Hello,
This question might seem odd or out of place, it's basically about usage of vape aromas for cooking.
So, I have some spare FW sweetener, as much as I understand it's sucralose.
Can I use it in cooking, baking as an alternative sweetener? Is there a health impactful difference if I were to say use this instead of splenda or other sucralose based sweetener, not meant for e-juice? (baiscally, is it safe to use this sweetener in kitchen instead of e-juice)
(I'm asking just by happenstance of being on a keto diet and avoiding sugars and carbs, not wanting to use stevia for my cheesecake recipe and waiting for my sucralose to ship )
I hope the post is not out of place. Thanks for the answers in advance!
I put some blueberry in blueberry muffins and them shits were right. Just don't over-do it
Haha yes. When I was a kid there was muffin mix - best baked blueberry muffins I ever had - and not a single blueberry in them. But seriously, flavors are great for making hard candies, cake frostings, spicing up coffee. Just please never use baking flavors (contain oils and other hazerdous additives) in you vape! Vape safe!
I've put flavoring in my coffee
I spoke to a Flavour Art rep at the vape expo in the UK. Flavour Art started off as a food flavouring company, and say that all their flavours are safe for using in food stuffs. So I can’t say that every company is the same, but they say their flavourings are good for it. I know this isn’t sweetener related, sorry about that, but that’s all I’ve got for you!
I’ve made hard candy with flavors I don’t like for vaping. I’ve used the banana to turn vanilla pudding into banana pudding.
I was just wondering that, I make glass candy with LorAnn oils for years... I bet some of these flavorings would make awesome candy—but the trick is to get the strength right.
I bought tfa French vanilla, and don’t see myself using that anytime soon in an actual juice. I’ve been adding it to my coffee grounds occasionally, almost feels like your using a French vanilla creamer whenever you add some milk.
So can I just check your procedure? Buy or grind coffee, add flavour to dry grinds, put in stovetop espresso machine/french press? I am a sucker for flavoured coffee but it's way overpriced here.
I just use your standard 12 cup coffee maker and I eyeball how much concentrate I pour over the grounds. Haven’t had an issue where I’ve used too much, then I brew it. You could probably just add it to your brewed cup if you wanted, it’s gonna give off a good scent.
Go for it. These flavorings were originally made for food and beverages. Any time you see "natural and artificial flavors" in the ingredients of something it is these flavor concentrates being used. But good luck finding any specific detaild on how much to use in food.
I used a teaspoon of CAP French Vanilla in the last cheesecake I made and it turned out awesome.
I use a bunch of "vape" flavorings for baking and drinks. That's what they're made for, we just co-opt them for making juice :)
So yeah, it's no problem. I'm not sure about FW's concentration, but it's probably a 10% sucralose solution.
ETA: Quick google says FW Sweetener is 5% sucralose, 5% ethyl maltol. Perfectly fine for cooking - sucralose = splenda, and ethyl maltol is a variant of maltitol.
I did keto a few years ago, I used ERYTHRITOL (Nectresse) for baking because it has no aftertaste. It does have some carb percentage but not enough to get you out of ketosis. The "vape flavors" we use are awesome for water, coffee and jello!
the Loranns can be found at my local british shop (im in cad) in their chocolate making section. the prices are outrageous though compared to where i get my vaping stuff from. I used their stuff for making chocolates before realising its the exact same i put in my vaping stuff! I would assume its very safe to ingest
I'm rocking some FW Banana Nut Bread in my coffee right now :)
I think Capella's Super Sweet actually has a useage amount for cooking on the bottle, if I remember right. Like 1 drop= 1 tsp sweetener or something like that.
On a side note, I've had in my head to try Flavorah's Root Beer in a cake frosting. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds fricken delicious!
Your respiratory system is wildly more sensitive than your digestive system. As many have commented the answer is yes, I use my vape flavors for all sorts of food stuff all the time. Try it in yogurt, ice cream, alcoholic drinks, curries (lol but yeah I’ve done it) etc etc
You are just who I want to talk to!! I have been reading about vape flavoring because I want to use them in my keto diet.
Sweeteners: Capella Super Sweet is 10% sucralose (Splenda); I use SucraDrops for food and drinks. It is 25% sucralose. (Might be cheaper for vaping, but being so strong might be harder to measure.)
Excited about honey, brown sugar, maple syrup, malted milk. Honey was wonderful in tea or hot milk, but too much became floral. Waiting for the others to arrive. Saw molasses listed somewhere, but can't find it now. Cookie/cake/graham cracker flavors to enhance almond flour baking. Apple flavors added to cooked chayote squash makes a believable cooked apple. Hoping to mix up some fruit juice-like drinks. OOO Flavors has corn bread, wheat bread, pretzels. Also, River Supply/Nic River has cheap MCT oil.
(Sorry guys, I'll move this to r/keto)
The cheesecake came out allright with some flavor west sweetener. Cant guarantee it didnt trigger an insuline response as i dont measure. Good ones I can see being used rly good in food would be: tfa original caramel, fa honey, fw hazelnut, tpa french vanilla fw blueberry is more artificial candy like, tfa blueberry extra is pretty good, would add to food and drinks, tpa pistachio. Aforementioned aromas have at least to me no traceable chemical aroma aftertaste
