Mixing by weight question
submitted almost 6 years ago by dieselpb

So I mix by volume, it's just easier for me. But when I first started I mixed by weight like everyone on here said and my mixes tasted terrible.

The way I like to mix is how I was taught by a buddy that was the mixer at our local vape shop. Use a premixed nic(100 mg/ml pg) and vg base in 1/4 of the bottle to make 3 mg base. Add flavoring then top off with vg. Works great for me.

I guess my question is how do I mix by weight when my only pg content is from nic and flavors?

Edit: I have seen where I have gone wrong. Still if you have any mixing input I'll gladly take it.

You put all your information in a mixing calculator and then add your ingredients to the bottle based on the output.

Looks like this.

I'm guessing you were doing something wrong if your mixes tasted terrible because there should be zero difference between mixing by volume and weight when it comes to how a recipe tastes.

Fuck I guess I actually was getting it wrong. I wasn't using ELR's adapt. Thanks for the explanation.

If you're viewing on PC, there's a list of ejuice calculators in the sidebar on the right. Everyone mixes differently, I turn my nic into a 33.33mg mix by using 1 part 100mg pg nicotine to 2 parts vg. Some people just mix straight with their 100mg nicotine. Some mix it down to 50mg by doing half/half. There's a million ways to do it. Whatever you mix it down to, you can just plug it into the calculator.

This is a handy page that provides answers to almost all basic mixing questions.

I've seen a lot of people confused by that, so you're not alone ;)

Better late than never, though. Glad I could help.

The only issue I have with weight is that I'll accidentally squeeze too hard with flavors and it'll jump up .05-.10 so my numbers aren't always 100% spot on but it never makes my flavors taste bad. Usually just gives it a little bit more of a Shisha strawberry pop 😂

I just ordered my first 100mg bottle nicotine/1 ltr of PG/2 ltrs VG. To start off with (no they didn’t have any flavors) I also ordered a 10ml syringe and a 1 ml syringe. Do I HAVE to buy a scale? I also saw the pic of the lady w/600mg CBD juice and ordered it immediately lol! So...?

You don't NEED a scale to mix juice, however, most of us find it to be easier/faster mixing by weight rather than by volume. Some people disagree, and prefer mixing by volume.

As long as you are accurate, the end result will be the same.

I use www.liquidnicotinewholesalers.com e-liquid calculator most of the time because it's extremely easy to use, it let's you specify the total amount you want to make, the nicotine strength, the flavor percentages and of course PG-VG ratio and it gives you the volumes, the grams and the percentage of each ingredient. Perfect. You also can name your recipe and save it.
