TPA/TFA Watermelon chemical taste?!

So i LOVE germainic from BOMB juice, which basically is watermelon with strawberry. Its one of my top 5 juices. I saw this recipe on 99juice

Which is basically 10% strawberry ripe + 10% watermelon (both TPA/TFA).

Mixed it up, hoping it would taste similiar to germainic and since it was shake and vape according to the recipe i started vaping emediatly...

JEZUS, what a horrible taste. Its like im vaping car oil. So i then tasted a drop of pure watermelon aroma of TPA and found my culprit. It tastes exactly that horrible chemical i was vaping just a moment ago!

Yet overal the sentiment seems very positive about this flavor! Some say it needs steeping before the chem flavor goes away. I truly hope so but in my experience, if it doesnt taste good as a shake n vape it usually doesnt taste good a few days later. I also dont think germainic uses this flavor, as i buy the aroma and pour my base + nic in it and its emediatly tasteful (and it doesnt change it taste after a week or so).

Is there any hope? Are there better watermelon flavors out there too? What is the current opinion about this aroma?

Hope to hear some good news caus i did stack up on it :/

If you want more watermelon options:

I'd start by checking out some flavor reviews for different watermelons and also the watermelon Flavor of the Week (there have been 3 now)

Then you can take a short list of watermelons and look at how they're used in different recipes on ELR & ATF (or 99juices, if you insist) you'll probably notice that most people aren't using them as high as the recipe you're looking at.

It's only links to sites that sell anything with nicotine that would be an issue.

I don't see TFA Watermelon being used often.

FLV Watermelon, CAP Double Watermelon, FA Red Summer, and RF SC Watermelon are all better watermelons. In addition, you can combine different flavors to get a more well-rounded Watermelon. See Water Malone or, for something different yet wonderful, Watered Melons.

Also, don't look at recipes from that site. It's clear they are mediocre, and those percentages are too high. Borderline crazy, actually.

I did not know that to be honest about the site. I know about Water Malone, only some aromas are hard to get here in Europe, so i never got around making it. I know they are premade sold in UK, so i might buy it from there. But thanks for the reply dude.

You shouldn't have any problems ordering in Europe. The exception would be if your country has regulations against vaping.

The problem is there isn't a single store that has all flavors in my country. So I need to either buy from several stores or import from UK.

If I was you I would find the highest rated watermelon recipe that fits your profile make it, test it, and repeat until you find something you really enjoy. Then you can take that and tweak and perfect until it's your own perfect recipe. Then you can take whatever watermelon base you end up with and create create create!

Yea I learned that TFA watermelon and watermelon candy are horrible with that chemical taste and steeping didn't help for me either...letting it breathe for a little did take away some of the chemical taste but it still didn't taste good...I ended up dumping the juice I tried making

I actually don’t mind TFA watermelon but i also dont use it at high percentages. Id say 5% or less and it works well in my mixes.

Same here. I thought it was a good candy-ish watermelon flavor. I used 4% I think. OP used way too much. From the looks of it, I'd guess thats a 2015 or so recipe.

Yes! My TFA Watermelon smells almost like rubbing alcohol. I used it once or twice and it was fine, then went to smell it a few weeks later before doing a watermelon lemonade mix, and it was like whoa... What?

I almost bought the TFA watermelon, but decided on CAP double watermelon which is so good, and I find myself using it more than other flavors.

Try cutting the watermelon flavor in half. That's what I do when something tastes like perfume/"chemicals". I don't think I've used tfa watermelon, it could just be bad. 20% flavoring seems like a lot. I don't think anything I make is above 15%, but some flavors are weaker than others

Watermelon (TFA) 6.0%
Honeydew (TFA) 3.0%
Kiwi (TFA) 2.0%
Marshmallow (Cap) 2.0%
PG 27.0%
VG 60.0%

I get that chemical taste from PG, so the Marshmallow is only used to buffer the PG. Otherwise, this is my summer shake 'n vape watermelon juice. Think I got the idea from DIY Eliquid Recipes (Youtube channel).
