As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is.... New World-Brand Custards (TFA, CAP, FLV, WF, etc)!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested! Well, "custard" was requested, but it's such a broad category with so many flavors in it that I decided to break it up into a three-week extravaganza, divided by the company's countries of origin. Euro custards will be next week and the week after that will be custard flavors from China and Australia.
If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).
Past FOTW posts can be found here
The NOTED podcasts, which are basically video FOTWs, are listed on this sheet, maintained by /u/apexified

hugs my cap v. Custard v1
"nothing can replace you baby"
This is purely a personal preference, but I've been trying a handful of custard recipes now and I always go back to this old recipe that uses 10% cap v custard v1. It's so thick and eggy and rich. Really feels like I'm eating a Leche flan that's made using egg yolks + 1 whole egg.
Third world custard? Daily vape for 3 years now. I would give up vaping if cap V1 custard was taken from me. No shit
I love me some CAP Vanilla Custard V1, it’s a flavor that’s really hard to replace. But I’m not going to lie, if there was a flavor with a similar profile that didn’t take a 30+ day steep to really shine, I’d be ALL OVER IT.

Lol. Shouldn't be that bad a week for ya though. I could be wrong. I know Capella covers the spread in this game we call Custard. Some Gomer Pyle lemon next week. Surprise, surprise, surprise. Surprise indeed FA..
CAP Vanilla Custard is really good. Checks all the boxes for a good vanilla custard. Good mouth feel and the right amount of vanilla and eggyness. Unfortunately, it really needs a steep to shine.
TFA Vanilla Custard is okay I guess. The vanilla aspect of it is good, but CAP Vanilla Custard is much better in pretty much every aspect IMO.
> good vanilla custard
Oxymoron.
Nothing 'vanilla' is good.
Lol you just can’t help yourself can you? Did somebody attack you with vanilla covered strawberries when you were a child?
Fairly certain that never happened.
It's just that vanilla is an ingredient, not a real flavor. It exists to make actual flavors (like chocolate or caramel) more e complex but it shouldn't ever be distinguishable on its own. If that happens, you just don't have enough actual flavor in whatever. Like all those shitty ice creams that have all the plain crap and only a bit of anything good in them. Which is sadly over half the ice creams in most stores. For every Cherry Garcia or Mayan Chocolate or mint chip, there's two 'flavors' with that plain unflavored crap.
