As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is.... EGGNOG!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested! If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).
Past FOTW posts can be found here
The NOTED podcasts, which are basically video FOTWs, are listed on this sheet, maintained by /u/apexified

IRL, pretty much 'eggnog' is just a spiced milk flavor (at least, that's what commercially available eggnog is). And of course it goes well with dark rum. So what flavor gives that spice blend (whose original purpose was to cover up the horrible taste of egg, I'm sure) and some creaminess, so a good dark rum and eggnog vape would be possible?
Same ingredients as custard but thinner (more milk) and heavier spices.
I find FA Vienna Cream, when steeped for months, comes up very close to the profile.
FA Vienna cream has the spice profile of eggnog? I thought it was mostly vanilla, not real spices...
FLV Eggnog in my experience, which to date is very limited, but that's about to change. You don't need a blend of spices, just nutmeg top notes with a creamy base. FLV Eggnog does that. Might want to thicken it further it with a little bit of a custard flavor that's not vanilla-y, INW Custard is the the first one that comes to mind. If you wanted it to be more milky, FA Milk or OoO Creamy Underpants. And of course the awesome combination of VT Light Rum + FA Jamaican Rum.
Yeah, that's the rum I was thinking of. With a bit of molasses, maybe. Maybe CC Devon Cream? But I always thought eggnog had a bit of clove...not much, just a bit...
CC Devon Cream would also thicken it up, for sure. That stuff's like buttermilk.
It's not supposed to have any clove, but DIY yo, it can have clove if you want it to. It's often served with a cinnamon stick or two as garnish so you might want to add some of that?
My experience with FW eggnog is that someone forgot to add the custard there. It's a good start for the spices though if you wanted to build toward an eggnog from component parts. Heaps easier to work with than something like TFA holiday spice as well.
Just thinking I'd try coming up with a eggnog tobacco.... That hasn't been done definitively yet, has it? (Don't wanna reinvent the wheel...) I recall TFA eggnog as being heavy on the spice and not much else.. It could work with Native, I think, with a hit of molasses...
CBV just recently released this: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/167023#jolly_old_pipe_by_chemicalburnvictim

I feel like TFA Horchata Smooth would be a good custard thinner since there is nothing buttery or funky about it, plus it has that “cinnamon broom/pine cone/smells like Michael’s” thing going on. It could bring some cinnamon ~fragrance~ instead of flavor along and the things i didnt like about it stand alone would not be out of place in an eggnog mood.
I tell you what, using the whole bottle a few drops at a time in the tank of my steam mop was heaven!
This flavour is my... black whale? Is that a thing?
I got TFA Horchata and TFA Rumchata in the original TFA glass bottles from a lucky dip last year, and I have not for the life of me been able to work out how on earth to use them. It's admittedly not the smooth version, but holy cripes it rivals FLV in strength.
When I look it up, I can find a bunch of 5+ year old forum posts of people enjoying it at +15%...
It probably mutes itself into tolerableness around 6 or 7% which would be like , on gear from five years ago, 15%.
Hi u/ID10-T, please can I request a FOTW? Orange is 1 year old - and there's no mandarin.
