The thread that's Still Going™! This is an AMA thread with a twist – the 'victim' gets to name who is next up in the rotation.
There are some rules:
- Try picking someone who hasn't gone yet
- It has to be someone who actively posts here
- No dead people (i.e. notcharlesmanson isn't eligible)
- Preferably a name that people recognize, 'regular poster' means someone who is a) alive and b) has posted in the last three months
- Complete the FAQ before posting
If you do the hot seat, you can add up to three names to the list of people who are potential victims.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How'd you get your handle?
Well, it's my full name. So...
How long have you been mixing for?
Shit, I think something like 4 years now? I guess ~seriously~, I would say only a total of 2 years. I only went full send for about that time. Now I just don't care all that much and mix what I like, stay silent while I test new ideas, and only drop shit that becomes a new standby for me.
Current flavor or profile obsession?
Honestly, just cold fruit recipes or drink recipes. I used to fuck with bakeries HEAVY, but now, for some reason, anything that has custard, ice cream, or really anything that makes bakeries enjoyable, seems to give me mad nausea. It sucks, because I REALLY miss using CAP Marshmallow and CAP Vanilla Custard.
Most/Least disappointing flavors that was/not as expected?
I don't really know. Nothing has really fucked my world up all that much. I think a better question would just be what are my favorite flavors, in which case I would answer:
- VT Fizzy Sherbet
- FLV Pink Guava
- FLV Yakima Hops
- FA Watermelon
- FA Strawberry
- INW Two Apples
- FLV Sour Apple
- FW Beetle Juice
There are others, but off the top of my head, these came to mind first. So, do with that what you want. I don't care.
Mixing Milestone?
It's pretty tight that, to this day, people still talk about Drunken Pears. I'm also really proud of IPA Smoke, honestly. It's not like that recipe is anything groundbreaking, but it's something I spent months trying to figure out, and I still go back to it every so often, so that's cool.
Recipes you admire/love?
I am one of the worst offenders of wanting other people to mix my shit and provide feedback, without actually mixing other peoples' shit up. However, there are a few recipes that either inspired something I did, gave me some insight into something I was unsure of, or just plain slapped. So here's that list of shit I can remember:
Guava Lime Candy by notcharlesmanson
Listen, I'm bad at this. But I like these.
White whale?
I've accomplished most everything I've set out to, honestly ( this is not a flex, I just have very low standards, if I have an idea and it's vapeable for more than 30mls, I'm happy ), but I really wish I could have these things in vape form ( yes, I know some of these have been done, but they just didn't hit how I want in some way ) :
- A proper Old Fashioned
- Sour Patch Watermelon
- American Spirit Blacks
- A recipe that changes depending on how you vape it ( Amorphous came close, but it still isn't how I want it ).
How would you describe your mixing style?
Uhh, I really don't know. I don't know why any of y'all ask me for advice or to do any of these things because I feel like I'm one of the worst mixers in terms of imparting knowledge. I just throw shit around until it works how I want it, then it's done. I'm the Jackson Pollock of vaping.
Advice for new mixers?
The "influencer" side of me wants to say like, "do your research, keep trying, don't get discouraged" etc. But honestly, just mix some shit that you like, and don't worry about anything else. Feedback from other mixers is good, but it's still just a subjective thing. Who gives a shit, at the end of the day, if you are enjoying what you vape, then that's all that matters. Your tastes will evolve as you improve, and the only way you'll improve is to keep doing it. Branch out. Pick up a couple of random 15mls of flavors in every order. Find things that seem interesting to you. And use this sub as a beacon of information. So just, as I've said since the days of Beginner Blending, "keep mixing, keep fucking up, and stay fucking evil." I implore you though, stop fucking shitposting because you're lazy. Like, listen, I'm a lazy fucking cuck, but stop being that asshole that just spams shit to the sub because you don't want to do the work. We've all done the work to put the information out there, so just fucking spend the few seconds it takes to search what you want to know in the search bar, and THEN, if you still can't find an answer, make your post. It's really not that fucking difficult.
If you could only use three flavor brands, which three would you pick?
Probably FLV, FA, and TPA.
I think every person I have asked this to has said FLV :)
You may be one of the only people who did not also say VT though!
What is your most used flavor?
FA Strawberry, VT Fizzy Sherbet, and FLV Sour Apple.
What's your favorite music to listen to?
Probably hardcore or progressive metal. Lately, my favorite bands are Counterparts, Power Trip, Citizen, Venom Prison, The Contortionist, Varials, and The Weeknd.
Dude, I never expected to see anything like this here. Counterparts has been my favorite band since Prophets in 2010. They came to my area with Hundredth and it was a literal life-changing experience. As far as Power Trip and Citizen go, I just gotta say that you and I vibe my dude.
If you’re feeling a little adventurous and interested in some heavier punk/hardcore, check out a band called Gulch. Probably in my top 3 of best bands I’ve heard in the last five years.
I feel like we need to have a chat somewhere else than just here. I found a new music friend. But I'll definitely check out Gulch, never heard of them. Depending on how heavy you go with hardcore/grindcore/extreme metal, I'm also a massive fan of bands like Nails, Full of Hell, Insect Warfare (best grindcore imo), etc.
Which flavors did you like enough to get bigger bottles of (>1oz (30ml))
Please can you explain how you choose the names for your recipes?
Eh, there isn't much to it. I just let a semi coherent stream of consciousness pour onto my keyboard.
I guess if you have specific recipes in mind, I could get more context to them. Sometimes it's just something I thought sounded cool, other times it's a loose play on the profile, other times it's just something random.
It seems like most of your contemporaries have moved on or disappeared... What kind of strange tenacity keeps you coming back here after all these years?
I dunno man, I like most of the people here. I don't care too much about posting anymore, but if I find a thread that I can either impart some of my knowledge on, or just find interesting, or just want to be an asshole to some shitposter, then I'll drop a comment or something. But yeah, I guess it's mainly because I've been here since I can remember, so I just haven't had a reason to leave.
If you could go anywhere in the solar system for a day, where would it be?
No one mentioned your art, I'm partial to your style. I think I've mostly seen your watercolors, some even on all the flavors. What's your favorite medium? What are some of your current projects? Where do you like to see art?
Have you thought about getting on the twatter and patreon. I have a feeling you would be really popular with the NBies and Furrys.
Thank you, I appreciate that a lot. As for medium, yeah watercolor is my preferred medium to work with. I also have been experimenting with acrylic lately, trying to emulate the style of oil painting with it. Uhh, current projects? None. I finished and sent out a commission a couple weeks back, but that's all I really had this whole year. I don't really even make art much anymore, no real reason, just been busy with work and since my art doesn't make me any money, I just kinda don't push myself to make it as often.
I was on Twitter for a while, it didn't work much. My art never really took off like I had hoped. But hey, some people dig it, so that's rad. Patreon would be cool, but again, I have no idea how to actually make it work for me. So I tend to just stick with Twitch and occasionally streaming myself painting something new.
Uhh, if furries like my art, that's cool. But I will never make art FOR furries.
> I don't really even make art much anymore
Even though I'm not an otherkin that makes me a sad panda. Maybe in 2020 you can get your vision back. I'm almost anti-marketing and anti-hype, and in no uncertain terms am I suggesting you sell-out. I loathe twatter; its a giant time suck occupied by narcissist, the mentally unstable, and soulless automotons. I mention that den of broken reflections because I've seen several people less skilled with no vision get signal boosted so their work is seen (if that is a motivating factor for you).
Its a bit like a person granted a gift of a beautiful voice by God or God's Nature and refusing to sing because it doesn't earn them their 30 pieces of silver or the modern equivalent. A singer sings even if no-one is present, because exercising that gift brings them joy.
> "keep mixing, keep fucking up, and stay fucking evil."
? but stop making art, don't push yourself, and be a lazy fucking cuck? I'm not judging- I'm pointing out the Incongruence- mixing doesn't make you any money either does it?
Since its the hot seat: if you open certain portals, but don't walk through the door you run the risk of getting lost in the Abyss
Okay, so, there's a lot more to unpack here than I anticipated dealing with. So let me get into it.
First off, I have actually used Twitter for a while because I find a lot of it to be funny, I just have sort of detached from all social media except for Instagram, so I do still use Instagram as a way of boosting my shit, promoting it, etc. I will probably get back on Twitter at some point, but I've never really used it as a means to promote myself. I just liked posting dumb shit I thought up.
I wouldn't say that I've "stopped" making art, I just don't as often as I used to when I was only working in a kitchen and had the added motivation to make art in hopes that someone would buy it so I could pay my bills. At this point, I don't really feel the NEED to push myself in my art because, most of the time, if I don't just come up with an idea for a piece organically, I tend to hate the piece. I have started probably 5 pieces over the last few months, just never got around to finishing them. And with where I'm at in my life, I more or less just enjoy painting or drawing when the mood strikes. I'm not making art for anyone but myself, so I don't really care if it takes me months to do something that used to take me days.
Third, and probably most importantly, I've recently starting working a full time job in software engineering. This is also completely new for me, far removed from the mind numbing work of kitchens, retail, etc that used to almost require my brain to create art in order to stay stimulated throughout the days. Now, I'm usually pretty mentally exhausted by the end of the day, and the whole statement that "if you love art so much, it shouldn't feel like work," is utter bullshit.
Finally, no, mixing doesn't make me any money anymore, which is why that, too, has fallen off my radar of things I spend excessive time doing. I would rather spend my time continuing and improving my skills that currently provide me with money, as "capitalistic" or stupid as that sounds. I've been broke my whole life, now I'm not, and I want to keep doing things that continue to improve my finances. I still love to paint, just as I still love to mix, I just don't care as much to push it out to the world like I used to.
No shade intended, so hopefully this explains things a bit more.
