What are your favorite mixing and recipe storage apps/sites?
submitted about 6 years ago by NessLeonhart

Hey all. Recently got into this pretty heavy, thanks largely to this sub.

This community has been invaluable to the learning process, so thank you all for your contributions.

I'd like to get a sense of what everyone's favorite tools are for the finding and storage of recipes, and for mix % breakdowns, in the hope that I can find better tools than I'm currently using.

The rest of this post is just an overall feature wishlist, so no need to read further, I'd mostly like to hear your thoughts on what's out there.

The ultimate app would have all of the following, imo. I've found most of these things in different groups on different sites, but not all at once.

(1) uploading my flavor inventory and

(2) searching a vast library for a recipe that is

(3) compatible with what I have on-hand and

(4) reviewable by other users with their notes and

(5) automatically displays mix % breakdown for that recipe with

(6) my desired specs already set (X amount of juice at X nic percentage and X nic base %) and

(7) naming and saving that recipe in a folder of my own chosen recipes, along with the

(8) ability to have child recipes easily tweaked and saved (Strawberry Dream>Strawberry Dream v1, Strawberry Dream v2, etc)

(9) a clean, efficient UI without a lot of tiny little drop down menus. more important than it should be, maybe, but it's a big one for me.

i'm currently using mixejuice.com for inventory/saving recipes because the UI is slick and satisfying, but it is lacking in features, most important of which is that I can't edit and then save a recipe without losing the original. doesn't allow renaming or duplicating recipes.

And i'm on alltheflavors and 99juices and several other sites for finding recipes, but it'd be nice to have it all in one place.

Maybe a tool that scrapes all the big recipe sites somehow and compiles it into one big searchable database? Maybe I just haven't found it.

Anyway, thanks for all the help so far.

https://e-liquid-recipes.com/ but I haven't shopped around for a new site in couple years. This one is perfect for what I do (Create and adapt recipes and persist them).

Second that. Has basically everything you need from flavor reviews, a calculator and suggested percentages.

There is a lot of hate on this sub for ELR, but I have been using it for years. I don't generally trust the recommended percentages that other users have input, but for creating and updating my own recipes, it is awesome. And it's free.

Alltheflavors.

There's a couple features that'd be nice, like a 'fork' button that would copy the recipe (like the copy button already does) and open the copy for editing while renaming the recipe as "copy of..." It would make it more automatic for version control, at least. Even if the capability is all already there with a bit of ffort. And I'd still like to see the option to use PG alternatives when mixing. But other than that, and tags with exclusionary sort (so I can avoid recipes containing strawberries, salmiakki, vanilla, or anything that tastes like peach) there's nothing the site needs that it doesn't have. Maybe a popup of the use distribution data normally shown when looking up flavors that could pop up when adding a flavor to a recipe...

I recently published an Android app which you might find interesting. It has recipe creation, categorization, a flavor wizard to help you mix starting from the flavors you have at hand, and a steeping timer with notifications once your ejuice is ready. There is also a preinstalled flavor database and you can clone your recipes. For now it does not have social capabilities, depending on how many people are interested I might add it in a future version. I tried to focus on a simple user interface, I also don't like confusing apps and I think this one is simple and clean enough while still being pretty powerful. Anyway, enough said, give it a try if you want :)

Just downloaded it and I must say it is simple to use. Thank you. One note I would add is that for some of my mixes I need to mix at under 1% is there a way of doing that?

Done, just released the new version

Thanks for your feedback, as for less than 1%, It's coming next version, I'm actually working on it right now, a lot of people are asking for that :)

Does the automatic steep timer work when not using the preinstalled flavours? Are you adding more to the list? Because the steep timer function is nice to have.

I like the ease of which you can choose flavours from the installed ones. It would be nice to have a full list to run through but so far it's looking good. The flavour pairings is pretty nice too - might have a mess around with it.

One feature I would like to see added would be the ability to input ratios from the number pad as well as a slider - sliders just aren't my jam so to speak.

Just noticed where it gives weight and volume to mix that the weight says mg even though I suspect it's supposed to be in grams.

Overall it looks like a pretty nice and streamlined app to use. Thanks.

The steep timer works with all flavors, preinstalled or not. The suggestion about steeping time also works with all flavors.

The mg thing, nice one! Can't believe it's been there right in front of me the whole time and I never noticed... Will fix!

Seems like something up my alley. However the nicotine strength only goes up to 100mg/ml, using salts with a base of 250mg/ml. Any way to set it to 250?

Nope atm. In working on making these kind of extensions available. I designed the app mostly based on how I mix, the plan is to gather this kind of feedback and add only those features that people find useful, instead of publishing an app with tons of options. Next release will include this, if everything goes well I'll publish it next week. Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you for the app man, best one I have come across and can't wait to start using! I'll be keeping my eye out for the update and higher nicotine base settings and then rely dive in!

ELR has a nice function where you adapt a recipe without losing the original. Just don't get lost, be sure to rename the adapted recipe (I just put V2 or something like that) and feel free to use the notes at the bottom. Then you can adapt the V2 and rename it V3 and so on. I have my stash on ELR and ATF but only use the ELR calculator. ATF has better recipes and search function. If you pay to use ATF you can take advantage of batch mixing and you get inventory control. Instead I just made an excel spreadsheet to do this plus it's online and accessible anywhere for me

Ahhh fantastic! I really like the option to select what percentage vg/pg your nic base is. Good work!
