I plan on getting into DIY juice once I'm able to get the supplies for it, but I'm unsure on what recipes to start with. There's a lot of recipes to try out, but it becomes a bit overwhelming to choose between them. Any ideas on a fruity flavor to start with?
Edit: Here you go u/n33lo
I'm looking for more tropical-like flavors, such as pineapple, dragonfruit, kiwi, etc. Unique flavors of a sort. I'd prefer more of a straight fruit flavor, as I'm not much of a dessert juice guy.
Oh have I got the recipe for you.
Made by our very own hashslashingslashur, it's prickly victory
1% inw cactus 4% cap sweet guava
SnV.
But he said no desert juice!
Rainforest (0.4% INW cactus, 3% CAP Sweet guava and 2% TPA Honeysuckle) is absolutely delicious, simple and tropical too! Defo no cacti in a forest, so it's more "Desertforest" in my opinion but damn already vaped 100ml since I saw it 5 days ago
I'm late on this, mixed this one up for the first time after I've been vaping commercial on and off for a couple weeks, for me I needed some sweetener too. After a couple weeks of DIY I'm sure my tongue will be happier to step down, but for now, I need me some sweet! If you don't like the recipe as mixed, that would be my recommendation, but I hope you already tried and are enjoying it!

This is a great website for recipes, clones etc. Try Googling eliquid recipe websites too. 99recipes is a good one. Start with simple recipes or single flavours and experiment with different flavour brands. Apple, strawberry, blueberry, mango, honeydew are all nice, but it's mostly trial and error, explore flavour combos and things you like. Make sure you steep or let them sit once made for minimum 2 weeks, one month is even better. Watch videos on YouTube on how to make eliquids.

Ws23
Edit: fyi I am a strawberry nontaster so I didn't bother recommending any since my perception of those flavors is all wonky
Solid line up, for me personally, I'd add TFA Strawberry Ripe, FA Red Touch (Strawberry), CAP Double Apple.
Yeah I'm totally clueless on strawberry. I've tried a lot and they have no flavor.
Fruits are probably the best place to start for beginners as some of the best fruit recipes are simple 2 flavour combos. One of my faves right now is a simple mix of....
- INW shisha strawberry 4%
- CAP kiwi 2%
That's it, add a bit of WS-23 if you like your fruit flavours icy
There's a million. I have some great ones. What kind of fruit tastes do you like? Grape, strawberry, blueberry, watermellon, combinations of all of those? :)
Here's a recipe from hippy vapes i make all the time, it's a grape soda. The recipe link is in the description but it's worth watching the video, he did it for newer mixers.
Being vape shops can't sell flavored juices are the places that sell nic pg vg and flavorings still open and not giving anyone problems buying flavors and diy stuff.
This: In a Godda Da Vida!
If you like watermelon lorann watermelon is a straight jolly rancher flavor and steeps overnight.
Do you add anything else?
When I make watermelon I like to add some inwera raspberry pairs really well and alittle lemon Sicily for a sharper note to cut through the sweetness. A lot of people will recommend no sweeteners but they can REALLY enhance the flavor any sweetener will do I use capella super sweet just alittle like .5% usually add alittle inawera cactus as well sweetens things up and adds some moisture
One word on ELR. Those who say it's bad are right and wrong at the same time. There is a huge amount of recipes listed. Among them some of the best recipes ever created in DIY. But how would you know? That's the problem. But you can click on ratings and look at the best rated recipes of all times (if a recipe was rated 5 stars 100 - 300 times tells you something). Critiques are a lesson too. Also some of the mixers with the highest reputation in the community post their recipes on ELR - and not always on ATF. For example freshepies, the juicy fairy, mlNikon, Tam Vapes, DIY_Downunder (Pippa), Daytime Frank, Mech_Mod (Mary Beth), and many more. If you register you can follow them and get notified when they post new recipes. YouTube: Fresh03 published a series of videos named "recipes for beginners". They have been a great learning experience for me. Also the channels "Developed", "Mixing Vixens", Folkarts channel, and for flavors "Noted".
I'd like to add FA Pear, INW Cherries and Cocopilada to the list of fruity flavors. INW Pineapple is also useful. FA Pear at 0.5% to 0.75% is great as sweetener. Often you don't need Sucralose. And the aforementioned INW Cactus is mainly used to combat dry tasting flavors, e. g. at 0.5% - it's very juicy. Not so much used as fruit flavor though. Also, go to alltheflavors.com and search for either a specific flavor or the specified manufacturer (link flavors). e-liquid-recipes and reddit both had a section for 1-flavor recipes, 2-flavor recipes and 3-flavor recipes. Sections are a bit dated but the recipes are tasty and easy to mix. No really rare flavors or brands.
Addition: Red Summer (FA Watermelon), INW Grape (recommended by Fresh03) and FA or FW Blood Orange (recommended by Wayne, diyordie). If you like berries, FLV Boysenberry is a must have, FA Black Currant is versatile and useful at low percentages (give the mix a syrup touch).
Stay away from e liquid recipes
Why?
Sure. I’ve been mixing for three years. I’ve made over 300 different unique recipes in that time. When I first started, I was using elr. My keep / mix again ratio was around 1 in 20. And by that I mean rejects equal lousy or downright horrid. I almost gave up doing DIY because of it. Then I sprang for the cheap all the flavors recipe website membership fee. My keep rate went up to around 1 in 5. Part of this has to do with personal preference, but a lot of it has to do with recipe quality. The switch, I felt like I really was making progress in identifying recipes that I could make over and over for myself that I loved. I have a three ring binder with every recipe rated according to whether I liked it or not. Anytime I want to make something, I just stick to the recipes are rated eight out of 10 or higher. I can’t go wrong now. I would also point out that I am not afraid to try unusual sounding recipes. You never know when you’re going to find a gem If I stayed to a more conservative flavor profile, in other words traditional fruits and bakeries, my keep rate would probably be more like one in three.
I would add that my criteria are this. Must taste good, must taste good at the END of the bottle (often flavors start out good but after two days they taste lousy no idea why), must not discolor or gunk my cotton, must not make my throat hurt, must taste good without sweeteners due to coil gunking.
I use a squonking rda, build my own coils, and replace cotton about every 10 days or as needed. Finding recipes that keep my coils clean is paramount. Recipes that are good to the last drop are also rare. I currently have only about 20 recipes I keep in regular rotation with flavor bases.
Elr is one of the best diy resources for any one into diy!
No, he's right. ELR is tainted with bad recipes and recipes from the eGo era, so the usage rate data is fucked, and it's next to impossible to find the few decent recipes that may be there. alltheflavors is a better resource.
