CNT nic (new diyer)
submitted almost 6 years ago by RIPJimiH

Hello everyone, I just received my order from Liquid Barn, and I was super pumped. I right away mixed up some Quick one shot at the suggested percentage and used .25% of cap super sweet. I used 3mg/ml of the CNT nic, I got the 100mg/ml bottle, and a 70/30 ratio. It tastes good like strawberry milk, but it tastes like pepper, very slightly. Could this be the nicotine? I'm assuming so, or could it be the one shot. I just mixed some blue raspberry up at the same nic percent and I don't taste pepper at all so now I'm confused.... These are my first 2 mixes ever

Based on your description, it sounds like you might be a "pepper taster"

What this means is that some vanilla/ ice cream flavors have a pepper taste to them...to you.

Some people also cant taste strawberry flavorings. It all depends on your palate.

I can taste the strawberry and the cream flavors. Tastes like strawberry milk. And my adv at the moment is between steezy strawberry milk and keep it 100 strawberry milk. And I also LOVE cheesecake flavors. I've never had this really happen before except when I accidentally bought a 6mg naked berries and cream. And I'm pretty sure that was the nic cuz I liked the 3mg version...

Well maybe that particular recipe just doesnt hide the taste of the nic as well as the blue razz

I'm a moderate pepper taster. I get a slight pepper taste from tfa vanilla bean ice cream, but not from LB vanilla bean ice cream. I also only get it if there's a large amount in the mix.

My wife thinks most of my cream mixes taste like "rotten milk". Basically it's all subjective and varies from person to person. Sometimes you're going to get a flavor you don't like.

It's a one shot Wayne from diyordie made tho. Strawberry malted milk. I don't see how I'm like the only one that can have a bad review of it. I'm hoping it's just cuz of steeping. I've never had a problem with any flavor. And I've tried plenty. Like I mean plenty. I didn't really ever have an actual adv longer than 2 weeks

Well I mixed it without nicotine. It's definitely not the nicotine as I got the same peppery like taste without nicotine. So I'm hoping it's cuz it hasn't steeped yet. I bought 60ml of this one shot also so that would be 15 bucks down the drain if it doesn't get better with a steep. But I feel better that it's not the nicotine.

I agree, try it in a few days and see if the off-notes fade

Im a pepper taster and it sucks because I love vanilla bean ice cream (in real life) but every vanilla bean ice cream flavor I have tried so far tastes peppery.

I've had plenty other vanilla ice cream flavors tho. So I don't see how this is the case.

How long did you let it steep?

I didn't. It says on liquid barn website that you can shake and vape but tastes better if you let it steep. Which I was thinking that could also be it. I just never thought that would cause a peppery taste if it's not steeped. It tastes good other wise. It's like a slight pepper note to it.

Well you could be a pepper taster as some have said, or it could be older nic which does take on a pepper taste if it starts to oxidize. But - i'd let it steep for about three days and try it again and see if you're still picking it up.

Failing that - try mixing some up with no nic and see if there's a difference in taste, if the pepper is gone, it may well be the nic.

Yeah well it's supposed to be the best nic from Liquid barn. And like I just got it today. It is even advertised to have less of the "peppery" taste. I hope it's just the steep throwing it off

Also. If I'm going to store nicotine in the fridge, do I have to put it in a glass bottle and seal it? Or can I just put it in the LB bottle that it came in in the fridge?

Separate nicotine that you have opened into smaller bottles. Only use one of the smaller bottles at a time. You don't want to be opening and pulling from your main bottle Everytime you mix, because you want to keep air and light out, and try to maintain a stable temp

This is good advice. For long term storage glass bottles are optimal. I've used PET (hard clear plastic) bottles in the past and never had a problem. I do use glass now though for the nic I keep in the freezer.

The nic I use to mix with resides in my refrigerator in an amber colored PET dropper bottle. I find it much easier to add my nic to mixes like I would with a flavor bottle. Again, I've never had a problem.

Yeah well when I mixed the other night I put a twist top on from liquid barn cuz I bought like 10 extra. And I just put a couple drops in from that. But yeah they are all 10% solutions. 2 125ml bottles of CNT nic, and 1 125ml bottle of the salts liquid barn has idk if the salts are CNT or something else. And the 1 CNT I didn't open and the salts I didn't open are still sealed. So basically break them down into what? 1oz Amber or Cobalt blue glass bottles, or 2oz? And should I dilute them? Also what are good glass bottles that keep a seal? Cuz every time I've gotten commercial juice in a glass bottle it leaks like no other after you crack the seal, and they never seem to thread on correctly. That is the only reason I'm hesitant on buying just whatever brand glass bottles. And how would I seal them? I don't want any oxygen getting in the bottles right?

Sometimes nicotine can come out in different way depending on flavors or mixes. It might take some trial and error but personally I have found certain flavors really need either different nicotine or less. You can try using a different type of nicotine with those or just find the "sweet spot". Also you might want to consider looking into a magnetic spinner, I personally use one and it helps mixing and steeping ALOT. You can pick up one of the nitecore ones specially designed for juice for under 60$. Anyway i hope that helps a bit. If you have other questions I will do my best to answer. Happy vaping :D

I mixed it with 0 nic also and it had the same taste so I think it just needs to steep longer. Its a strawberry milk flavor. And Ive been vaping a steezy straw milk and a keep it 100 straw milk for the past 2 weeks now and never had a problem. So I don't think I'm a pepper taster like others have said as I prefer cream with vanilla notes on plenty of juices I've bought and had others mix for me

Pretty exclusive build for 0.2ohm @ 50watt and what I taste in my tank is very little nic at 3mg. It's apparent at 12. I always taste it in my juul at 50nic but it's salt so it's honestly almost comparable to my 12 freebase nic. I never really associate pepper with nic, it's just its own thing but I guess it's similar, you learn the difference. I only really experience pepper on vanilla, but not on creams, theae two categories are often considered one of the same because they often cross over but they are seperate beasts. The culprit is vanillin.

Try picking up fresh cream by FA if you get pepper from vanilla as it's my go to substitution for vanilla for my friends who complain about pepper in my juice. I find marshmallow to be a less offensive vanilla and I personally cannot stand vanilla swirl by TFA at all. You might find TFA/CAP New York cheesecake to be a great substitute where vanilla custards are mentioned. I seem to get away with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream by TFA as long as I use it where recipes call for 2% or less.

I've never had a problem with other vanilla flavors, like vanilla custards, cakes, or ice creams. So idk why it all the sudden is hapoening. I have strawberry custard mixed with vanilla custard rn and I don't notice anything so I think I just need a steep.

Maybe, yeah. I'm not sure how vanillin taste receptors work but I definitely get the bite. Maybe receptors change late in life, smoking tobacco certainly changes taste receptors quite alot but I'm not sure if there's an overall loss from attaining the habit but you definitely aquire better taste again when you quit for good. I don't recall ever having problems with bakery flavors myself though, aside from cake batter which reminds me of vanilla whipped cream quite alot.

its still crazy to me that some people taste pepper in some vanilla ice creams and some dont. It reminds me of the yanny/laurel debacle where i almost felt like some were lying that they hear something else.

Crazy to me too... I don't believe it lol. I'm hoping it either tastes like that to everyone or that it's the malted milk note and it needs to steep. Cuz I guess Quik is a strawberry malted milk.
