Placing my first DIY order, anything I missed that you experts would suggest for a dessert lover?

This is what I’ve got ordered so far. I looked through the list of flavors on the side bar and grabbed a bunch from there.

I mostly vape FRYD Banana, Grumpy Old Bastard (butterscotch caramel cream), and Killer Kustard original.

I looked at the sugar cookies ones, but I didn’t end up getting them because I’m not super into cookie vapes. I’m guessing you use them more for base notes though? I noticed them used in a lot of recipes.

THe banana nut bread one was in my cart, idk what happened to it. I swear I put that in there. The marshmallow isn’t there either.. now I’m wondering if I need to go check my order receipt..

I didnt order inw biscuit with my first order. It was on my second order. You don't think itll taste good because its biscuit but it's actually good and more of a British dessert biscuit. I'm American and assumed it was a southern biscuit and would be dry.

Personally I can't stand tfa banana nut bread. I don't think it tastes anything like banana nut bread.

Omg thank you. I thought it tasted like spiced apples.

DX Sweet Cream has a fair amount of butyric acid, so be ready for very long steeps and/or off-notes of vomit.

Skip TFA Caramel original unless you have a very specific reason to be ordering it. Try FA Caramel instead.

I wouldn't pick up two different FW butterscotches with my first order, but that might just be me. If you have found recipes from alltheflavors.com that use both of them then you might be totally good to go with those.

You're probably going to want more than four 10ml bottles - you can get a 50pk on Amazon for about $10 shipped.

Regarding nicotine, the low-strength base seems to be popular with new mixers but 100mg/ml is ~11x cheaper on ECX - 33x stronger than 3mg/ml and only 3x more expensive. Consider pricing out a smaller bottle of 100mg/ml nicotine and then appropriately sized bottles VG and PG to get the VG/PG ratio(s) you're looking for. You have little/no wiggle room for VG/PG ratio with the low strength base, which might not matter to you, but if it does you'll only know less than 100ml into your 1 liter of nicotine base. If you have VG, PG, and then nicotine in either PG or a PG/VG mix, you can hit a wide range of target ratios and it has obvious space efficiencies when being stored in a freezer.

Just some thoughts, hope you enjoy your time spent DIYing! Someone who has more actual flavor knowledge can probably help pick apart the actual flavor list better than I can.

I picked up both butterscotch flavors and the caramels because of a recipe I found that is supposed to be a clone of my ADV. I’m planning to order some glass bottles for mixing, the small ones are just to test small batches of each flavor on its own.

As for the base, is the premixed stuff not as good? Is that what 33x means? The other stuff is stronger? Cause I don’t know if I want it much stronger than 3 mg. I tried a 6 once and it burned my throat pretty bad. I have a larger deep freeze for storage, so space isn’t really an issue. (Perks of living in the boonies, I suppose. Lol)

33x is just dividing 100 by 3 rounded down for convenience - 100mg/ml is 33 times stronger than 3mg/ml. You'd never ever want to vape 100mg/ml or anything close, but you can use a small amount of the 100mg/ml liquid with a lot of plain VG and plain PG to make whatever nicotine strength you want, which might change over time. I can appreciate wanting to keep things simple when you're starting out - maybe just start out with a smaller amount of the low strength base and see if it meets your VG/PG ratio and strength requirements. A liter of base like that makes a little over a liter of finished liquid which seems to me like a terribly long time to be stuck at one nicotine level and VG/PG ratio.

Yea I didn’t really take into account just how much a liter was. I just saw the price and I was like “$12? Heck that’s cheaper than a single bottle of my ADV. I’ll get two! 🤪”.

I’m an impulsive shopper sometimes.

Also, please beware - TFA Caramel and FA Caramel are not really in the same ballpark.

I’ll keep that in mind when I try them! I ordered them to follow a particular recipe, so hopefully I like how it turns out! 😂

Beware of Flavor West flavors - lots of their flavors contain Fructose, which will carbonize your coils after a few vapes. I'm not big on breathing in burnt sugar, myself.

I highly, highly recommend TFA Cheesecake Graham Cracker Crust. It is my favorite base flavoring, and I buy it in 500ml bottles.

Also, even with sweet discounts, ecigexpress can often end up costing you more. Try building the same cart in a few different vendors - nicotine river is my go-to. They usually beat ECX even when NR isn't having a sale and ECX is.

I see that you bought 1000ml of a 3MG nicotine base. I understand that you can just add flavoring to it and you're good, just be aware that your end result will be lower than 3MG and will probably be closer to 60/40 since flavors are usually in a PG base. In the future this might not be cost effective depending on how much you vape.

I personally buy a gallon of VG, a 48mg all PG nicotine base (from nicotine river - their nicotine is great), and flavors. This way I end up with about a 90/10 to 80/20 PG/VG ratio without even adding any PG. All of my PG comes from flavorings and nicotine base.

I like how you're playing with multiple variants of one flavor/flavor profile - that is something pro's will do to get a great rounded flavor, but I would definitely recommend getting some 'high notes' to play on top of your creams/bakery bases. Strawberry ripe - if you're into that kind of thing - does marvelously on top of bakery/sweets and is very, very starter friendly. It's delicious!

Sorry for the brain dump - just saying what comes to mind when looking at your list as a starter DIY'er like I was myself years ago - I am also a bakery flavor maker! :)

Best of luck and just keep tinkering!

I’ll check out nicotine river for sure! I went to this site because I saw a link posted for it that suggested it. I should have shopped around a bit more but I didn’t think about it at the time. 😓

I’m not a big fan of fruit flavored things other than banana, which is odd because I don’t even like actual bananas.. I’ve got a chocolate on the list for my second order though!

The base itself seemed like it would be best since I have animals in my house. I was worried about having high strength chemical nicotine out and one of my dorky cats knocking it over or something. I don’t mind if it’s a bit lower than 3 mg though after the flavors. I mix 0 with my 3 sometimes anyway if I feel my throat getting a little scratcy. My ADV is Grumpy Old Bastard, which is 65/35 so I’m okay with it being a higher pg too.

I’m gonna go check out nicotine river though! I’ve still got a few things left to pick up.

Excellent! That's all totally valid - I make sure all of my nicotine is tucked away because the goober would probably find a way to play with the bottle!

Banana is definitely a tricky one - you might like the flavor 'bliss' at Nicotine River - a marshmallow flavor I picked up that absolutely has ripe banana in it and it's very nice.

Also I do believe I've tried Tiramisu before, from ECX - it's reaaaallly strong. One or two drops will probably be enough for any bottle, unless a very strong coffee/caramelized dark sugar is your jam.

Oh my gosh those toe beans!!!! 😍

I do remember reading that marshmallow is a great flavor for banana mixes. I think I ordered a marshmallow but tbh I can’t even remember if I did or not.

I’ll keep the tiramisu warning in mind. That one was one of my impulse additions because I love tiramisu custard from The Finest Signature. I’m hoping to mix it with some custard and make something similar. It’s my morning vape to have with my coffee. Lol

I'd probably take out that TFA DX sweet cream and replace it with either Inawera Yes we cheesecake or Inawera Custard. While I don't get it myself, a lot of people get vomit smell from that flavoring.

Darn. I already ordered it. I’ll just have to hope it won’t make me sick!

But I’ll add the cheesecake and custard to my list. I’ve gotta order bottles and a scale and a few things still.

Just don't use too much of it.

Why would just not replace it with regular TFA Sweet Cream?

Saw he had flv cream and just thought I'd suggest either another cheesecake as he had only one or a custard that doesn't require as much of a steep. I suppose I could've suggested another cream. I just went with something I would've added as he asked for in the title.

Me and my SO have vaped the same custard since we've started. Third world custard by thirdworldorder.

E:They also have a butterscotch that's pretty good. Check those out

Wow. That's a lot of CAP VC1. If you like custard look up FA Custard Premium

Tried it, not much eggy flavor comes through for me. I have adjusted mine down some, but if you want legit custard flavor. This is the one. I mean, if you not afraid of diacetyl.

TFA whipped cream.

It's my secret ingredient in all my dessert flavours. You cant really taste it, but it smooths and thickens up any dessert flavour wonderfully

Uh oh. Years? Is that how long this stuff will last?

I wasn’t sure how much to order. I just kinda grabbed whatever sounded good. Is it too much? I don’t want it to expire. 😅

I'm pretty sure you've git a decent supply, but that's coming from someone who's never DIYed before. I've looked into it and from what I've seen off of tutorials and recipes I've seen I don't think you'd need that much if you're looking to re-up in a shorter frame time. I will say this however, i used to work in a few different shops and over the years I've understood that if you store juices in proper fashion they can be good for roughly 2 years. But like i said I'm not in the know for DIY.....

Not gonna lie, all the talk about flavor bans around the US, and then the Trump incident.. well I got a little carried away. 😅

I will say though, that whole order was only like 90$ which is bonkers. No wonder people say diy saves you money. Lol

Welcome to the wonderful world of DIY. Once you've got a DIY recipe ADV you'll probably only spend 50ish bucks every few months. For me I just make a flavor order every 6ish months (and PG and VG and nic even less often).

1: Why would you place the order before asking for advice?

2: Why would you buy a bunch of stuff "that sounds good" rather than targeting some of the thousands of recipes that have been posted here and buying according to those?

I dunno. I figure these are all flavors in my usual profile, so I’m sure I’ll find some use for them. Maybe it’s silly, I dunno. I don’t mind if I end up not liking one or two, the whole order was pretty inexpensive all things considered so it’s not a huge loss if I end up with a flavor or two I don’t enjoy.

And I did actually look up recipes for my normal flavors, that’s what most of the list is. I added a few others that sounded tasty cause, why not? I’m probably gonna mostly make the recipes I found but I’m also kind of interested in trying to make up something on my own.

Sometimes the “add to cart” button gets the better of me. 😅
