DIY Digest XXV: The BEST Posts
submitted almost 6 years ago by ApexifiedThe Kingmaker

#Announcements

>The DIY Discord shot past the 1 thousand user milestone last week, thanks in part to the Liquid Barn Beginner Kit giveaway I announced in the last Digest. Speaking of: There are 4 days left to enter for the last of the 3 kits they offered up. And for the finale I also decided to throw in 18 flavors for the winner from my own stash (unopened duplicates) and even curate some recipes from those flavors to share with whoever wins.

And as soon as the Newcomer giveaway ends there's another one planned for everyone from the always generous Flavorah. Their last giveaway was pretty awesome and this next one should be even better.

#Intro

Thanks to the many states who have announced flavor bans over the last month the subreddit has grown quite a bit and the number of posts has more than doubled, making it so things like recipes, flavor reviews, tutorials, etc end up getting pushed off the front page faster than ever.

If you're new to the Digest the basic concept is just to highlight all the best posts you might have missed; and unless you're checking the sub multiple times a day, it's likely you've missed a few.

#Highlights

  • /u/Foxer604 post DIY'ers need to step up big time resonated with a lot of people, so much so that it's now one of the most upvoted posts in the subs history. And since that post not only has Foxer stepped up but many of the people who commented have as well. One request I have from all the people who want to step up and help: If you see a question that is answered in the FAQ (and A LOT of then are) drop a link and tell them where you found it.

  • /u/isuamadog's Call to Action Post Flavor Bans is an excellent guide to the ways you can help in keeping this community awesome.

  • FAQ Friday: The BEST Questions happened and then those same 4 questions were still posted multiple times. Wait, is that what FAQ means?

  • /u/tuttifruttithrowaway dove down the /r/Deeper_DIY rabbit hole in their quest to analyze and understand the components of Juul's Mango.

  • /u/sirfletchalot released their S&V recipe Super Strawberry Lemonade

  • /u/isuamadog hit us with another Tutorial Tuesday this time covering the concept of flavor profiles and calling on contributors to dive deeper into each profile (with an example of what that might look like.)

  • /u/standardtissue shared their fresh perspective with "some of my rookie mistakes" full of good tips on things you're likely to encounter when you begin your DIY journey.

  • /u/Phatpharm269 dropped Watermelon Spritzer which I actually reviewed in our Weekly What are you vaping thread.

###But wait, there's more >"Normally" I do this weekly, but I skipped a week and now there's too much good shit to highlight...

  • /u/ChemicalBurnVictim our resident tobacco expert released a couple Sweet and Smokey Seasonal Recipes which I will be mixing ASAP.

  • /u/modivin made an excellent post "On mixing other people's recipes"

  • /u/glasschalice468 AKA DragonLady shared her stash and short notes on the flavors she's purchased over the last 6 months.

  • /u/ConcreteTablet wanted to shout from the rooftops "I did IT!" with their post about mixing juice for the first time. "And THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE! I'm in business. It really was alot easier than I thought it was going to be."

  • /u/aberz0202 shared a video of their DIY juice shaker rig

  • and finally we had another Tutorial Tuesday post by none other than /u/isuamadog about Stand Alone Flavors, 2 Flavor Mixes, and Simple Mixes.

Dude I love this digest. This should get stickied every week, DIY ejuice is one of the subs I have a harder time searching through to find what I need. This will be all I need now

You know, I will never cease to be tickled when I see my name in blue. I'm not ashamed to admit it. The Digest is a reminder of all the greatness that comes through here weekly, when it's hard to see it daily. It still kills me that we have so many lurkers and i want them to find a place here like I did. I'm hoping that changes. Until then, thank you all for your work and your comments.
