Alright, so I haven't dropped anything in a while, and I found some inspiration from /u/staybert with all of these neato soda recipes they've been knocking out lately. And since I've been doing a bunch of soda experimentation for the last few months, I decided to try getting weird with the profile. So here's nitriVenus, a citrus heavy soda with hints of rose and apple.

nitriVenus (ATF Link)

  • FLV Citrus Soda at 1.5%
  • VT Fizzy Sherbet at 2%
  • FLV Rose Essence at 1.75%
  • TPA Cherry Extract at 3.5%
  • INW Two Apples at 1%
  • (Optional) CAP Super Sweet at 0.25%

RECIPE NOTES

So, this idea came about the same way I always develop recipes, I just think of some weird shit to throw at the wall and see if it sticks. Using some findings from /u/staybert in building a solid soda base, as well as what I've been personally using as my soda base, I decided to do something that was adding some funky and floral notes to the profile.

FLV CITRUS SODA / VT FIZZY SHERBET - so I've been using VT Fizzy Sherbet a lot lately to add an effervescent soda profile to fruit recipes, but I have found that with some profiles, just using that flavor solo tends to get lost in the mix. Bumping that up to 2% keeps the fizzy element alive, while also keeping the flavor of the citrus pretty strong. As I've experimented with this concentrate, it's difficult to boost the percentage much higher without losing that bubbly feel from it. So with that, we're adding FLV Citrus Soda at 1.5% to add more flavor and citrus to the base that will keep the florals from completely taking over. I've tried adding things like CAP Lemon Lime to both soda concentrates, and while it adds more citrus and body to the profile, it ends up making it feel too syrupy. So by using FLV Citrus Soda and VT Fizzy Sherbet together, it stays potent and bright without losing the fizz.

FLV ROSE ESSENCE / TPA CHERRY EXTRACT - here's where we get into the funk and floral elements of the mix. Both of these flavors are actually surprisingly weak, which is beneficial for this particular profile, as well as helpful to mixers that may just be stepping into the floral realm. FLV Rose Essence is a complex concentrate that stays fairly inoffensive. At 1.75%, we're getting some sweetened rose water notes. Nice and floral, but not back of the throat floral or harsh by any means. It's like if La Croix released a rose flavored sparkling water, but with some sugar added in. Next, we're dropping TPA Cherry Extract in to boost that "red" element and give some extra dimension to the rose. Cherry in vape form is almost always medicinal and disgusting, and while TPA Cherry Extract has some of those notes lingering in the mix, it's weak enough that we can mask it easily enough. While it isn't imparting an inherently cherry flavor, we get a bit of candied sweetness similar to that blood red ice cream syrup. With these two, it's just a nice counterpoint to the soda that gives us an end result of citrus fizz on the front and funky and sweet floral notes on the exhale.

INW TWO APPLES / CAP SUPER SWEET - the decision to add an apple note came from my endless attempts to make pear flavors work with florals. We see this in the real world all the time with candles, face washes, etc. Things like pear and tobacco, pear and wood, or even pear with juniper. However, in vape form, this always ends up tasting like a physical version. Perfume-y and fairly gross. But mixing a rose with apple? Especially INW Two Apples, one that sometimes gives more red apple, and sometimes more green apple, this works perfectly. The tartness of this concentrate works well to boost our citrus soda, while the sweetness helps keep our florals from being too one-dimensional. The addition of CAP Super Sweet, while optional, is suggested. This keeps the TPA Cherry Extract from feeling too thin and medicinal, while also giving more of that "commercial" sugar feel to the overall profile.

So that's that, my notes are lacking this time around, but I just found out that I FINALLY landed a job as an application developer. So my brain is not entirely focused on the vape notes at the moment. Hopefully you dig this mix, and I encourage you to fuck around with this version of a soda base and see what you can add to it. I believe we're all getting very close to the quintessential soda base, and it's really something beautiful. Cheers, friends.

Dude this looks amazing. I feel honored to be mentioned as part of the inspiration, also now I have a real good reason to grab that FLV Rose Essence.

Congrats on landing the new job!

I've been seeing your soda recipes floating around and it made me try to make FLV Citrus Soda work because I didnt particularly like it on it's own. Tasted like diet citrus soda, but mixed with VT Fizzy, its neato.

I still gotta mix up that Rainforest soda you did. Looked real nice. Thanks homie, it's been like, a year of trying to become a dev. So feelsjohngoodman.jpg
