What soda bases work well?
submitted about 6 years ago by FlagrentViolation

CAP fizz pop vs RF soda base. TFA champagne? I'm intrigued. I want to give them a try and I am wondering if anyone has back to backed them? Do you have thoughts on witch is better? IF it has any relevance I have a good bit of TFA colas and Dr pop that are flat. Not to mention grape soda that might as well be grape drink. I would love an effective flavor. What are yall's thoughts on the carbonating flavors?

FLV Citrus Soda. Nothing I have tried gives the experience of a carbonated beverage, but Citrus Soda is an amazingly versatile base for sodas. Paging /u/staybert !

Some recipes to get you started.

Indeed. FLV Citrus Soda is the best one I have yet to try. Especially when you pair it together with CAP Lemon Lime or VT Fizzy Sherbet.

1.25% FLV Citrus Soda mixed with 1% CAP Lemon Lime, then slap your favourite fruit combo on there.

FA Lime Tahity CP and VT Persian Lime will make it flat though, so I wouldn't involve any of those if you want the fizz to pop.

^^^^ This. FLV Citrus Soda is great.

FW Pink Champagne is decent if you want a boozy note. All the other "sodas" are not great IMO

How much citrus comes out? Can I add something to drown it out? I love citrus IRL But I despise lemon and lime when it comes to vaping.

Vt fizzy sherbet, but it's not super fizzy. I think fizz in general is hard if not impossible to accurately get.

Second on the fizzy sherbet. I’ve also had good results with TFA champagne and a touch of ws23 (.25-.50%. Just enough to mimic a fizz without adding too much cold). You’ll find ws23 added into a lot of recipes at low %ge to help with texture. VT blood orange champagne also does it well if you can find a way to work around the orange. I keep hoping they’ll make a straight champagne. When it comes to texture in mixing, all you can do is try to emulate the mouthfeel whether it be creamy, grainy, pulpy, etc

Not a big fan of sofa base or RF in general but if you’re looking for a good cola, try alfreds 007 cola recipe.

RF Soda Base @2-3% mimics the soda feel for me WF Lemon Lime Soda @4% tastes like Sprite to me. You can either use it as a single flavor or as a base with other flavors, depends what you want.

I tried CAP fizz pop recently and all I got from it was EM muting after a couple days at 0.5%. RF soda base worked better. TFA champagne works but you have to deal with the wine taste. Alfred's 007 cola and stayberts citrus/lemon lime base have soda down better than anything else I've tried so far.

IME: FW Pink Champagne has worked better to give a kinda weird (but not at all like) carbonation feeling to the vape in low percentages.

/u/FlagrentViolation may enjoy this thread by ConcreteRiver, where he tested effervescence through several flavors:

Though it is 2 years old and there are definitely better flavors for adding almost-like-but-also-entirely-unlike carbonation.
