I guess I'm just becoming the store brand /u/staybert now, but doing soda recipes is all I really enjoy now in the heat of summer, so here's another one. I'll keep it a bit shorter this time, because we already have gone over soda base notes and shit like that over the last few weeks. So lets get into this one. nitriZingiber, a tart green apple forward soda with lingering notes of ginger and spice.

nitriZingiber (ATF Link)

  • FLV Citrus Soda at 1.25%
  • VT Fizzy Sherbet at 1.75%
  • FLV Ginger at 0.8%
  • FLV Sour Apple at 1.25%
  • INW Two Apples at 1.5%
  • INW Natural Mint at 0.1%
  • OPTIONAL WS-23 at 0.25%

Alright, into the notes.

FLV CITRUS SODA / VT FIZZY SHERBET - so we already know these two work together nicely. I actually ended up trying to use a little more restraint in my percentages overall, in this recipe. I've been on a tangent of just pushing my flavors to their limits lately in attempts to boost potency, and it was working for a little bit. However, in this recipe, I think the concentrates used actually benefit more from being used sparingly. And here, we drop the percentages a little bit on the soda to prevent the citrus notes from coming through too heavily. With these percentages, we're left with a nice carbonated vessel for the other flavors to adhere to.

FLV SOUR APPLE / INW TWO APPLES - as seen in my last soda recipe, I use INW Two Apples because it plays so nicely with the citrus notes left over from the soda base. Things like Fuji just take center stage too easily, where a red apple just doesn't fit the profile all that well, and something like Anton Apple brings about too much rind/bitterness. We already get enough earthy spice notes from the ginger, so we need something that is just a tart, almost candied green apple profile. With INW Two Apples, we get a strong green apple with the subtle sweetness of a juicy red apple. No apple juice flavor, but the inherent sweetness allows us to get away with not using a sweetener in this recipe, which I believe would be detrimental. Like I said earlier, less is more with this one. Bringing FLV Sour Apple to the party boosts that tart note on the inhale, while bringing just a little more depth to the overall taste that sits on the tongue during the first half of the vape.

FLV GINGER - I've used FLV Ginger a lot over the last year, and I actually really love what it can bring to a recipe, when used correctly. It's not the most potent concentrate on the market, but it's what I have. I want a better ginger, but I'm going to need to make a purchase to do so. Anyway, I've pushed this one higher in previous recipes to see if I can get it to stand out a bit more, however, it just really shines when used below 1%. When you go higher, it doesn't impart any weirdness or off-notes, but it just gets lost in the mix. Between 0.5 and 1%, it's a lovely addition to the latter half of the vape. Right after you finish the exhale, you're left with that spicy tickle on the throat that you expect from anything involving ginger. Pairing this with the intensity of the apples, it gives us this nice suggestion of a ginger beer base to our overall drink.

INW NATURAL MINT - this is where you can play around a bit. Mint and ginger go together nicely, especially in the world of cocktails, so it's a natural addition to a recipe like this. I kept it low as to not bring about too much of a mint or vanilla note that can sometimes hide in recipes involving this concentrate. What we DO get is an additional layer of dimension to the ginger and overall exhale of the vape. You don't really taste the mint in here, but you more feel it dancing with the spicy ginger notes. It almost seems to help with that suggestion that you just took a sip of an actual ginger beer, instead of just inhaling some weird aroma molecules.

Well that's it. I mixed up some absolutely abhorrent shit earlier today, so I needed something that I could actually enjoy for the evening. This is a nice addition to my growing collection of soda recipes. And honestly, who knows when I'll stop doing these. Probably not until I figure out how to make some weird Drunken Pears soda. It all comes full circle.

Awesome recipe soda brother! Loving the ginger in there, I too think it works really well with the "soda flavors". Definitley gives me the ginger ale vibe.
