Plastic bottles
submitted almost 6 years ago by KugelFanger

Hey Everyone,

I have a question regarding plastic bottles i use to mix my own e-liquid in. It kind of hit me when my forgot that some flavours react with polycarbonate tanks, and my own tank cracked.

I know that glass bottles are the safest way to go, but what about just using plastic bottles. is there a danger of some flavours desolving the plastic bottles as well?? or is it only for the Polycarbonate tanks that crack?? I know that plastic bottles are not ideal, but what are the actual dangers?

I kind of searched this, and did not come up with much. so sorry if it is REALLY clear somewhere.

I use recycle #2 HDPE bottles. I've bought tons of juice in this type of plastic, and been storing my own mixtures in it for a few years at least.

Flavors come in plastic bottles.

If flavors came in polycarbonate bottles, they'd have issues. There's many kinds of plastics that exist. HDPE, LDPE and PET are most common for our use tho.

Juice bottles are pliable and won’t crack. It’s the hard plastic that tanks are made of that are affected by the flavors in question.

The cracking itself does not interest me. It is more the juice reacting with the plastics that worries me, so the question was more about the leeching or me vaping plastic in general.

PET seem to be the safest. Ive had leeching problems with ldpe before

As in?? Destroying the bottle, or actual plastic in the juice.

I tried to use Solo cups for mixing ejuice in since my beakers were broken. Bad idea.
