Color change...is it oxidation?
submitted almost 6 years ago by tscc85

New mixer here, my juice seems to have a slight pink hue? I’m assuming this is the oxidizing of the nicotine? I mixed up a fresh batch of watermalone on Saturday morning. VG/PG + nice select and some watermalone. Everything was clear. Any insight would be great. Thank you!

This is normal/good. Steeping does get the colour changing (depending on the flavour), yes it is oxidation but it's not the bad kind that you might have read about where you don't want your nicotine oxidised. Ideally the flavour oxidises and the nicotine doesn't, it doesn't work exactly that way but it's close enough.

Each juice has a sweet spot where it has steeped to the best flavour, tends to be either a few days in if it's a fruity flavour or 2-3 weeks for others. There are exceptions to this but you will need test your recipes to find out when they're at their best. Some recipes can be judged by colour

Color comes with the flavor concentrates. Juice turns color but doesn't always indicate nicotine oxidation. Bad oxidized nicotine is easy to detect. If your juice is good you can ignore the color

It's fine. Over time nicotine oxidises and turns eliquid darker. Individual concentrates also have many different colours. Some turn slightly red, some pink, some yellow etc etc etc.

Thanks for the quick reply. My assumptions were correct.

It's fine - it's normal for water malone.
