River Supply (formerly Nicotine River) has CBD for sale. Is it safe for vaping?
submitted almost 6 years ago by OutOfBounds11Frugivore

I would love to be able to vape my CBD instead of putting it under my tongue. Can I use this stuff?

Good afternoon! First off, I hope you guys are all having a great holiday. Secondly, I know the price may worry you guys, but it's the same story as everything else we have done. Every brand that is out there selling CBD products has gotten away with charging way too much. Most companies going rate for a 1000mg tincture is somewhere in the neighborhood of $79.99 to $99.99. The truth is, CBD isn't that expensive, especially when it is diluted down in the consumable's strengths and volumes. In 2014 when I started Nicotine River, now River Supply, our goal has always been to disrupt these high inflated products. Our goal has always been to be fair and give the world a chance to adopt something new. Someone's income should never dictate their ability to try something new if it helps them. With prices where they are currently across all other brands, it just won't happen. I hope this helps a little bit and let me know if I can answer anything else.

Thank you for being awesome and not gouging people! CBD can be derived from hemp, you don't need top shelf bud so top shelf prices are asinine. I have to smh at most of the CBD stuff out there these days, just a bunch of investors trying to cash in on the latest fad. You guys and Broke Dick/Richard's Hemp are doing it right. I've seen a lot of ridiculous crap in my 20+ years of cannabis use and this has to take the cake lol.

Man, if you guys can have full spectrum cbd diluted in PG ( or any non-oil base carrier) instead of MCT , it would be game changer. A lot of us can safely use your full spectrum cbd to diy instead of just isolate.

Or the science isnt there to do so ?

Same question here.

Jam Monster has a CBD product too, in which they include a "100% all natural CBD isolate" into their VG+PG+Flavors formula.

So, leaving aside the Vitamin acetate issue: can you vape CBD oil in any e-juice equipment (claromizer/rda/rdta/rta/etc)? And how this oil doesn't harm your lungs in the meanwhile?

No one could ever answer me that, I'll appreciate if you guys can enlight me here. Thanks!

Isolate is not an oil. CBD isolate is a white powder: it is the purest form of CBD available. It mixes well with PG and a 50/50 ratio juice works well: the issue is with VG (it causes the isolate to recrystalize).

Note: you will not find a "broad spectrum" or "full spectrum" isolate. Those are a hemp oil with terpenes and cannabinoids in them. Anything "oil" contributes to lipid pneumonia (this is what Vitamin E acetate has caused and people have died from it).

Thanks! I had the concept wrong about the isolate.

So in order to vape a cbd product, you need it isolated and PG predominance in the formula, but these Jam monsters are all 70/30 VG-PG, could that bring an issue?

Probably not. Before I ventured into making diy cbd juice I read a ton of tutorials, 99% of which say that you'll run into problems mixing with anything less than about 50/50 or 60/40. But my first time I mixed it with 70/30 anyway, and it came out great, no recrystallization or anything.

The main issue they talk about is recrystallization, that since cbd isolate (the powder used to make the juice) doesn't mix well with vg, that with too much vg you might begin to see crystals form in the juice, signifying that the isolate is becoming separated again. The solution is to either shake it up a ton so it dissolves, or some people recommend heating the bottle in a warm water bath or microwave (just if you try those, do not heat it too much because you'll cook out all the CBD). Regardless, both the CBD juice I made and store bought CBD juice I've tried that were 70/30 were fine, with no recrystallization (though that might not be the case for everyone).

Edit: oh and btw, vape your CBD juice at lower wattage/higher ohm than you would normal vape juice, since again CBD vapes at a lower temperature than e-juice does. I normally vape regular juice at around 50-60w on a .2-.3 ohm coil, but for CBD I do 15-20w on a 1ohm coil. Too hot and you'll both burn away the CBD and waste it, plus it'll gunk up your coils like crazy (CBD juice tends to gunk up coils a lot more regardless of your wattage, so you don't want to make it worse).

Maybe they found a better way to mix the isolate. I'm not familiar Jam Monster for CBD juice, but it may be they manage with a reduced strength. I make my own.

I can’t offer a scientific answer, but isolate in standard ejuice form (pg/vg/flavor) shouldn’t be any more harmful than if it were nicotine instead. Again, I’m not a doctor, but neither my wife or I have seen any ill effects.

It’s the other stuff you should avoid inhaling - MCT, oils, etc. Some say PEG is another acceptable emulsifier, but I have no trouble using PG, so I stick with the basics.

I may pick some up to try sublingually, but I’d avoid vaping it due to the MCT base. I didn’t see a PG option, at least not for full spectrum. I make my own using isolate in PG, and it’s incredibly easy.

One thing I noticed though, is their numbers seem a little too good to be true. For instance, a 30ml of full spectrum with 3000mg for $35? That’s easily over $100 from just about any other reputable vendor...

edit: they offer the isolate in PG base, which again seems like a high concentration for the price. I buy isolate by the gram for about the same price ($20-25), then emulsified into 30ml of pg/vg works out to be about 33mg/ml. I dunno, seems iffy.

Looking at the strength and price, it looks like it's about 1/8th the price of the NuLeaf that I buy.

I have not tried NIC rivers, I do use there MCT but for sublingual oil, If I vape it I get CBD isolate, it is a powder and can easily be added to e-juice. I would suggest finding a local company for your CBD that way you can meet with the people, and find out how they make the product and if they recommend it for vaping. If you have any issues or problems I would be happy to help :) Happy vaping

I used CBD in a subohm for some time. I survived. Taste was horrible so I moved on to edibles but vaping it didn't kill me.

This was early into the release of CBD before everyone had it. Also tried cartridges. Tasted horrible as well.

Why not MCT?

MCT has not been proven to be safe to vape, and it likely is not

Vaping in general though is still pretty new. So can't the same be said for pg, vg or the flavorings?

Your best bet is emailing their customer service and making sure. It will prolly take a while for them to respond because of black friday. I placed an order Friday mid afternoon and 3 days later I haven't even got a notice that my order is complete and ready to ship.

Some of the best medical grade CBD out in the market, at least the best I've bought so far.
