As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is.... GRAPE!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested!

There's just so damn many of them, it really feels like 3 distinct discussions to me.
White grape, red grape, and "purple" flavors.
Grape seems tough! I'd love a nice simple red grape juice with a healthy glug of ws23. I've tried FLV Grape, INW Grape, SC/FE Grape, TFA Grape Juice, and with other combos of grape such as TFA Grape Candy, FA White Grape, PUR Grape Soda, MB Queen Grapes. Nothing has even been remotely close to what I'm looking for. And white grape flavours? So far they've all been floral and/or perfumey.
I still haven't gotten round to mixing up Make Purple Grape Again by u/Isuamadog and u/UnappreciatedRobot, it could be the holy grail grape.
Yeah, that one is supposed to be awesome, and I actually have everything for it. Gonna have to sit down and mix it this week. Lots of really tricky little nuances and variations to real grapes
Insofar as that purple flavor you get from grape sodas and those little jug juices though, there's a ton of delicious options.
Thugger Juice by tranceinate
Co. | Flavor | %
---|---|----
INW | Cactus | 0.5
FA | Fuji Apple | 1
INW | Grape | 4
TFA | Menthol | 1
LA | Watermelon | 2
This is a really good SNV that I've come to like. Personally I don't like INW Grape that high so I'll usually drop it down to 2% - 3% and you still retain the purple. Also, I hate any kind of cooling so I'll drop that menthol everytime. Sometimes I'll put INW Raspberry Malina in it's place at around 0.5%

Purple Blush INW is a fun flavor.
Just got a sample of this yesterday. Can you recommend a starting point for a single flavor mix?
Just got some of this last week and testing now. Did 3%, 5% , and then a mix @ 7% with FW Hard Candy @2%. The 7% with candy has been tested and for sure is over flavored. Going back to the 3 and 5 today. I know that's on the high end for INW. But for testings sake figured I'd push it. Very happy with what I smell and hand test at the moment tho!
My favorite use of Grape so far has been Panther Blood.

Grape, blackberry and coolant go so well with the forest fruit's undefined berry flavor. Burned through so many bottles of this so far.
I want a white grape flavor. Any flavors that do that well?
Flavour Art white grape tastes like...I swear to god: moscato wine. I like it. You might?
I mean, i get the alcohol flavor from it for sure, but it's a rubbing alcohol flavor. I've had a bottle of peach/white grape combo steeping for like 3 weeks now and it's still just straight up peach and chemical. I got it thinking I was going to try to clone compass by Lazarus vintage, just a candied white wine... alas it's just been fail after fail and I'm sitting here pondering what possessed me to buy 2 oz of it on a whim. Sigh.
While Inw grape is awesome, before reformulations it was even better. I miss the good old days
When did they reformulate it? It wasn't on the list, IIRC.
Probably at the same time when they reformulated everything else (around 2 years ago?). Maybe they just switched their supplier, so while the compounds are the same (and thus not made the grape to go on reformulated list), the taste is not the same.
I've been vaping inawera for 8 years, and (old) grape was one of my favorite flavors. The new one, not so much. Also, the new one gunks coils faster then the old one, so something surely has changed.
Was it straight up purple before the reformulation, or did more change than potency? Because it's perfectly purple now..
It was more defined, had more wine-ish grape taste and there wasnt that background dry earthy taste.
I hope that made sense.
/u/ID10-T knows my love for CAP Sweet Currant as a currant, but has he learned my love for it as a grape?

A while ago I mixed some tpa grape soda at 5% and it was good, I even shared it with a friend. So after 4 or 5 days (can't remember) within few hours, it started tasting like mushrooms. And it definitely wasn't the fault of either my vape nor the conditions I stored the liquid in, since my friend had it turn into mushroom at the same time as I had. Anyone have a idea of why?
Yuck! No idea off the top of my head but I can try to look at the spec sheets from TFA and see if there’s an ingredient or combination of ingredients in Grape Soda that might make it taste like mushrooms after a short steep
Also, i have to say I haven't added anything else, not even sweetener.
Edit: I just remembered, the juice turned magenta when this happened. Like glowy pink/purple/magenta.
