I’m normally 50pg/50vg Also, I’m just shopping/reading up on how to begin. A little overwhelmed. Apologies if a dumb question.
VG sucks to work with compared to PG... I have bought both, but never used the VG Nic cause the PG is so much easier to measure and work with.
Plus if you are a 50/50 kinda guy, its easier to mix all the PG parts first, and then just add VG as the remainder.
Jc, how so? I'm new to this and just placed my first order of some 50/50; interested in knowing what to be aware of. Didn't see any details about VG difficulty in the sidebar tutorials, do you need to warm it first or something to make it easier?
It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.
I think the main issue is that nicotine in 100% pg is easier to measure in a full recipe and nicotine holds better in pg due to viscosity.

Thanks for the reply, I read on one vendor's site in bold letters not to shake 100%vg nic, is that true? Hadn't read it anywhere else and have no idea whether people do with PG nic or 50/50 prior to mixing juices (that vendor didn't sell 50/50 so no clue)
if you are mixing with syringes (even if by weight, they are great delivery vehicles) you will find out on your first attempt to suck VG up into a syringe. VG is like some REALLY thick maple syrup and PG is like thick water.
VG is honestly probably about 10 times thicker than PG. It's like fake syrup (the horrible corn syrup stuff) vs water, so VG is very hard to measure accurately because it's so thick. I drip it from a dripper bottle and it's really hard to drip out, so lately I've started just pouring it from a bigger bottle until I get close, and then using the drip to more precisely measure to my final amount.
PG on the other hand drips extremely well, so it's very easy to measure accurately drop by drop.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking of going to CVS and buying one of those children's medicine syringes like this one for measuring my vg (I'll probably start doing weight but I don't have a scale yet). My thought is they're designed for thick liquid and are way more blunt nosed than other blunt syringes I've seen on vape sites. Is that a dumb idea or sounds fine?
Edit: nvm, I just picked that exact syringe up and it worked like a charm! The bottle adapter is actually much more useful than I thought too because my VG bottle has an opening the perfect size for it. No funnel needed, no mess.
I get VG based Nic just because I vape at 80% VG (I'm sort of allergic to PG in high quantities), since flavors are usually PG-based I wouldn't be able to reach 80% VG otherwise. I then use distilled water as a PG replacement.
If you can vape PG then go for PG, easier to mix like everyone is commenting.
100mg in PG is the most popular or common. That's what I get. I have a theory. Store sell that the most.. I think lol. So the chances of betting old shitty nic are less when getting it. I could be way off in my thinking. But my first order was 100mg in 50/50 base. It was horrible.
To me I usually get my freebase nic in PG, Mainly because I sometimes use it when I make medicines and you cant use VG with certain things (well at least and get good results). I buy 50/50 salt nic for my SO, It really is something that when you make more juice you will find what mixes, you prefer, I personally premix, so I will have several bottles at different %'s and nic strength that I use most often. Then I have smaller bottle of each that I can use to make smaller changes. I would suggest as a first purchase buy, A bottle of Nic either a premix or the 100/250 mg/ml. some PG and VG, and start with like 10-20 small bottles of flavor. play around with that and see what works for you and buy a larger amount as you get more comfortable with what flavors and accessories are the most important. oh and and dont forget to get some bottles and a funnel ;) . If you are interested I can compile a list of my equipment and what I use it for if you are interested.
I use VG because it's easier. Essentially I only calculate and measure my PG & PG based ingredients. When they are added I add my Nic (VG based) and top the bottle off with VG. I'm really only eye balling when it's "full". Just a more stream lined way then having to calculate & measure both my PG & VG. Saves a step and my VG/PG ratio doesn't need to be exact, though it's pretty darn close.
To help with some of the Viscosity issues I do pre-warm my Nic before using, do shake it often and do use a larger sized needle gauge. I can't remember the actual number but just buy 3 different sizes and one will work.
Hope this help.
I use PG-based nicotine for much the same reason...
Since my ingredients are PG-based, and my nic being PG-based, I can usually come close to a 70/30 VG/PG ratio without having to add any straight PG. I just mix the ingredients, add the nicotine, and then top off with VG.
Only in rare cases I have to add a few mL of PG.
