I've been using recipes I find on ELR and ATF because I'm a DIY person, but not a make-my-own-recipe person. I know people often talk smack about pre-2015 recipes because gear and setups have changed and all that, but I don't really pay attention to the dates, just find something that looks good and try it. I've got some I can vape for a week or more with no issue, but there are a few that gunk up my coils a lot faster, like a few days at most. I'm wondering if flavoring percentages that are too high could be the culprit. I'd say most of my juices are made with TFA and CAP, and the percentages range from 12-20% (total, not per flavor). Of course the percentages are lower with the stronger flavorings like FlavourArt. I really hate having to rewick every couple days. It seems like juice with any kind of bakery flavoring in it does this more than just fruit mixes.
I guess my setup is "old school" with new-ish equipment lol I've got an EHPro(?) True MTL RTA, I wrap my coils at around 1.2 ohms and vape at about 7.5-8.5 watts (very little cloud production = my SO lets me vape in the house instead of having to go outside), and I mix to a 50/50 blend. Anywho, I'm down to my last bottle (I've been lazy and haven't made any in a while lol) and thought I'd ask here before I go mix up some new batches. Thanks in advance!
Certain flavors gunk more than others. Some you should avoid because they're carcinogenic to vape (TFA caramel origknal (DX or otherwise), FW cancer cake,...anything with actual sugar/fructose/caramel) and others are just tough on coils (chocolate flavors, tobacco flavors). Sweetener is a big one, so if you add any sucralose(even if it's called for by the recipe) that's part of the problem.
I avoid the ones that have warnings here and on ELR (if you have a suitable substitute for Cancer Cake tho I'd love to know! Didn't/won't buy it but have a couple recipes that use it). I think the ones that I've seen the most problems with this time around have CAP Sugar Cookie, CAP Vanilla Custard, and TFA VBIC. There might have been another, I don't have the recipes in front of me. Are these known troublemakers? Or if I just lower the percentages, would it help?
Edit: sorry, I probably should have mentioned the flavors in my original post :/
