You know you wanna Piece of this Flavor of the Week: pound & Butter Cake!
submitted almost 6 years ago by ID10-TWinner: Best Recipe of 2019 - Counter Punch

As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!

Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

#This week's flavor is.... POUND AND BUTTER CAKE!

How did that get to be the FOTW?

It was requested! Well, "cake" was requested, but it's such a broad category with so many flavors in it that I decided to break it up into a three-week fat kid heaven extravaganza.

If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

Past FOTW posts can be found here

The NOTED podcasts, which are basically video FOTWs, are listed on this sheet, maintained by /u/apexified

You have no idea how excited I am to see this Noted next week. Also, if no one ends up talking about LMN#, I'm gonna make a stink.

Awww yiss. Lots of great things to look forward to, both near and far.

I'm in the market for some cakes, as I'm tired of this remaining 28mL's of FW Yellow Cake trying to lure me into temptation. Fuck off, Satan!

I haven’t had FW Yellow Cake since people knew about the fructose before I started DIY, but from what I’ve heard is that JF Yellow Cake is a good sub. I obviously can’t make the comparison myself, but JF Yellow Cake is very good.

It's not the same but yes, it's a good sub. Some people say it's even better but it's not IMO. FW Yellow Cake is some really good stuff. Such a shame about it's make up. I ceased using it a while ago.

FW Cake Batter Dip is another I wont use anymore. But OMG that's some good tasting stuff.

Noted. I have one flavor by JF, and I love the scent of it, but it's only two days old, and it isn't hitting the palate yet: Dulce De Leche.

And yeah, had I been doing my due diligence during that order a few weeks back, I would have come upon the fructose issue before I ordered it, rather than after.

JF Yellow Cake also needs to steep before the full flavor comes out, but it’s worth it. :)
