TFA citrus punch has vitamin E listed in the ingredients
submitted almost 6 years ago by selfperpetuatingauto

With all the hysteria going around I'm not sure what this means...

Vitamin E Acetate is the problem ingredient. Vitamin E is not. So I'd hope the ingredient list is accurate.

Here's the one for citrus punch.

This whole thing about vitamin E acetate and THC causing panic is bad enough with all the misinformation going around.

Here we have actual flavors with vitamin E used in them, acetate or not, it's like gasoline waiting for a match.

Well these flavors aren't designed for vaping

Good catch. This sub should start working on a list like was done for flavors with sugar

Proprietary stuff?

Otherwise WHMIS would be all up in their ass 😉

Vitamin E acetate is an oil. If your flavoring had this you would notice a layer on top of your liquid since oil won't mix in with the other water soluble products we use to mix with. You should be fine using it as long as you don't notice anything odd.

Isn't pg like alcohol as in. You can mix both water and oil soluble stuff in it.

While it is a type of alcohol, I don't see it acting like a solvent quite as well as say grain alcohol, but that's just anecdotal to be fair. It's not just the solubility of oil in PG; the oil also has to be properly vaporized, even in solution. The thinning of the oil in the solution can make this easier (assuming it dissolves in solution at all), but you'd still need to hit close to it's vapor point for it to work. Better to just make sure your devices are designed to handle it, preferably devices that can do wax or oil without thinners or additives, but that's just my preference. The logic being the fewer things in the mix, the fewer potential risk factors.

We put together a list of flavors to avoid here based on scraping ~2000 MSDS via software.

We added Vitamin E to be cautious, but it is usually used at <0.01% and only three TPA flavors have it.

EDIT: Only TPA Lemon Lime has Vitamin E in any substantive amount.

If you call up TFA, they will adamantly tell you not to use their flavorings for any vapor application. I know a lot of people love them despite this, but I will never understand that.

So?

FLV Citrus Soda. CAP Lemon Lime. VT fizzy sherbet. Three flavors pretty much everyone would use ahead of TFA vitrus punch. Only the gits who refuse to use flavors from multiple companies, and use only TFA are likely to be impacted. And even then... It's not Vitamin E Acetate, it's not a huge amount of the flavor composition, and the flavor is used around 1% in finished juice in the rare cases where it's used. Other than a possible fake news shitstorm like the diacetyl panic, I don't see a issue.

And there'll always be fake news shitstorms as long as big government, big pharma, and big anti-smokers oppose vaping (ie until it's taxed to hell, sold by prescription, and ineffective at reducing the population of smokers).

Fair enough - but you have to also consider the fact that some chains and B&Ms looking to maximize profit *are* the people who are making juices with limited ingredients - and often for the biggest bang for the buck, turning to brands like TFA/TPA. Chances are that their juices, some as shitty as they are, go through a lot more product than most of us do. Whether or not it is safe is only tangential to the actual point, and that is since the public is swallowing everything that they are being fed right now, it is a no-brainer that this is the exact same thing that they may eventually pick up on, too.

Especially at times like right now, when there is an absolute truth-be-damned media crusade against what is most likely safe and not involved in any of the hysteria, it becomes only a matter of time before our DIY communities become what is in the crosshairs. All it takes is some "investigative journalist" to start researching DIY and start slinging bullshit fear-mongering based on the fact that while we do know what is in our juices, we don't really know what is in the flavorings in our juices a lot of time. Right, wrong, or indifferent, we live is fucking brutally scary times.

I don’t think we have much says in what those juice manufacturers ( B&M or chains ) can or cannot use in their mix. Like you said, their goal is maximizing profits, and we don’t even know what kinda shady recipe/flavoring they use

I don’t think flavor makers will take down their “questionable” flavors if we raise our concerns . Best they would do is to make a v2/DX version. Their flavors have other uses, not just e-liquid ( well, except for flavorah ). Hell, most of them won’t even give a flying fcuk , just look at FW and their sugar loaded shits.

As for the journalist/press, vaping is an easy target. If they want to fuck us up, they will find away. You know, bending truth, omitting facts, blowing things out of proportion, their usual tactics.

As DIY mixers, the best we can do is to inform each others with facts. That way we can decide how much risk should we take ( or not )

Problem is, while I agree with a lot of what you say, even if there was nothing even tangetially close to the truth that could be used against us, it just takes one Big Pharma PR guy slipping cash to some "journalist" and he/she will just make shit up, and then others will report on that report (so they don't have to even pretend to fact check and instead keep the claim in the news) and then it'll go viral in facebook memes among the clueless.
