how smooth it is.

I have a NIC test kit, but apparently my bromothymol blue has gone bad and its not blue anymore. lol. not to mention that this is only 3mg/ml nic so its not super strong to begin with and will be hard to get a super accurate result.

would this relatively minor change in percentages make this vape that much smoother?
Not sure if it's related, but I have a sensitivity to PG and yes, 10% change is noticeable.
Seems like you'd get a more definitive answer by mixing another bottle at 60/40 and testing it.
Turns out to be 2 things:
I did mix the nic wrong. I break down my 100mg/ml to 50mg/ml and didn’t change that in the calculator I used. I just checked the screenshot of the recipe and I messed that up.
I also mixed my go to flavor at 60vg/40pg and it is a little different. I can tell that most of the throat hit I feel is nicotine, it’s different..
Well, you are using less PG....
yeah, true. I just didnt expect it to be THAT different. I figured I might not even notice, but its different enough to make me wonder about it.
Any reason why you are doing 50/50?
It was easy?
when i started vaping around 2012ish... 50/50 was the norm. This was the time of ego spinners and clearomizers that needed a pretty thin juice to wick properly. I think my local vape shop even mixed 60pg/40vg back then... so when i started, it was easy to just do 50/50.. e.g. calculate nic and flavors, add to a graduated cylinder, add PG to get to the half way mark, add VG to get to the total volume. yeah, sloppy, but again, I like easy. I found an ADV I liked (cap harvest berry @ 10%) and just did the whole robot thing... mixing up 1000ml batches every few months for a few years. eventually i cut down the nic to zero and quit vaping.
after a year off of vaping, some personal life stresses got me back on cigs. now I am finding so many calculators out there, it was easy to build a mix with any percentage of vg, so I figured I would teach this old dog some new tricks.

I use 70/30 3mg almost exclusively. I've done it for years. I made a few of my favorite recipes at 80/20 for whatever reason. I didn't care for the results. It noticeably affected the flavor, not in a good way. I also did some 60/40 mixes and those were just fine. So yeah, ratio differences mean something with what we do.

Why did you dilute your nicotine?
I prefer to work with something that doesn’t technically require a fume hood and full body PPG for two reasons:
I’m a little older than most here and with age I learned caution.
That and again lazy.. I don’t want to feel bad if I don’t spend the time and effort to break out the safety glasses, respirator, gloves, etc.
Btw - why do you ask?
