Storing flavor concentrates
submitted over 6 years ago by Takeitawaybot

After reading a bunch of information about storing flavor concentrates I have decided that glass bottles are the best option, my only concern is what caps should be used?

1.Screw caps with foam liners. 2.Cone liners screw caps (I’m not use if this are the ones called phenolic caps).

I am undecided since I read on the TFA site: “Please know that it is not a good idea to store the flavors with plastic eyedropper caps on the bottles. “The rubber that's used with the eyedroppers is extremely soft and interacts with a great many materials. “

So I’m not sure if that is the case with any of the caps mentioned above.

Any info will be gladly appreciated.

There's nothing wrong with the bottles they come in. It's foolish to buy more than you can use in a reasonable period of time. I'd much rather buy a 10-15ml every 6 months than a 2-4oz that's going to linger around for years regardless of what it's stored in.

You don't need to rebottle flavors

I thought it was that the less u transfer the less volatiles u lose because some stick to whatever surface its touching during transfer

Not to mention the exposure to air.

Its just not necessary unless you have large bottles without dropper caps
