As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is.... Old World-Brand Custards (FA, JF, INW, etc)!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested! Well, "custard" was requested, but it's such a broad category with so many flavors in it that I decided to break it up into a three-week extravaganza, divided by the company's countries of origin. North American custards was last week and next week be custard flavors from China and Australia.
If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).
Past FOTW posts can be found here
The NOTED podcasts, which are basically video FOTWs, are listed on this sheet, maintained by /u/apexified

INW Custard is my favorite of the three custards I have tried (CAP Vanilla Custard, TFA Vanilla Custard, and INW Custard; I don't count VT Banana Custard). It is the only custard I have tried that tastes very good off the shake, and it only gets better with time.
Two of my favorite recipes using INW Custard:
1-2-3 Banana Custard Shameless self promotion
Self-promotion is very much encouraged by FOTW.
That recipe needs a 1-2-3 in the title so people looking for 1-2-3's will get it in their search results.
I might be warped in some way but for me cap v1 and tfa v. Custard are super harsh. I was thinking of getting INW to see if its all custards or just some, but a bit afraid of yet another disapointment.
Is that even after letting them strep for a bit?

FA Premium Custard has easily taken the top spot as custard king imo. It's buttery - maybe a bit too buttery - but isn't quite oily (like what I get from CAP VC V1) . There's a light egg, with soft velvety mouthfeel, and packs a nice bright vanilla. If you like custard, it's worth what ever you have to do to get some. It's not perfect though, and does require somewhat of a steep.
Do you have a favorite recipe that really shows off what custard premium can do?
Absolutely can vouch for this, FA Custard Premium is 10/10 amazing. (and a lot different to FA Custard)

Holiday Pie by Gatchatay
All i really vape is custards / bakery and this recipe for me, was the recipe of the year so far, and I mix weekly.

yeah this is a great FA Prem Cust recipe. Also, just a simple
FA Premium Custard 5%
FA Marshmallow 1%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 2%
EM 0.5%
1 week steep. And you're off to the races. I've still not mastered that "grants" style flavor without needing like a month steep. But FA Prem Cust is definitely the way to go over CAPVCV1 in that respect.
> It's buttery - maybe a bit too buttery
Spot on. When I first tasted it I said holy shit that's buttery. I wasn't sure if anyone else shared my perception. It's good but that buttery-ness stood out a bunch for me. I'm not too big on custards so I'm far from an expert on the subject.
Cap V1 pushed my richness tolerability scale a little too much for me. It's almost sickeningly rich.
Inawera Custard was a bit more tolerable.. TFAs was good too but way different. FW was nutneg city. PUR was bland.
It's funny because I vaped a shit load of VCV1, and it wasn't until maybe last year when I started to notice it was nauseating. It seems like that DAAP is just too oily for me. That said, if mixed right with a long enough steep, it's still amazing.
Personally, I'm a custard/pie/bakery/dessert/cream vaper.I touch fruits here n there when the summer is hot, however after only a few hours of fruit, im dying to get back into creams and custards.IMO , My top 3 :
CAP VC v1
Thick, Eggy, Oily, Custard. The Original and best. Shaking and Steeping for at least a week is needed no matter what anyone says. CAP VC V2 can GTFO. Enjoy your DAAP.
Fav Recipe with CAP VC V1 : Kreeds Kustard Original
FA Custard PREMIUM
FA CP is new'ish... And seems kinda hard for Americans to get.. In Australia its super easy to find, and in the UK i believe Chefs has it. Its a really REALLY good custard, Not as thick and eggy and oily as CAP but has sweetness and more of a pudding / custard flavour. Super versatile and worth hunting down and purchasing, a week steep would do this one justice.
Fav Recipe with FA CP : Holiday Pie
INW Custard
INW Custard, this is the go-to if you dont have time to steep but also want a nice eggy CAP V1 style custard flavour. Great for use with bakery like graham crackers / crusts . I've been using INW and FA CP (above) in combination since finding the Holiday Pie recipe. But throwing in some Strawberry or Banana for a change up. Def worth the buy when you can find it !
Fav Recipe with INW Custard: WTF? Another Vanilla Custard?
cheers !
Just made a Eclipse clone based upon this ATF recipe. The precentages looked really high, so I halved them. The star of the show is CAP Vanilla Custard. Except in my case I have/used V2. And used the DX version of the marshmallow. Am really very pleased with the results. Granted it's mixed with a tobacco, so may not work as well (or at all) with bakeries and fruits like V1 (version one).
DISCLAIMER: Never tried Space Jam's Eclipse, so can not attest to how accurate of a clone it is.
