So I've been DIY'ing for about 5 months now and it's been going very well.. but recently i tried two recipes with acetyl pyrazine. The one contains .75% and the other was 1% but both seem to be scratching my throat. Any thoughts?
maybe use a little bit less, I don't go above .5% myself
try lower, like on the order of .25%. .5 is usually as high as I take it. The recipe won't be the same, but it's usually not much of a dealbreaker in terms of flavor, just longer steeps and reduced punchiness towards corn-chip/fritos flavor.
To work easier with AP in the beginning, dilute it 1:10 with some PG. That way a few mills too much doesn't end up destroying your throat.
Typically, we used one or two drops per 100 ml or so. It is a subtle enhancer, but only if you really understand how flavours hang together, not a beginner additive at all.
Try a dilution at 10% and use that. Work up until you find your sweet spot.
