#Intro
> A warm welcome to all our new mixers, Michiganders, and Doomsday Preppers. I put together a guide for you to bookmark. It's a shortlink/redirect so it will always point to the latest iteration of the FAQ and should answer all of the basic questions you have when starting out, as well as guiding you to the different resources and weekly threads in the subreddit.
> We will be doing a giveaway for a beginner kit and scale on the DIY Discord Tuesday. When you join you'll automagically be given the role of "Newcomer" and a channel will be opened up Tuesday morning where only newcomers will be able to enter into the giveaway to win one of 3 beginner kits.
> Once again a big shout out to Liquid Barn for offering up this great prize. More details will be posted in the giveaway channel on Tuesday.

#Highlights
-
/u/windowlickingood let us know about the Walk On Lansing event happening Friday, September 27, 2019 at 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EDT if you're one of the many Michiganders who have recently joined, you should definitely try to be there.
-
/u/TeslaDelMar was kind enough to put together a Michigan Mega-Thread to consolidate some of the Michigan related discussion and provide some helpful links for those affected by the ban.
-
In the midst of chaos and concern /u/heimsins_konungr released his 10th front page recipe White Chocolate Caramel Mocha.
-
And /u/TeslaDelMar doubled-down on highlight worthy posts with his "tale of two formulations" a comprehensive comparison between the new and old formulations of the popular flavor Holy Holy Grail RY4.
-
/u/flavorah now has the unique distinction of having 2 of the top 10 most upvoted posts of all time but unfortunately, like their other popular post, it's bad news: Trump Signals a Flavor ban. Don't get complacent in the USA. DIY Could be banned too.
- /u/mechnasty also had a highlight worthy comment in that thread "They should just ban teenagers. Yes I'm serious."
-
/u/vishousness updated the Starting Percentages wiki that I created for him nearly 6 months ago. Ideas like his spring up all the time but very few people follow through like he has. It's become quite a valuable resource and I applaud all the time and effort that has gone in to maintaining and improving it. Thanks, Vish!

/u/ID10-T noticed that the First Order Flavors were in need of another update. Go there to vote on a flavor you think is worthy of being in someone's first order or add a suggestion to be included in the list. The thread is in contest mode so even a late suggestion has just as much of a chance of being seen.
And last but certainly not least:
- /u/EdibleMalfunction announced that our sub has grown to 50k subscribers!

If the First Order Flavors were updated based solely on what's been offered up so far, the flavors would be:
- INW Cactus
- INW Custard
- INW Shisha Strawberry
- WS-23
- FA Fuji
- CAP Sweet Guava
- CAP Sugar Cookie V1
- LB Vanilla Ice Cream
- TFA Marshmallow
- FLV Red Burley
- VT Fizzy Sherbet
- INW Shisha Vanilla
- FLV Wild Melon
- INW Raspberry
- VT Yogurt Drink
- INW Biscuit
- VT Banana Custard
- INW Black for Pipe
- TFA Sweet Cream
And while that's a terrific collection of flavors, if you ordered just those flavors I think the only well-established recipe you could make would be Prickly Victory, which has apparently become the Mustard Milk of 2019.
So yes, please go there and add some more flavors and recipes!
it's probably just wishful thinking on my end, but I wish we had first order flavors broken up by flavor profile. Like, fruits has 5, desserts has 5, tobacco has 5, and a few universals (ws-23, sweeteners, emulsifiers/smooth). A lot of people coming in have preferences already from commercial juice that can inform these choices. Like, if you don't like bakery profiles, not many reasons to get INW biscuit if you'll be skipping on all the bakery recipes. Probably not worth the extra effort, but just my 2¢.
The five flavor limit really keeps some flavors out, mainly because the definitive recipes that use them are a bit more complex. Just sayin'.
Next year or so or whenever there's a call to update that thing again, juthinc we need to bump it up to six?
Don't want to intimidate brand-new mixers with a long list of ingredients needed just to make something tasty, but if increasing the number from 5 to 6 makes it that much more inclusionary for awesome flavors and encourages more suggestions it certainly seems worthwhile.
We got plenty of flavors and recipe suggestions when we updated it in 2016 with a five-flavor limit, though. And we got what I think was probably a satisfactory number of flavors and recipes last year, even if I did have to nominate most of them myself.
I'd nominate FLV Boysenberry, but the only public recipe I've tried it in is GIGI. CAP Hibiscus deserves a nod, if for no other reason than being able to emulsify like TFA dragonfruit (but tasting better)... But again, most recipes I've used it in have multiple flavors (especially if we count cooling agents). LA Lemonade deserves a nod, but just my lemonade base (LA Lemonade, INW Lemon Mix, INW cactus, FA Polar Blast, WS-23) uses up all five. Then when you throw INW grape, FA Blackcurrant, FLV boysenberry, INW shisha Raspberry, FW Blueberry, or GL Cherry on top....
Also, we should have a second "first order flavors" for people who want tobacco recipes. Yeah, a few tobacco flavors will likely make it, but there'll prpbably be nothing to make a decent tobacco vape with other than going single flavor FLV Red Burley or INW Am4a. And a large subset won't want any tobacco.
I have to admit, I've half considered deleting the White Chocolate Mocha recipe entirely after getting a 3 star review ;(
I will admit it was my first coffee recipe, so I'll take the heat.
But anyways, here's me when they ban flavored ejuice. [OC]
