'What are you vaping?' Thread - Week of Aug 5, 2019
submitted about 6 years ago by c5b4c91772c729fc7d0a

This thread is for you to share what you are vaping lately, be it your own or another mixers recipe. Maybe you happened to stumble upon your new ADV in the August Recipes Thread? Or did someone recommend your first mix to you in the Suggest a recipe for my flavors Thread

Share what you liked or didn't like too much, but most importantly, please make sure to properly link to the recipe and to the mixer if they're on reddit.

If you need some inspiration, some websites keep track of your mixes and batches: e-Liquid Recipes and All The Flavors.

Also make sure to checkout last week's thread for inspiration or to follow up on a mix that turned out even better after a week of steeping! We keep an archive of all the past threads in our wiki as well

Happy Vaping!

So I got really inspired by all the kind reviews I've gotten the past week due to the FLV giveaway, so I decided to mix up some stuff that looked intriguing. I'll just paste the reviews I've written so y'all can see it easier.

Long Beach Island (LBI) (Lemon Basil Ice Cream) by /u/eyemakepizza

>This is one of the most unique recipes I've ever mixed. It might look "simple" on paper considering how few flavors it is, but the taste I get from this is very complex. The vanilla ice cream part is perfect, not too light and not too eggy. The lemon is relatively sweet and blends in perfectly with the ice cream after just 1-2 days. Basil might seem wierd to some people, and indeed it is wierd, but good wierd. Amazing wierd even. The basil is a bit sweet and gives a very pleasant savory note, I also get a very very slight touch of anise from it, which is fantastic. Don't get me wrong though, it doesn't taste like anything like licorice which some people might think when they hear that, but it has a very slight anise like touch. I can't believe this recipe doesn't have any more reviews, it's just fantastic. It's everything you want from a recipe, it's simple to make but yet extremely complex in taste. Not that I would expect anything less from "the ice cream man" himself, but this deserves more than 5 stars.

Dragon in the Pines by /u/foment_life & /u/EdibleMalfunction & /u/eyemakepizza

>First of all, this is the first booze recipe that I ever tried. I've never really dared to dive down to use that FLV Juniper Gin myself, because I'm not drinking that often anymore, so the thought of me vaping booze has not been too inciting. I do love a great Gin & Tonic though, especially on a nice gin like Hendricks or Tanqueray. Luckily for me, FLV Juniper is precisely that, a very nice and piney london dry gin.
>
>The balance of the gin flavor in this mix is damn perfect, it's pleasantly there, but it also leaves a lot of room for the other flavors to express themselves. Yakima Hops and INW Pitaya are definitley both really funky, and it works really well here because the gin flavor is so fresh in itself, and the Fizzy Sherbet just adds to that freshness even more. I get no Orange flavor here, but I don't thats the point either, but I can definitley see the body and sweetness it brings to this wonderfully crafted wierdness of a recipe.

Springtime by Kopel

>Springtime is such a perfect name for this recipe, the overall flavor is just an explosion of fresh floral vibes, and the citrusy grapefruit note from pink guava gives it the perfect balance. The elderflower is very subtle, but it pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the lychee and honeysuckle. The lychee is at a perfect level here, it can easily become funky when you use it too high, but the funk here is working to its advantage. This is going in to my ADV rotation.

Kawayan by RuntDastardly

>Wow, I have a hard time describing this. It's fantastic. Usually INW Cactus will be a bully, esp at 1%, but here it just blends in perfectly with the sweetness of the guanabana and zesty citrusy notes from pink guava to end up in a very fresh summertime vape. I tried it without any coolant, but I'll definitley be mixing more of this, feels like a given in this kind of mix.

I also mixed up Mango Blossom Macaron by /u/ID10-T but that's currently steeping, so a review will probably be coming in next weeks post.

Still on Cardinal which I can't get enough of in my mtl devices. Looking into more tobacco/ry4 recipes purely off that one.

Just switched out flavours from Mango Iced Tea to Sugar Cookie, keeps me from getting flavour fatigue by switching profiles (fruit to dessert), also I seem to prefer the fruit profiles in the Summer for when I dl.

Yo I've been loving Cardinal lately myself. It's my first venture into any sort of tobacco/ry4 and its soo good, I can see myself going pretty far down that rabbit hole. Since I'm new to the the ry4 stuff I was only able to get Holy Grail V2, but I cant imagine the V1 being that much better, at least for my tastes.

Cookie AF by /u/spuel - Very good SNV. I had around 7ml that I forgot to vape for about 3 weeks and it became even better (I mix with Super Sweet at 0.25%)

Strawberry Milkshake - Accidentally mixed with VBIC at 4% instead of 2% so I am not sure how is the original.

Longing by /u/ID10-T - The first batch was done in less than a week. Added FLV Elderflower at 0.5% to the second batch, delicious.

Ooo that elderflower sounds like a great idea

I am pretty pleased with the results. At first I thought it overpowered the honeysuckle too much, but after 4 days it settled and the honeysuckle came back to lurk over the elderflower vanilla notes. This is my favorite recipe at the moment, so thank you.

Cozy cookie by u/anxietyattack2013 and simple cookie by /u/ID10-T while the other stuff steeps. Cozy cookie is a peanut butter and banana cookie. I get mostly peanut butter cookie, with bit a banana. Its good, I'll mix 120 today.

Simple cookie is good but simple, I vape it when I need something simple and not complex. It's like a freshly baked cookie. It's smooth and good, I let it steep for 3 days. I'll have to add a little butter pecan and test it out. And a few other things also.

I have Alot of stuff steeping to try out : viserion, butter pecan pie, Trinistachio, strawberry cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake, the Elvis gut.

These are the things I've vaped or been vaping this week, from most to least favorite.

Rain by /u/alfredpudding - hard to describe, even harder to put down.

O.C.D. - I love this, but something about the way the flavors interact I’d swear this was made out of grapefruit and banana flavors. If I had to guess I’d say the way the TFA Dragonfruit (which can create some bitterness with other flavors), the more tart parts from INW dragonfruit, and the lemon from smoothie base work on the Orange to make it taste like grapefruit... I haven’t single-flavor tested this particular Cherimoya but those flavors in general can get banana-y. I don’t know. I also don’t care, because a full flavored grapefruit/banana tastes great to me. Refreshing, but creamy and thick, like a fruit cocktail with both citrus and banana in it would be.

Red Dragon Kompot - Stewed fruits including dragonfruit and strawberries, served warm, with a bit of orange zest. 100% spot on to the profile, amazing how cooked-down it tastes. Very cool. Tart but sweet and very thick.

Phineapple - Sweet, juicy, delicious pineapple. Straight up, nothing more and definitely nothing less. The dragonfruit fills out these otherwise thinner flavors wonderfully but doesn’t turn it into white gummy bears.

Pineapple Candy - Delicious! And very close to those sugar-coated pineapple cubes, but just a bit too much FLV Pineapple. I’m still getting some of the more complex and odd notes from that flavor, hints of oranges and underripe banana, that don’t taste bad at all, but throw it off target. Maybe just a little less FLV Pineapple? And then another pineapple or dragonfruit flavor to make up the difference, if needed. Or just mix it as is, since it’s already so tasty.

Essense of White Gummy Bears - So that is supposed to taste like eating five white gummy bears and one of each of the other flavors in a bag of gummy bears. And it just about does it, which is super cool. Even down to the gummy bear texture. But, it’s seriously messed up by tasting waaaaaay too floral and even a bit bitter upfront from the 2% cactus. That is a ton of cactus. It seems like some cactus is a good idea for that juiciness, but much much less than 2%. Would love to see this “fixed” somehow, but admittedly I’m not sure how. The creator says 1% cactus wasn’t enough. How would you get more juiciness in there without messing up that neat profile. Maybe a very light touch of TFA Honeydew in addition to some amount of Cactus that’s less less than 2%? Or maybe some of that really juicy WF Starfruit?

Dragonfruit Cheesecake - I don't like this at all, but I think it's the entire concept rather than the execution that isn't doing for me. Mentally separating the two parts isn't easy, but when do it, that cheesecake base is absolutely delicious... But it’s quite buttery, and the buttery flavor up against that hibiscus-like floral from the dragon fruits floral makes me nauseated. I've thought in the past that maybe any cream with a lot of dragon fruit needs to be a light cream, now I'm more convinced of that. But, I'd love to see this exact cheesecake base with a different topping.

Buncha different Lychee stuff this week.

Ruminating on making something new with a couple of them.

Beyond that, BEWD and finishing up them last of my Cabin supply.

Lychee sounds like a nice light flavour profile, I'll have to check out some recipes including that.

I am vaping unflavoured juice. It's actually not bad. I'm a little short this pay, and I completely ran out of DIY, so I bought a litre of nic salts base at 60mg in 50/50 and a gallon of PG. I mixed the PG with the base to give me 20mg/mL juice, I'd usually add flavour here to bring it closer to 15 but instead now I'm just vaping it. It doesn't taste much different, tbh, my juices are always very weakly flavoured and I use the same flavour always so I've got vape tongue pretty bad. Mostly all I taste is the PG, sorta vaguely sweet. I can buy flavours next week when I get paid again but I might not bother, this isn't so bad. Plus I like being able to tell the anti-vaper shitheads that I, in fact, actually do know every damn thing that's in my juice.

Currently, no name. It's 5% LA Lemonade, 1% Lemon Sicily, 2.5% CAP Fuji apple, 3% CAP Green apple. Ok on tank but good on a dripper. It was recommended to me from the order thred.
