Dont really know how to do this
Safety first. Ppe like gloves, goggles, whatever you deem necessary. A box of gloves is like $6 on amazon. Get some blunt luerlock needles and syringes, $10. Nic can poison you. It's just not worth half assing. Prob get downvoted to hell because people work just fine without ppe, but it's such a glaring risk and an event is so easily prevented
don't buy nic stronger than 10%, problem solved
I used to do this but easier than this set up is to protect yourself to the max ONCE while transfersing to spill proof dropper bottles and only having like 10ml in each one.
First, you can store the rest in the freezer which is good for the nicotine
Second, 10ml plastic dropper bottles, even if you drop them, are super unlikely to even splash you with a couple of drops of nicotine. So you’re basically safe as houses
Your faith in humanity is restored with 14 upvotes...I have gloves and protective glasses which will do just fine and I cleaned out a 60 ml glass bottle or a 8 oz condiment bottle that I bought for pg and vg...which would be better for the nicotine?...I thought I would dilute the nicotine to 50mg/ml to make it safer to work with but is that a bad idea?
Why are you buying 250mg/ml or stronger?
Just being cautious and not spilling massive amounts on yourself is sufficient with normal concentrations. If you use 1000mg/ml, then yeah, if you don't have a fully equipped lab (especially a fume hood) and preferably a respirator, then I expect you're not gonna have a good time. But properly diluted, just don't leave it in contact with your skin for too long.
Easiest way is to split it into smaller glass eyedropper bottles and the freeze what you're not using.
Get their twist open nozzle. WEBSITE REDACTED They used to include them, but mine didn’t come with one last time either.
edit: removed direct link. Go to Liquid Barn . com and search twist open close cap.
Just get a syringe you don't wanna mess around with nicotine that concentrated spill too much on your hands and you'll be puking
I actually found the syringe hard to use and ended up throwing it away. Much better to use a funnel to decant into smaller, more manageable and safer bottles and freeze the rest. Only spill I ever had of nicotine was while using big bottle/syringe method
The solution is to buy a set of blunt tipped syrenges. I like to go larger than what I need, because it makes it easier to pull the liquid up through a larger needle.
They're really cheap on amazon, and probably cheaper elsewhere, so there's no real excuse not to have them, and it makes things much simpler.
pippettes work too, I like the throwaways :D
I would suggest an eye dropper, at least if I understand what you are asking. Your trying to get your nicotine from the storage bottle into a mix? Just get a clean eye dropper and use it. if you dont have something to measure it with you can approximate by 20 drops=1ML
Are you using scales to measure your mix as you put it together?
I will be yes
Do yourself a favor and research this and get yourself the right equipment before you get yourself hurt. Diy liquids is very easy and safe if you know what your doing. My advice is to get a scale and refillable seasoning containers to tramsfer your nic vg and pg into. Weigh your ingredients in. Lot less chance of screw ups.
Go to the pharmacy and get a few 1ml or 10ml syringes, w/o needle of course. Also get a 30ml plastic medicine cup. Also repurposing things, when you start mass mixing, helps a lot. I mix 1,400mls and 1gal jugs of juice at a time. I have these big former sugar containers and former milk jugs I use.
FFS. Cop on, a small bit. What age are you?
I poured it right into the cylinder I was mixing in, as it had measurement readings on the side. Made things super easy.
You're going to want to accurately measure how much nicotine solution you're putting into your mix, whether that's taking from one container to another container via eyedropper/pipette, or not. Syringes, or pouring straight into a beaker with measurements, is the fastest and most accurate way to go about it IMHO.
Scales!!!! You MUST weigh nicotine or know exactly how much you are dealing with in what concentration. It is a poison and must be treated with care and respect. Reading lines from measuring beakers will only go so accurate and number of drops doesn't give you an accurate amount either. I personally use glass droppers and will always go to within 0.02g of nicotine on my scales.
You do not need scales.
Once a calculator has been used and tells you how much nicotine mix to use (which IS an important step as nicotine mixes comes in different strengths and PG/VG-mix-ratios), a graduated cylinder is perfectly fine to use as a measurement for mixing.
Been mixing my own liquid for 3 years now.
Actually this is untrue.
Nic base is viscous and will stick to the inside walls of a gc. You have no way of knowong how much of the amount you measured actually made it into a mix. This is why measuring the nic by weight, directly in the bottle it's being mixed in, is both the most accurate and convenient.
I pour right into the beaker I'm mixing in, and the beaker goes right on a scale. It's easier for me to read the lines on the side of the beaker, then confirm the weight, rather than pour the giant jug over the scale. Been doing this for 7 years, and it rarely doesn't match up. I agree weight is best; each process to their own.
Beaker? Ouch.
The lines on those are notoriously bad. We used to measure a quantity of milliq water in a GC, pour that into a beaker, ans mark the line from that. It always was different from the marking on the beaker.
But anyhow, I NEVER pour from my gallon jug into a bottle on my scale. I jave other bottles that are easy to refill and easier to get a controlled stream from to drip into my bottles I mix in. Great part os, since I'm refilling those bottles, I don't need to wash them. Which you have to wah your GC, your beaker, etc. But hey, if you like being a cleaning lady, go right ahead. Just hopefully you do nicotine differently, so you don't expose it to extra oxygen.
