WEEK XXXII
Enjoy experimenting

Hello DIY vjuice fans! And everyone else that may have been left out of that group. Have you purchased and tried any new aroma (i.e. flavor) concentrates lately? If so and you'd like to share your thoughts on how it was; many here may enjoy reading how it suited you. Yes. Many inquiring minds want to know! It amazes me how well people can detect the most subtle notes. Perhaps when we age, we lose some sensitivity in our taste buds. Or maybe we abuse them with overly-spicy/sour and sometimes high temp liquids and foods. Ironically, I usually burn the roof of my mouth when eating hot pizza until it blisters. And that isn't too bothersome for this person.
Seems like quite a few will advise drinking lots of water. And there are quite a few other tricks out there to cleanse and restore the palate. Or sometimes you just have to take a break. Regardless, I have not tried any new concentrates myself. If anyone wants/needs an examples of how you might express those thoughts with us, please look at the former week's post here.
I do enjoy everyone's contributions... no matter how big or small. And almost always, it gets me to thinking about mixing things which are not often considered. Hopefully it has a likewise affect for others. Maybe even providing ideas on what to create next. ENJOY!!

P.S. I'll add the Weekly Thread link in an edit once it's accessible again :(
Just three this time.
LB Eggnog - Mixed it up at the recommended amount. It’s pretty clearly supposed to be Eggnog, but it’s light on the nutmeg flavor, a little thin, and oddly sour. Not like a lemon or stomach acid sour, but like a sour cream or “maybe I don’t want to pour this on my cereal but maybe it will be OK” milk sour. The sell or use by date says yes but my nose says probably not, that kind of milk. Iffy milk. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, just a bit thin for eggnog. There’s a little throat to it despite the silky mouthfeel. This is a seasonal offering that they’ll probably re-release sometime very soon. Or not. Not’s ok, too, as far as I’m concerned.
FW Eggnog - Imagine your job in quality control is “Nutmeg Taster.” You wouldn’t want to taste test straight nutmeg, so you come up with the plan of mixing the freshly grated warm spice with a small amount of Cool Whip. That’s what this is. There’s a very light, fairly fluffy sweet cream base, but it’s nothing at all like the thickness and depth of flavor of eggnog. Or even anything at all that makes it read eggnog and not just a small amount of generic light sweet cream. I can’t find any weird off notes or anything like that, though. It seems like a great option for a smoother, more forgiving nutmeg option vs the highly potent DEATH BY NUTMEG flavor that is TFA Holiday Spice. But it’s mostly just nutmeg.
FLV Eggnog - Nowhere near eggy or rich enough to be a perfect rendition of eggnog, but a bit of heavy sweet cream with some richness, with solid dose of nutmeg and a light hint of cinnamon on top. So, lacking in a way that could be “fixed” if desired with a heavy custard (if using it literally as an eggnog and not some kind of thick warm spice accessory), but nothing at all off and nice spice that’s forward without being overbearing.
I've never vaped any eggnogs. Nor horchata. Are they similar?
VT Chocolate Mousse
3% 60/40 3mg No Steep / Tested on Voopoo Rune RDA / SS316L 24g 4 wraps 0.15ohms 90w
First off, YES. A chocolate that doesn’t taste of piss. WIN. I get a rich chocolate mousse / crème. Exhale is pretty full bodied and rich, but clean tasting. Tastes fairly accurate as a straight chocolate mousse. Zero chalkiness. Zero piss. (I get a cat piss note from JF Milk Chocolate pretty prominently, and a slight piss note from MB Glamour Chocolate at any percentage.) So this is a pretty substantial win.
It’s not overly sweet or complex. Maybe even one dimensional, but seriously good at that. Might benefit from a little sweetener, but doesn’t really need it. Pairs particularly well with VT Banana Custard and really nicely with FLV Connecticut Shade, enhancing the cocoa notes in the latter.

Dark and rum like, with notes of raisin & cocoa? Some say coffee but I’m not really getting that. There’s some bitterness that’s a little like a strong black coffee, so I suppose that might explain it. Reminds me a bit of a rum & raisin chocolate bar. Heavy on the rum. Not a real rum flavour though. More on the artificial side. That takes nothing away from the experience though. This is a pleasure to vape solo.
I get something like a dark berry in here. I was gonna say juniper, but that’s not it. Maybe plum as well? Slight leather note in the base with all that darkness. Thick mouthfeel. Leaves a pleasant aftertaste of plum and raisin, maybe reminiscent of a sweet alcoholic beverage like cherry brandy?
Can see this pairing well with other tobacco offerings from FLV. Burley would be a good place to start, to bring some leafy/nutty accents. Could also see it working with Tatanka, due to the latter’s slight raisin quality. But the subtlety of Tatanka might get buried by this.
The bitterness can get a little overbearing after a while. I get a slight medicinal note if I chain vape it. But it’s not massively objectionable, and I've heard this note gets buried in the mix anyway. Pairs really well with VT Chocolate Mousse. Could work with other cocoa and chocolate flavours, but I’ve not found another one that works better up to now.
TFA - Banana Nut Bread
I was not too fond of this at 5%, but I could tell that there was some potential. At 5%, I get all of the notes, but all that shined was the hint of a sliiiiightly artificial banana. Dryness was notable.
I boosted it up to 8% and, wow, this is where the walnut really comes out, and the dryness is more pronounced. The banana, whilst some odd combination of natural and artificial, is a nice little send-off. This is one of the most complex flavors I've tried, honestly.
FW - Crunch Cereal (.004% acetoin)
I was hoping to use this in my Cap'n Crunch, but I'd much sooner see myself using this in something like Lucky Charms. Definitely not a corn/oat cereal. I tried it at 6%, and just feel like this flavor is a let-down. It's like an impotent FA Marshmallow.
To anyone reading this, do you think Cereal 27 would be the winner for me? I'm going to be ordering that anyway, but just asking out of curiosity.
If you are going to be mixing up a lot of cereal vapes, personally think it's a must-have. Can also be useful in cookie recipes and definitely cornbread. Should you ever have to choose between it and Acetyl Pyrazine, the latter is used to enhance flavors and not create a "base" component.
