Recipes that surprised you
submitted almost 6 years ago by Apocrisy

Hello everyone, I'm running out of mixin ideas over here and so I'm wondering what are some of the recipes that surprised you?

For me the top 3 unexpectedly good recipes all require just a few ingredients (yours dont need to):

Ella's Shortbread Biscuit - Actually tastes like a shortbread cookie if you ever had one

The Kennedy (Clone) - I've never tried The Kennedy e-juice but this comes out as a warm caramel cookie with hints of pistachio

Queen's Cookie Jar - Never thought FA Pear would pair with a cookie so well

I tried browsing ATF and ELR for some new ideas but most top rated recipes are at least 2 years old and it seems like nothing new is getting any traction. I'm looking for some non-standard recipe to try out, not the usual strawberry milk(and ice cream), blueberry cheesecake, some cereal that doesn't taste like cereal..

  • PUR Raspberry 8%
  • INW Raspberry 1%
  • WS-23 1%
  • CAP Super Sweet 0.25%

= a cold glass of Cottee's Raspberry cordial.

Is this really sugary?

by MasterBeernutsalmost 6 years agoMixologist

It's not overly sweet. The CAP Super Sweet doesn't have to be included, but it is a cordial recipe, and cordial is pretty much 100% sugar. What this recipe is, is a red raspberry drink, with no florals to speak of.

I see your name a lot on these threads, you seem to really know your stuff. Any suggestions for a really simple raspberry recipe that is not overly sugary? I have TFA sweet raspberry, so perhaps another flavor to enhance that? TIA

Is the cooling optional?

Prickly Victory may not be for everyone but this one surprised me big time. Especially since it was on my first time order list

I finally ordered guava & had this as my 'for sure' recipe in case of disaster :p

I definitely like it. Although my palate notices sucralose a mile away, I still find it has a home in my juice rotation

Even after a steep I'm finding it harsh :(

That sucks. Sure it's not your nic?

You could probably take the percentages down a tad. ATF averages use CAP Sweet Guava around average of 3.567% and INW Cactus around average of 0.836%.

It was my first fix. I really like it. I was suprised by what cactus does for it

Jack My Strap-On. So simple, yet so very very delicious. Picked up Jackfruit just for this recipe. I regret nothing.

Also, hash's Prickly Pear recipe is legendary at this point. Only two ingredients, but so fucking good. There's more, but I'll have to update later.

Edit: Victory. It's Prickly Victory.

>Prickly Pear

Did you mean prickly victory? I didnt know there was a pear version. I made a prickly red victory with TPA Strawberry Ripe + INW Cactus in the same ratios and loved it.

Oh, yes, right. I always call it the wrong thing. I tried making a version with FA Pear in I, but I just sort of forgot about it until just now. You can add all kinda stuff to Prickly Victory. That shit is bomb.

Placid clone. That honeysuckle lime combo was not what I expected, but is delicious!

Try this one https://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/648716/Placid%2099.9%25%20ECR. Not my recipe but the creator deleted their original post. I make 700ml of this at a time and vape it constantly.

by St1llFrankalmost 6 years agoThis flavor... This is not my kind of flavor

For their weirdness-

Grack Juice

Fiestas & Fiascos

.

Maybe weirdness isn't the right word. But they're unlike anything I've ever tasted, in a good way. To be completely honest, I was confused tasting both the first time. I didn't necessarily like them at first. But the more I vaped them the more I liked them. If you want something out of the ordinary, try those two. Blue Eyes White Dragon is another. I really liked the flavor but it was a bit dry for me.

Add GIGI to this list - a definite improvement on the weirdness of Grack. I couldn't handle the full Blue Eyes White Dragon as it was too cold and had a funky chemical off-taste to me, but once I dropped the coolant percentage by half the weird dryness went away and it was much more in line with my tastes. Even better after a steep (I forgot about a bottle for ~ 6 weeks and when I sampled it after that time it was wonderful with none of the chemical note. I'm going to bump the coolant % back up on a batch and tuck it away to see if the steep alone fixes it)

Two really different recipes that come to my mind are „Clouds of Buddha“ and „Dragon in the Pines“, but they require more than 4 flavors. Imho, if you look carefully, quite a few recipes have been created recently that do not have mainstream profiles.

yeah but how do I know which is good, and are we talking ELR or ATF? also people give themselves a 5 star, and there's even cases of "snowy fuji apple" which has a lot of 5 stars from his turk countrymates (no hate on any nationality) but the flavor is just not good..

This thread is literally about what surprised you not what necessarily surprised others

1 points

by Apocrisyalmost 6 years ago

you are correct sorry, my concern is expanding a budget to get something that is not tasty at all, I was expecting more from some of the best rated recipes and less from recipes that still received good ratings but were lower in amount of people that voted for it but it turned out those not so known were pretty astonishing, hence the thread.

Ella's Shortbread is my jam. It's honestly one of my favorite due to the realism that mix gets.

Coop's kiwi bourbon is, to me, perfect. Three ingredients... kiwi, bourbon and toasted marshmallow. Takes a day to settle and from then on out each successive day is a different vape. The marshmallow and bourbon do some weird delicious magic. It's the one recipe I always fall back on when I need something quick and delicious and am being indecisive.

When I get stuck, I use the following web site to randomly make a recipe. Try it out. https://www.crazyeliquidmachine.com

Awesome source for inspiration, thank you! The suggested percentages are far from being correct but it is enough for getting new ideas.

Yup Ellas is great...I lean towards older recipes as smoking jacked up my taste buds ..some of the older recipes are good....But Folkarts rendition of that Reserve one is damn good..Can't remember the name tho..lol

Don’t know if this counts but I liked mustard milk a lot so I tried just swapping tfa strawberry with tfa pineapple juicy and kept the %’s. If tfa vbic doesn’t work for you CAP vbic is a 1:1 replacement. It turned out very nice. To me it tastes like a Pineapple Dole Whip. SnV
