mixes having very harsh throat hit
submitted about 6 years ago by ADarthVaper

Hello

i have just started mixing recently. but for some reason all my mixes are too harsh on the throat, no peppery feeling, it's just harsh. it gets easier after the third or 4th draw as my throat starts to get used to it.

But it feels as if this harshness is muting the flavor. I tried everything. tried mixing without the nicotine, was GREAT and very smooth with slightly enhanced flavor. My nicotine is brand new and ever since i bought it was kept inside a box in a cool place. never exposed to light except for when im mixing.

Im mixing at 3% nicotine 70/30 pg vg and in some cases 60/40. I shake the bottle a couple of times before using it. The nicotine is a pg solution and the brand name is nicselect

I did everything by the book but the problem is still there :/ am i missing on something ?

Pure and simply, the nicotine you bought is the problem since it's fine without it. Get different nicotine and see how it is.

Few people mix @ 70pg 30vg. Is that the problem, any reason you’re mixing at that ratio. I mix at that and it’s fine. I am intolerant of vg though.

Plus. Shaking the bottle a couple of times won’t cut it. Shake that bottle like ‘it owes you money’. It’ll go cloudy, almost, from the bubbles. Then steep, according to recipe suggestion.

Just to be clear, this is nic salt, right? Because 30mg/ml is insane for freebase.

He probably means 3mg/ml

hmm yes 3%. the only 2 things that im left to question are the calculator im using. if not then it's for sure the nicotine itself is expired or something.

the nicotine strength is 50. so according to the calculator, if i wanted to make a 10ml juice with 3% nic i should be putting 0.62 grams/0.6ml of nicotine.

You should probably use higher VG and try steeping for 2-4 weeks before using the juice... In the beginning it’s harder to wait it all out but once your done steeping the first bottle you can just mix a batch every 4 weeks and get on

It's 100% the nicotine since the recipe is fine without it. OP's nic has gone bad.

No, it has no taste. He's probably using too much.

And it has happened that some suppliers have messed up and shipped higher concentrations than are listed on the bottle.

70PG would be harsh to me. But it's fine for you without nic. Your nic probably isn't the best quality if it's giving you trouble at 3mg.

thank you all for the help. i will be experimenting at different amounts with it just for the doubt. if it's still harsh then maybe the place i got it from messed up with it somehow.

I found that anything over 2mg was too harsh for me until I got nic salt instead of regular nic. Nic salts are great, just be careful not to use too much as the harshness goes away and it's easier to get yourself sick from too much nic.

I tried DYI about 5 years ago and couldn't vape what I mixed because everything was too harsh, this time around I got a magnetic mixer, a digital scale that goes down to .00 grams, and NIC from a different source, and I haven't had a single issue

Trust us, its the nicotine. Some nicotine is shipped from a bad batch when the company made the nicotine.
