The thread that's Still Going™! This is an AMA thread with a twist – the 'victim' gets to name who is next up in the rotation.
There are some rules:
- Try picking someone who hasn't gone yet
- It has to be someone who actively posts here
- No dead people (i.e. notcharlesmanson isn't eligible)
- Preferably a name that people recognize, 'regular poster' means someone who is a) alive and b) has posted in the last three months
- Complete the FAQ before posting
If you do the hot seat, you can add up to three names to the list of people who are potential victims.
Possible: /u/AlfredPudding, /u/odiedoodah, /u/Apexified, /u/enyawreklaw, /u/folkart2000, /u/shyndo,
Already Done: /u/juthinc, /u/isuamadog, /u/humanpuck, /u/eyemakepizza, /u/ID10-T, /u/vApe_Escape, /u/mlNikon, /u/EdibleMalfunction, /u/Foment_Life, /u/Kittybit8, /u/Vishousness, /u/staybert, u/TeslaDelMar/, u/UnappreciatedRobot
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How'd you get your handle?
Back in the day, I was looking for a handle for Rocketmail (yes I'm old) and after finding out all the cool names were taken, I turned to my favorite pen & paper RPG for inspiration. It went exactly like this.
How long have you been mixing for?
I've started mixing my own juice about a month after I started vaping in 2015, after finding out how much cheaper it is compared to commercial juice. I've "seriously" taken up mixing last year, when I started non-profit mixing for a group of friends.
Current flavor or profile obsession?
Custards, caramels and nuts are my oasis. The DAAPer, the better.
Most/Least disappointing flavors that was/not as expected?
I get my flavors based on specific recipes so I've pretty much managed to steer away from the disappointing ones. Some flavors that were not as expected but still great, are:
FLV Milk & Honey FLV Beer Nuts VT Devon Cream
Mixing Milestone?
I have yet to mix anything worth mentioning, so I'm going to say my biggest milestone was managing to go from practically zero to 300+ flavors in 6 months and managing to organize them in a way that allows me find the flavor I need in less than a minute. Yay...
Recipes you admire/love?
I have mixed over 60 recipes since I started my mixing group. Some of my favorites were:
- Buttermilk Pie by Silky
- Watered Melons by eyemakepizza
- There Can Be Only One Hetch created on the DIY_ejuice Discord server
- If You Like Piña Coladas by ID10-T
- Sick AF by matthewkocanda
There are countless more I want to try. There are currently more than 90 recipes on my 2do list.
White whale?
A decent chestnut flavored juice. Please come up with one. I'll love you forever.
How would you describe your mixing style?
I pick 10 recipes each month. I mix about 250-300ml of each one. I steep them for 15-20 days, bottle them in 25ml bottles and send 10x25ml shortfills to the people in my group.
Advice for new mixers?
My advice for new mixers is this
Can you go into some detail about how you organize your flavors? I am interested!
I don't have space for racks so I need to use drawers. Finding a flavor in a sea of black caps you can only view from above got old *very* fast.
I used small polka dot stickers to number my flavor bottles and added a "Location" entry in the desktop mixing app I use (great app, I strongly recommend it).
I can refer to the location code (Drawer No, Sticker Color and Flavor No.) and quickly find the bottle.
My drawers look something like this.
Are you secretly a businessman from Hong Kong?
What are you putting on my Grecian itinerary?
Foooood. Unless you care much about ancient ruins 🙃
Also show you how we "go for coffee".
If you could only have buy from 3 flavor companies (TFA, CAP, INW, FLV, RF, etc.) which 3 would you choose?
What is the most disappointing recipe you've tried?
I have to say Cracker Jack.
Edit: omg almost forgot Grack Juice.
What do you think of the politics of vaping in the US and the world?
Money driven, knee jerk reactions. Personally I think they are at least half a decade too late. Vaping has proliferated enough by now and it's not going away that easily.
Having said that, I really hate being persecuted for not wanting to die.
s/die/give my life savings to BigPharma to keep me from dying until the money runs out. (The actual reason for the persecution.)

Have you ever made any modifications to a recipe that were either successful or not?
Vaping comes with a fair amount of hype, is there a flavor (or flavors) that you feel didnt deserve the hype it got?
How do you decide what recipes you want to mix for your group?
I keep my eyes peeled in the discord server for suggested recipes and keep a running list of them. Every month I go over my list and try to pick a balanced selection to satisfy a wide variety of tastes.
I usually end up with something like 2-3 dessert/bakeries, 2-3 fruit, 2 tobacco, 2 "other".
I also try to include one in each batch that is somewhat out of the box. Examples include I Kheer U by humanpuck, 007 Cola by AlfredPudding, GTKK 2019 by ID10-T and A Good Book by LonesomeRhodesTN.
Did they like the GTKK? It's the only thing I've put out all year that I'm truly very proud of so just say yes so I won't be crushed.
I loved it. I gave up on trying to get feedback from the other people.
My all time Dave favorite though is still If You Like Piña Coladas.
What's your favorite hardware setup (mod+atty) for flavor? What about your daily driver (if different)
Are there any profiles you actively avoid?
I dislike everything tobacco, sour/lemons do not go well with me and berries are meh at best. I also keep far away from menthol/mint and all kinds of cooling.
Maybe you like this one. It's still WIP, but vapeable. Any feedback appreciated
Thank you. I've never actually seen FA Chestnut for sale but I might try it if I decide to order from FA directly at some point.
