100% VG CBD Vape juice
submitted about 6 years ago by TheHealthWizard

I have been trying to make a 100%VG VAPE juice with CBD in it, but I am having problems. The CBD keeps recrystallizing after I make my batch(after it cools). Is it possible to make 100% VG in the first place? I have been putting Vg and CBD on a hotplate for about 20 MINS until it dissolves then I mix my other ingredients.

70% VG is about the upper limit you'll get before it starts crystalizing.

Given that CBD is not VG soluble (at best it will remain in suspension for a while) 100% VG juice ain't gonna happen.

I was not able to get "clear" results above 40VG, 70PG/30VG is the safest bet for clear CBD infused e-juice.

Throw a little PEG in the mix and you've probably recreated ejmix for cannabis

Is PEG safe?

Lol idk but it's the only thing that liquifies wax, PG will eventually seperate and VG separates it quickly.

As safe as anything is. Don't be stupid about it and you're good.

No. Even after heating on a hot plate, the chemical equilibrium will eventually revert to its original state, causing the solution to become cloudy and your solute to crystallize out.

I make mine 100% PG then drip on top of 70vg/30pg nic juice. No recrystallization and then I can have my Nic and CBD

The secret ingredient is Dawn

Every commercial High VG CBD juice I’ve come across uses Whole Plant Paste extracted using CO2 extraction and mixed with a small amount of emulsifier like Polysorbate 80, instead of CBD isolate.

(You can do this yourself with commercial grade Whole Plant Paste.)

This way, you still get separation, but a quick shake fixes that. I’m yet to be convinced of the safety level for this kind of formula, so I don’t use it often.

The issue is that the Isolate crystals will not stay dissolved in less than 50% (some here are saying even higher %) PG

If you want a VG based CBD then you will have to go with a Broad or Full Spectrum rather than isolate. I've been using WildHemp brand for vaping since February, it is VG, contains no PG.

how would that work? CBD still isn't soluble in VG it doesn't matter what source it's from the molecule itself is not soluble. Full spectrum would be no different, Maybe other terpenes would dissolve but the CBD portion of the extract would not.

The ingredients in WildHemp include an emulsifier to keep it mixed. I've not had a bottle separate after several months.

So full spectrum would have nothing to do with it then

I've made a clear, non-re-crystallizing CBD juice with 60/40 PG/VG. 1g of isolate in 30ml total liquid. I added the PG first and soaked the bottle in hot water until all the crystals dissolved, then added the VG.

The only change since I mixed it is is going ever so slightly pinkish, which I believe is from oxidation. Next time I'll use an amber bottle, but from what I've read, the pink color doesn't reduce the potency of the CBD.

That fits the formula that I was given by a professional juice mixer: 55 mg of CBD per ml of PG at most. I calculated and your juice would have 990 mg CBD.

Shouldn’t it have 1000mg, considering it contains 1g isolate? It should work out to approx 33.33mg/ml

Yes, I just multiplied 55 by 18 (ml PG)

I mix 1g of cbd into 7.5 ml of pg, when it's dissolved, I add another 2.5ml of vg. Re-heat if necessary

When I'm ready to vape it I just add about a third of a tank with the cbd liquid and top up with my normal ejuice which is 60/40 vg/pg, and shake it up a bit. Sometimes it will slightly re-crystallize if the vg goes above a 50/50 mix but it still vapes ok. No spitting or crackling occurs, it hasn't ruined any of my coils The heat in the tank generally re-dissolves it anyway.

I've tried liquidizers before and they taste gruesome. You could buy a spare tank especially for vaping cbd if you usually vape max vg?

Have found success making stable 50/50 VG/PG 1000mg/30mls by adding your isolate to the PG and stirring at around 180F on a hot stir plate for about an hour and a half. Add flavors and VG last when it cools. Cooking longer wont hurt either. It crashed out pretty bad before but for some reason mixing it for a long time seemed to do the trick.

You can also get bad vg that casues it to crash, a lot of that shit is not 100% palm based as advertised (if it even says) I would suggest liquid barn VG.

If you wanna go the really nice route get a terpene kit and some MCT if you wanna pack it in there.

I think you'd have to use a different base for the crystals, like Ethyl Alcohol in order to not add PG. Even then I can't guarantee good results as I've not done it personally. The crystals will not fully dissolve in 100% VG, no matter what you do to it.

You need to mix the CBD with PG first then make the juice. I’m not sure you’ll find success going 100 VG. Try 70/30. Personally, I’ve made CBD distillate juice using a 50/50 juice with success. Run it in my Breeze 2. The main issue for me with a MTL CBD set up is its really hard to get any sort of decent dosage. Considering 500 mg of CBD will give you around 16mg/ml, I would need to vape 2 mls for a decent dosage. Impossible for one session of MTL, and even with a heavy hitter that’s a lot of vaping. Even doubling to 1 g of CBD is still requiring .5 ml vaped. I’m speaking from personal experience and I have read stuff about vaping not requiring same amount as say sublingual. However, if your main goal is to take CBD, I’ve had tremendous success making MCT based extract and I use my DIY flavors to add different tastes. I use the dropper to gauge dosage and take it sublingual. It’s the easiest to make and works the best for me so far.
