Just one reason to DIY: Let’s break down the price on my absolute FAVORITE DIY vape flavor. From a Michigander who is affected by flavor bans! Recipe, websites, and prices inside!
submitted over 5 years ago by EvasiveJoker425

Evening all!

My favorite vape flavor is definitely an easy one to make, but I wanted to put this out there for anyone who might be considering getting into DIY.

I recently stumbled across a Green Jolly Rancher vape juice that has turned into my absolute favorite as an ADV. Let’s break down the details, rounding prices, of course:

Ingredients Used

  • 100mg/mL Nicotine in 100% VG (Nicotine River) Purchased 150mL for $8.99 ($0.06 per mL)

  • 500mL PG (Nicotine River) Purchased for $6.99 ($0.01 per mL)

  • 500mL VG (Nicotine River) Purchased for $3.75 ($0.01 per mL)

  • 60mL Capella Apple Hard Candy (Bull City Flavors) Purchased for $7.50 ($0.13 per mL)

  • 30mL Flavorah Sour Apple (Bull City Flavors) Purchased for $10.20 ($0.34 per mL)

  • 30mL Capella Super Sweet (Bull City Flavors) Purchased for $4.00 ($0.13 per mL)

Recipe

  • Capella Apple Hard Candy 12%
  • Flavorah Sour Apple 3%
  • Capella Super Sweet 1%

I wanted 60mL @ 3% Nicotine, with a 70VG / 30 PG ratio. Based on the prices per mL above, here are the values.

  • Base Nicotine: 1.8mL ($0.11)
  • PG: 8.4mL ($0.08)
  • VG: 40.2mL ($0.40)
  • Capella Apple Hard Candy: 7.2mL ($0.94)
  • Flavorah Sour Apple: 1.8mL ($0.61)
  • Capella Super Sweet: 0.6mL (0.08)

This brings the grand total for all liquids to a whopping:

$2.22

Add in the cost of the 60mL bottle of $0.33 (Nicotine River), and we have a grand total of:

$2.55

I can enjoy my ADV (which is also spectacular as a shake and vape, by the way) for just over TWO DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS!

Now, I live in Michigan where we’re affected by a flavor ban, as are a lot of you here and in other states. I implore you, look into DIY. You don’t have to go back to cigarettes or feel that all hope is lost.

I feel so free to be able to find recipes and order what I need to circumvent this flavor ban, and I still get to enjoy my favorite hobby.

P.S. I’d also like to add that you can save even MORE by buying your ingredients in larger quantities. This is just my price for the values that I bought. The price can be EVEN LOWER.

Enjoy all! Happy Vaping!

Can make it even cheaper if you buy your supplies on major holiday sale knock off another 20% to 30%

And buy in larger quantities. VG holds damn near forever, so I just get a gallon (3,800ml) every year or so for $20.

Also buy glass bottles throw them in dishwasher and good to go for next time. Little more of a pain but don’t have to continue buying bottles. I’m a tight ass that’s why I diy :)

My state (Indiana) doesn't have any bans yet, but because of the bans that have been happening, I have taken myself into the DIY world...

SO much cheaper, but even if it wasn't, I would still do it now. I have tried well over a hundred different commercial juices since I started vaping, and now three of my top five favorites are juices that I made myself.

I'm closing in on copying my all-time favorite juice, which is a lucky charms knockoff... Once I hit that white whale, I will never buy a retail juice again!

That one is good but I liked this one more. It says it is Frosted flakes but it taste like lucky charms to me. https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/41001#tony_s_revenge_frosted_flakes_on_steroids_by_steamon

Sounds like it. If you're looking for Frosted Flakes, there's a really good one out there by Shroomy

All of the ingredients in that one scream Lucky Charms, and don't resemble any Frosted Flakes recipe I have ever seen...

I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!

Awesome... I am missing a couple ingredients for this one, but I will order them and try it as soon as I can.

Thanks for the recipe..!

Nicotine in PG form is a lot easier to mix up than VG form. I've found this out my first time doing it.

Oh I agree. I ordered VG by mistake lol

First time I mad ejuice I did it. Wouldn't ever do it again lol. Especially 100mg/ml, you vape a hot spot and damn that shit hurts

I'm a michigander as well and stocked up on ejuice because of vapocalypse. The more I read and watch vids on diy I kinda wish I didn't waste so much money and forced myself into diy sooner

my advice is to save all your bottles for when you do venture into DIY. it may only save a few cents/dollars but a few saved is more on flavor!!

My 240ml bottles cost me ~$6 total.

I have friends paying upwards of $15 for a 30ml bottle of over sweetened crap. I always offer a few bottles, but rarely have any takers.

My roommate has literally saved hundreds of dollars this year on juice, by just using my mixes. He tosses me $50 bucks every couple months to help re-supply

Fellow Michigander here! Im saving this for the near future, after I'm done with the 50bottles I stocked up on for this bullshit.

I keep my stash of flavors in the fridge and most of them are unopened. I could choose to not buy another flavoring for years and my only expense would be nicotine and VG.

In my country same amount of nicotine, actually 100ml costs 32€ 😂😂

Can't buy 100mg/ml here anymore. Think it was around $90cdn per liter when I stocked up before it was outlawed.

by osfp777over 5 years ago

Yea here is illegal too. Only 10ml 20mg allowed that costs 3.5€-5.00€

Pretty sure they're taxing the fuck out of you for it. Which is about normal for you guys.

Vermont has banned it unfairly, so now I must become a bootlegger. I will make vape juice in my bathtub and hide bottles of it in my old-timey cane. I guess in a way this is the new prohibition? Either way, this is really encouraging for saving money.

Good post. However, don't a lot of the flavor bans also make possession illegal? Be careful, folks.

Not all all.Only the sale of commercial prepared eliquids.

So to be clear... if my state institutes a ban, I can happily mix my own with no problems. What probs will I encounter? Wondering about availability of mods, tanks, etc. if businesses close doors. Frankly I order everything on the internet and make my own juice with the exception of one ... Betty. Just wondering what changes I will be looking at if this ban does happen here in our state.

Reading your prices, I think that's actually crazy expensive. I think I've been in China too long.

Figuring 60mL bottles in brick and mortar stores can easily cost you $15-20, and even online around $10-$15, I'll take $2.55 any day!

Hi! NY just instituted it's unconstitutional and unfair vaping policy here.. Cuomo basically sold out to Big tobacco so us vapers are paying the price..but.. it's a much cheaper price as I'm finding out.. lol I WAS going to order the pieces all separate, but I didn't want to muck it up my first time so I ordered a kit today.. From here> https://liquidnicotinewholesalers.com/diy-e-liquid-kit.html

They have all the instructions, a handy calculator and ability to save your favorite recipes! I feel like this silver lining just opened a new world for me!

Thanks America for being so corrupt!

OH.. If anyone knows of any great places to get cotton candy or berry flavors, let me know! This place sold them for a bit over $2 but I'd like to find different kinds cheap so I can play more. ;)
