Newbie looking for some advice and critique on first nic salt recipes for my pod device.
submitted almost 6 years ago by Pirate278

So i'm moving away from juul way to expensive and not enough options. I'm not a fan of huge box mods though so i purchased a Novo 2 which i absolutely love. I purchased some commercial juice but now want to learn how to make my own. I know the juul has higher pg ratios at 70/30 and I've seen lots of recipes calling for 60/40. The commercial juice I've purchased is all 50/50 though and from some research I've read that's best. I would love to hear what you guys think about this though. I'm about to put in my first order from river supply but would love some critique on these recipes ive found on https://e-liquid-recipes.com/ . There's not very many recipes specifically designed for pods that have tons of ratings which makes me nervous. I know lots of people increase percentages of flavors pretty high because these devices need more flavor. I have found so many complex recipes on these sites even though the advice is to keep the profile simple. I found 3 that i think i'm going to buy the flavors for and attempt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

most two - three flavor recipes do good with mtl/pod style devices. Two of the same sort of flavour - like 2 strawberries - counts as one

For the middle one (the strawberry) try reducing the strawberry ripe to 5 percent and adding 1.5 percent real flavors strawberry. It's very good like that :) Very close to one of my pod recipes.

Thanks what pg/vg ratio do you usually use?

It very much depends on the device. Some devices really can't handle thicker vg liquids. others can with no sweat. I usually use rebuildable tanks for my MTL vapes like the berserker mini 1.5 and it loves a 70/30. The caliburn i have will handle that too - as did my sourin drop for example. Others just can't handle that thick a liquid and you're better off with a 5050 or 6040.

I've heard that the novo can handle 70 30 juices just fine, but i don't own one. I wouldn't go higher. Especially in winter :)

I have some other really good pod mixes if you're into fruit - a grape and a blueberry that i really like. I've tasted some really nice bakeries too - but they're usually not my favorite profile.

Sure if you could share them with me that would be appreciated. I'm not a fan of blueberry but if you have any others. I like minty stuff and fruity/creamy stuff.

50PG 50VG is great for pod systems. Thats what I mix for my Smok Trinity Alpha.

Love the real flavors strawberry but good luck finding it now. I know diy-ejuice . com will or already has stock of the strawberry Real Flavours (they did a slight name change when they took over)

INW Shisha Strawberry will definitely be easier to source for the OP and can be used right around the same percentage or a little less than the RF SB.

Ah. I tend to order from diy-ejuice so i didn't realize there was a supply issue :)

I spoke with diy-ejuice about 4 days ago and they said the new Strawberry shipment was in that they are now making. They bought the rights to MFG Real Flavors from here on out once RF shut their doors.

I would stick with 50/50 for the Novo. I predict that you will soon outgrow that device, and move on to a variable wattage MTL device. Being able to fine-tune the wattage to your liking makes all the difference, plus it will save you money in the long run (replacement coils vs. having to replace the whole pod.)

I try and stay close to 50/50. If i try to go higher with PG or higher with VG sometimes the calc tells me something is wrong. Like if im mixing up just 10ml and using 48mg/ml nicotine (which i got in pure VG - dont be like me im dumb). I suggest getting the 100mg/ml PG nicotine salts if you're gonna be mixing for a pod/mtl. River Supply Smooth or Hit are both good.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about getting the 50/50 nicotine salts. I'm not sure how much of a hit the hit nic salt juice will have. Have you tried both the smooth and the hit kinds?

Yeah I got the smooth first and the hit this time. I’m mixing at 18mg so not seeing much difference myself. Maybe at higher mg per ml?

Oh yeah I have no idea but I'm keeping my mixes in the 30 to 45 range.
